3 (samantha)3 >> reno's pro finally has a it's been a decision that's been months in the making... in the end, they narrowed the name down to just three, and the winner was chosen in landslide fashion...reno's new united soccer league franchise will be called the "reno 1868 football club"...a lot of deep thought went into the decision, and the logo, font and numbers all have reasoning behind them...1868 is the date that the transcontinental railroad hit our area, so essentially.. it's the birth of reno...team president eric edelstein says that the response from the community has been amazing...

3 (bill)>> a sparks mother has been battling for 23 years to keep her daughter's killer from getting out of jail... and she's asking for the publics help to do that.. once again.on monday... simon macias will ask the parole board for his freedom for the 8th time. he was convicted of murdering 19 year old susan nicoleti in 1992.the couple had been married for a year... when he stabbed her to death and buried her in trash bags. because macias was sentenced to life in prison -with- the possibility of parole every 2-3 years ....susan's mother carole nicoletti goes door to door collecting petition signatures to present to the parole board..since her daughter's death ... she has collected 144- thousand signatures... but after each denial.. she has to start over again...for the next parole hearing. 3 ((14:25:13 "i feel it's so important to keep simon macias

discussion.3 >> a white pony outfitted as a unicorn for a children's birthday party led chp troopers on a not- so merry chase wednesday nightthe pony darted away from a child... and started to run into the road outside fresno.just a disclosure here... the pony was *not* hurt.troopers were able to locate it by using a c-h-p chopper... and then captured it with the help of a nearby resident.according to troopers... some people were hesitant to report the pony... with the pink halter and the horn in the roadway... as a unicorn.but others were quite sure they had actually seen one.all kidding aside.... troopers say children shouldn't be in charge of restraining large animals like that.the unruly pony weighed about 500 pounds.

others injured in an officer- night. alex knito joins us now live. latest developments in morning. >> reporter: good morning, bill. the shooting happened at this nugget casino in silver springs. as you can see behind me, officials still on scene this morning, searching for more information as to exactly what happened in this shooting. but what we do know, based on what officials told us last night, shortly after the shooting happened, is that the lyon county sheriff's reports from the sparks police department around 8:30 last night asking for help in searching for a red chevy cruise. we're told it was around 10:00 p.m. when the deputy sheriff went to the lyon sheriff's office, found the car in this parking lot at the nugget casino in silver springs. he then attempted to make contact with the suspects in the car. we're told there were four suspects total. we're told one suspect pulled out a gun, firing at the deputy sheriff, firing back, and one of those

the deputy sheriff was transported as well. he was shot in the hand, but at this time, we don't know the extent of those injuries. we're told two are being detained at this time though they have yet to be identified. still waiting on that information. several agencies are working on the investigation. the nevada division of investigation, the washoe county crime lab. we're told the lyon office reached out to see if they can help with the coroner's report. but again, we are still waiting on quite a quite a bit of information >> we have all the subjects accounted for one of the subjects did admit there were just the four in the vehicle. >> reporter: as soon as we find out information, like the identity of the suspect, if there were more suspects involved, and of course what exactly led to this officer-involved shooting, we will bring you that information right here on news 4. so please stay with us for the very latest developments in this investigation.

back to you >> alex, thank you. meanwhile elsewhere in this country a shooter in a work-place shooting in heston, kansas, has been identified as cedrick ford. the shooting left 14 people injured, four dead, including the shooter. authorities say ford stole a vehicle, shot people in the street parking lot, then opened fire inside his workplace. five people remain in critical condition this morning. the law enforcement officer who was first on scene reportedly brought down the shooter. well after sources said the white house was considering nevada governor brian sandoval as one of several potential nominees to the circuit court, sandoval is setting the record straight. yesterday he issued the following statement, quote: "earlier today, i notified the white house that i do not wish to be considered at this time for possible nomination to the circuit court of the united states. i have also spoken to senators reid, keller, and mccon nell, and expressed the same desire to

and you see the clouds moving in from the west and there's moisture off the coast that is mostly going to skirt north of us as we head into the night time hours tonight. and we'll see a chance showers. and the biggest impact that we'll see with the system will be the winds picking up today and tomorrow. into the 50s for the eastern side of the state today and into the 60s and a few low 70s for western nevada today, including 72 in fallon for your high. and up around the lake, upper 50s to near 60s. it will be breezy and 15 to 25 out of the southwest and ridge gusts 75 miles an hour and valleys gusting to about 40 to 15 to 25 sustained and warm temperatures and well into the 60s and low 70s in a few spots. and lower 70s for reno sparks. and the 7-day forecast, we got warm conditions the next couple days.

the shooting happened at this casino in silver springs. and the officials are still searching for answers to what happened in this shooting last night. but we do know this we are told by the officials when the lion county's sheriff's office received word from the sparks police department that they needed help to find a red chevy cruze and they found the car in silver springs and they made contact with the suspect and the car. and we're told that there were four suspects involved in the shooting. one suspect then pulled out a gunfiring at the deputy chief who fired back and one of the suspects did die on the scene. one was taken to the hospital by care flight and the deputy was shot as well as he was shot in the hand. we don't know the extent of those injuries. we'll have those information for you as soon as it becomes available. there are a total of four suspects involved in the

now so again, cool to start the day. again a warm afternoon. a mix of sun and clouds. and you see the clouds streaming through western nevada and in california. and not as much in the western and central parts of the state. here's the disturbance for later on tonight. and that will arrive in the california coast and still holding together pretty well at that point. it is weak. it is just shower activity for the coast of california. once it gets to our area, it falls apart quite a bit. so perhaps an isolated shower and the best chances are well north of reno sparks. south of us, a lower chance for any precipitation. and it will remain unsettled into the beginning of next week. and the breezes will be out there. breezy and gusty conditions prompting a lake wind advisory for tahoe for the day today and the advisory does not start toil 4:00 p.m. and the winds -- start till 4:00 p.m. and the winds will not pick up
