authorities have not been able to confirm the shooting, but we did call the nugget in silver springs and asked an employee if they could confirm or shooting involving a deputy. the employee said yes, but i can't comment. our career is on the way to the scene and we will bring alive report as soon as they arrived. onto a deadly mass shooting in kansas that killed four and injured 14 others. the gunman opened fire in a manufacturing plant. the plants parking lot and two other locations. it happened in kansas, a small town north of wichita. nand schoenemann reports. >> someone said there were gunshots, there was a shooting -- shooter. >> reporter: at the end of the workday, authorities were called to a shooting, followed by a report of another attack at another location. then a report of an active shooter inside excel industries. orr it didn't matter who it was, he had no specific target.

jurors will reconvene tomorrow for the trial of a man charged with killing a toddler five years ago. cody wallace this accused of killing a five-year-old. he has been sitting in jail for five years while legal snakes of slowed case down. the boy fell and hit ends -- hurt himself in the kitchen and this is the never heard the boy in any way. he faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted. a series of car burglaries has citizens and authorities on high alert. reno police say the thieves want your garage door opener, not a car. you want to steal items from your garage to upon them. residents who parked their car outside their home need to make sure their garage door opener is not accessible to a criminal. the fate of a local public golf course hangs in the balance. the wild creek golf course will be put up for sale, the community wants to keep it in

you. high school welcome back. back from a breaking news out of silver springs where he -- we have a reports of a possible shooting at the nugget. we have arrived on scene. van, what can you tell us so far? >> reporter: madison, we have confirmed there has been an officer involved shooting at silver springs we are actually quite a ways from the crime

office is canvassing a very large area. here is what the sheriff's office has been able to tell us so far. they said around 8:30 there was a report of a carjacking in sparks. when the suspects fled, they were suspected to head towards the errington and the lion county sheriff's officer was able to locate them at silver springs at the nugget. during contact, the officer, who was by himself, responded to shots fired at him. the suspect shot at the officer in the officer fired back. two suspects are in custody. however, there is one suspect at large. the sheriff's office searching the area near highway 50 and 95 alternate. the officer, his injuries are unknown. we haven't been able to confirm his injuries. he has been taken to the hospital.
