hour winds have shifted to the southwest at 21 miles per hour. it was windy up in the mountains today. upper 60s across the board and we have mid-50s and tahoe at truckee and southlake. here's the rest of your friday night. get out and have fun. it will not go into the 40s until 11 o'clock we will have the rest of your weekend forecast andrew 7-day forecast which does show a chance of rain for next week. >>thus. >>topping our news, a verdict is in in a hype profile murder case. a jury has found cody wallace not guilty of first-degree murder and manslaughter charges. he was found guilty of child neglect. wallace has been arrested and charged with the death of 2- year-old thomas o'connell who died in silver spring in 2010. he has been in jail ever since

the victim was the son of his girlfriend. the jury deliberated yesterday and this morning before reaching the verdict. the sentencing for the child neglect charge is next month. we will hear from his attorney and have reaction to today's verdict. one person was killed and 2 others injured after a shooting. 4 men carjacked a vehicle and were later spotted at a casino in silver spring. a sheriff says a deputy approached the car and someone inside opened fire hitting the officer. the officer shot back. the shootout killed one suspect and injured another who was flown to a regional hospital. the deputy who was shot is in good health and has since been released from the hospital. 2 other suspects are in custody . >>we have all of the subjects accounted for. one of the

just the 4 of them in the vehicle. >> the captured suspects are juvenile work currently at a detention facility. the sheriffs office will lead the death investigation. >>a manhunt is underway for 2 suspects connected to a murder case and south lake tahoe. 24-year-old dominic randolph and 26-year-old dion [ indiscernible last name ] are being sought by authorities in fairfield and vallejo california as well as surrounding areas. both suspects are considered to be armed and dangerous. too other men has been arrested in taking park -- part in a murder. the victim died after being shot several times. that was during a drug deal that happened in january. >>2 bartenders are behind bars after selling cocaine to

officials say the victim -- suspects have been arrested on multiple drug related charges. police officer say they were successful in buying cocaine from both bartenders during their undercover operations. as a result, officials say they seized about 9 grams of cocaine in one of the suspects cars. there is new information on a recent decision impacting solar rooftop customers. we are now learning the decision will impact the city of reno and the washoe county school district . the taxpayer will pay a bigger bill for solar then when the investment was made. following the decision, there is also new math in recouping the investment of solar by the city and the school district. naomi [ indiscernible last name ] says reno installed 14 solar systems and 7 of those are affected by the new metering

>>it looks like it will reduce our expected savings by about 12 percent right now. we are still analyzing it. >> there is worry about another potential rate change coming up in june. tonight at 5 we will have more on that in an on your side report. >>a washoe school committee looking at putting a tax hike question on the ballot is taking a big decision. public schools overcrowding and repair needs are considering including a sunset clause on their proposal. their means there will be an end to the tax hike if approved. they are hoping to raise more than $781 million to be used for school repairs and building new facilities. the panel has decided to propose a sales tax increase. if approved, the sales tax would go from 7.7 percent to 8.3 percent making it the highest in the state.

horses on highway 50. the nevada department of agriculture says one of the motorist sustained minor injuries. officials say wild horses in the area are crossing roadways looking for food and water. drivers are reminded to remain alert and follow posted speed limits. the department of agriculture is working with the department of transportation to install fencing between carson city and silver springs to help keep animals off the road. tests are being conducted in las vegas on a british airways jet that was damaged by an engine fire. you may remember the scene from about 6 months ago. the repaired airplane was told thursday for engine testing. firefighter stood by so that no mishaps would happen. british airways is insane when the jet will be flown out of las vegas. the flight bound for london screeched to a heart -- halt

to start off the weather segment. clouds are here to stay. we knew this would happen, but despite the cloud cover, we topped 70 degrees in reno. this is causing heavy rain in redding. the southern end will blow through tahoe. doppler radar is trying to find something and it doesn't until he gets to i-5. it is rain and not snow. the high today was 71. 72 is the record set back a long time ago. the average, in case you have forgotten, it is 54 not in the 70s. that weather will cool into the weekend and stay there. most of next week we will remain in

it was almost 60 in elko. vegas was nice and warm in the upper 70s. 68 and firmly. central valley you're coming in at 70 degrees. the clouds and the moisture is moving through. we're just getting the clouds. we won't see any rain at all. there is another system out here. the track of this will go north into alaska. the storm door is open, we're just not a part of it. we are under the dog door. it will not make it. if it does rain anyway -- it is going to be in the portola area and susanville. it will dissipate quickly. we have high clouds coming through on saturday. we have a bit of a break saturday night into sunday and then more clouds coming through again. the weekend will be easy to deal with. if you don't have to go anywhere, stay here and enjoy the slopes. we will be below freezing in the northeastern section of the state overnight here we have a
