good evening,, more than 5 years after the death of a little boy, the man charged with his death has been found not guilty. >>the verdict was handed down this afternoon. >> it has been a long haul with many legal snags and a mistrial along the way. cody wallace has been cleared of murder tonight. the verdict was handed down shortly afternoon. he is cleared of murder and manslaughter charges in the death of 2-year-old thomas o'connell in 2010.

-- had gone to trial once but a mistrial was declared. wallace maintains the child fell while he was taking care of him, but that he never heard him. he spent the past 5 years in jail waiting for his day in court. his lawyer says his client is anxious to move forward with his life. >>i don't know if he ever really thought that this day would come, but now that he sees daylight in his future, i know he has some big plans to try to move on from this experience. >> he now faces a sentence of 2 to 20 years on the child neglect charge. his sentencing will happen next month. i did talk with the prosecutor today and he says he wanted to think the jurors for their work but he had no comment other than that. the estimated cost of prosecuting this case, about $1 million.

underway for 2 suspects related to a murder. 26-year-old dion jermaine randolph and 24-year-old dominic randolph are being actively sought by authorities in fairfield and vallejo california as well as some around -- surrounding areas. there wanted for taking part in the murder of dennis wright junior who died after being shot several times during a drug deal on january 30. >>one person is dead and 2 others injured following an officer involved shooting. 4 men carjacked a vehicle in sparks and were later spotted at a casino in silver springs. a sheriff says a deputy approached the car and someone inside opened fire hitting the deputy in the hand. the deputy shot back. the shootout killed the suspect -- one suspect a 19-year-old and injured another who was flown to the medical center

the deputy who was shot is in good condition and has since been released from the hospital. 2 other suspects have been detained. >>we have all of the subjects accounted for. one of the subjects did admit that it was just the 4 of them in the vehicle. >> we're told the captured suspects are juveniles were currently at the justice center in reno. the sheriffs office is leading the investigation. 2 bartenders are behind bars for narcotic charges following a series of undercover operations earlier this month. washoe sheriffs office say they were directed to bartenders at local bars and grills who were suspected of selling drugs to patrons.

that means a blood vessel that was supposed to shrink and close off after birth did not and instead it actually wrapped itself around his esophagus calling -- causing a condition called mega esophagus. >>he needs special service -- surgery. >> a go in and remove that ring so that his esophagus will grow back to normal size so that he can eat on his own. >>the surgery will cost thousands of dollars and that doesn't include his travel and recovery expenses. >>we are asking the community to come forward and help us cover the cost of his surgery because it is going to have a large impact on everything we do here. >>once the surgery is over and he has recovered, a new family will be his next step to happiness. >>we already know there are several people who have fallen in love and they would be given that first chance at adoption because they are going to be doing all of this hard work on donner. if not, he will be right here and nevada humane society
