>> reporter: shelby there was talk of compromise, but no decision has been made just yet, and? is one of the last public golf courses in town. earlier today residents at the wild creek golf villa showed up at today's meeting. they say this golf course adds value to the neighborhood, and if the golf course is ultimately sold, the views here, the recreation it provides, all of that is at risk. and it would nturn, diminish their property values. however, the chairman says the golf course is not profitable and it is actually losing money. about $200,000 every year for golf operations. the property has been owned for about 30 years and it is now looking to get out of the golf business to focus on convention centers. and the stadium and other event centers that actually bring in tourists. now, the board of directors and many community members today

course but transferring it to another municipality. >> they want to see that the golf goes back into the hands of the county to make that decision and it should be. these are the types of issue for qualities of life and parks to for the citizens, and it needs to be one of the entities that controls that for them. >> reporter: again, the state of this golf course remains -- hangs in the balance. and they will approach washoe county to see if they have interest in taking this over. now, the chairman of the organization is also a washoe county economicser. reporting live at the wild creek golf course, van tieu, news 4. an update for you. the jurors in lyon county are now deliberating the fate of a man charged with killing a toddler five years ago. cody wallace is on trial for the murder of thomas o'connell of silver springs. wallace has been sitting in jail for five years while many legal snags have slowed this case. he says the boy fell and injured himself in the kitchen

the boy in any way. the jurors have been deliberating since about 1:00 this afternoon. he faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted. a sparks mother has been battling for 23 years to keep her daughter's killer from getting out of jail and he is asking the public's help to do take once again. he will ask the parole board for his freedom for the eighth time. he was convicted of murdering the 18-year-old in 1992. the couple had been married for a year when he stabbed her to death and buried her in trash bags. because he was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, every two to three years susan's mother, carol, goes door to door collecting petition signatures to present to the parole board. her granddaughter is also helping by collecting electronic signatures. she says she lives in terror every day he will be let out of prison. since her caught's death, they have collected 14 4,000

once inside your vehicle, they grab your garage door opener. if you live in that neighborhood and you're parked outside, the police say that, of course, gives them access to your garage and your home. for the most part, the officers say they want access to your garage where they can take your tools, skis, anything of value that they can pawn. authorities say it is a good idea to take your garage remote with you or lock it up in your glove box, console, trunk of your car even if you have to. protecting your garage remote is not something that most of us would normally think to do. >> and they are breaking into cars to steal this. >> i never even heard about that. >> i wouldn't be surprised because they -- your valuables are in your home. >> it is like a key to your home. again, the police just want you to be aware that this is going on in the virginia lake area. coming up next hour, we're go dog share some more tips on how

>> thank you. and more crime news. the reno police are now looking for two possible suspect whose allegedly injured an elderly man in a home invasion last night. it happened in the 1400 block of foster drive around 5:00 last night. the two suspects are described as light skinned black or hispanic males, one approximately six feet tall with a thin build and the other about 5'8" with a heavy build and a tattoo on one of his forearms. the police are also asking i don't you to be on the look-out for this car. it may be related to the crime and other burglaries. it is an older white two-door passenger car with a black trial striped molding down the passenger side. it also has a sunroof and a spoiler. >> we do have the suspect vehicle that might have been related to other residential burglaries in south reno that's why we're getting that information out to the media and to the community so that way we can rally together and hopefully get the suspects into custody. >> and secret witness is

information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of those involved in the incident. now to an unusual story about an suv theft, according to sparks police. the victim in this case says she was headed north on spice island drive approaching greg street when her car was hit from behind. she says she got out to check the damage and when she returned to the front of her car, a man was there going through her wallet and demanding cash. he then gave the wallet back and then drove off in her car. the driver of the other car also took off. the suspect is described as a while man in his 30s and a full tattoo sleeve on his arms. the other driver is a white female in her 30s with blondes hair. secret is offering a $1,000 reward. anyone with information about any of these crimes asked to call the secret witness hotline at 322-4900.

a reno shelf ser leaving more than 100 people without a bed to sleep in. >> news 4 went down to the volunteers of america campus today and she joins us now with this on your side report. oliva? >> yes. organizers are working as fast as they can to find more sleeping space and the volunteers of america director tells me the search for a new overflow shelter began as soon as he stepped in to the vandalized building. >> even though today is almost a 70-degree today. freezing. >> and more than 100 homeless who would normally stay in the volunteers of america overflow shelter won't have a bed to sleep on. >> and it is completely shut down. >> on saturday, vandals stole copper wiring and the heating system from the warehouse that is used as a shelter. the building. they went into the electrical everything. >> the vandalism also caused flooding and immediately shut down the overflow program. >> and i don't really think

let's get a look now t at how the evening forecast is shaping up. we check in with colin jackson and he has more on what we can expect as we start to look ahead at a time when we're heading into the weekend. >> we're way over the hump. it is friday tomorrow. how exciting! it will be a cold start for the kids in the morning, but not super cold. 37. that is not as cold as it has been and certainly not below freezing. we're live at sugar bowl and the setting sun. and a light dusting of snow on the way. and the snow level around 8,500 feet, so it is not going to be a lake level issue. so a few high clouds rolling on through that is it. we look to the west and what do we have? a good storm system. but the low associated with it takes everything off pretty much to the north so we don't have the rainfall chance in reno. i have been seeing 10% here or there, but we're going to leave it up. 70 was the high today so that is a little above average. 54 is where we have been on average for the last 30 years, averaging everything out. so 70 is substantially warmer than it has been, and it will

friday could be even warmer. so 56 for elko that is a warm day for them. vegas in the mid 70s, and all of nevada will boost its numbers again tomorrow before we cool off saturday. when the front comes through, it will be mostly dry. as usual before the storm comes, we get some wind here on the valley floor. 68 now as of 5:20. 63, carson city. 48 at south lake tahoe. it is a warm, warm day and it continues to be a grand jurious evening so we'll see maybe passing clouds. but, again, this low is a little too far west and the trajectory, if i can say it, will take it into british columbia where most of the snow will fall at a place called whistler. if you have ever been, it is gorgeous. and there is the rain and there is a passing shot of a shower or two with high clouds streaming on in behind it. it lasts through most of saturday, but sunday we'll see more sun than saturday. it will be a good weekend

but tomorrow in some spots like battle mountain goes to 60. this is warm for the northeast section of the state. mid to upper 50s is warm. overnight lows, some place also just touch that freezing mark. but most will not. and we'll rebound quickly into the upper 60s to 70 degrees areawide. now we're going with a 72 for you. mammoth at 60. even bridgeport at 66, that is warm for them. carson city goes to 70. and valley, 72. and around the lake, tahoe, south and truckee to the north will hit 60. everyone else will be in the mid to upper 50s. partly cloudy with a south wind at around 15 to 25 miles per hour. and the occasional gust to 30 is not out of the question. sutcliffe, 62ment and susanville is at 64. on the valley floor, overnight lows above freezing in most locations. highs upper 60s to low 70s. thin clouds late in the day. and here are the seven-day numbers. the niitty gritty.
