live this is kron 4 news @ 5:30 p.m.. here is the latest from authorities in san bruno. they're still searching for three missing people at least four people were killed in the blast. today authorities released the names she is 81 year-old elizabeth thorez. her home was near the center of the blast. 37 homes were destroyed and all, 19 homes were damaged

and remained on occupied today. 321 homes have been cleared for families to return. tonight kate thompson is live in san bruno that's where we just heard an update from the federal investigators. kate. >> investigators say they're focusing on trying to figure out of this was a catastrophic failure with the pipeline or was there a small leak that went on for some time. why is this is important is because originally last week some people in the neighborhood had said the reported smelling gas and coal piccinni or call the police. investigators are trying to get contact with the people and they're asking them to e-mail them at san bruno@ntsb.gov trotted figured if the pipeline filled all at once or over time. investigators say they are also focusing on a timeline of events

they said about 30 years ago there is a pipeline that failed in san francisco. that is one they made safety recommendations including being able to get employees in the first responders to the valves shut off for these pipelines. last night at a town hall meeting pg&e said it took them an hour and 45 minutes to get to the pipelines and they couldn't get near the valves shut off because of the fire and that it was on stage. investigators say there will be looking into that. >> some of the recommendations we made in their response to emergencies in particular making sure that responders were properly trained to respond to an emergency in making sure the ball sunday to be turned off had been exercised and more still functional. >> investigators say the received about 90 e-mail's only one of those e-mail's talks about one of those residents smelling gasoline and calling pg&e. investigators say they will continue to stay on seen for about a week speaking to residents or anyone else who

wants to speak to them and people would be mailed them. reporting live in san bruno kron 4 news. >> christine conley is a couple of blocks away from the blast and she joins us now she was there today when the first responders talked about their experiences. christine. >> more than 200 responders rushed to the scene let's give you a live look at what's happening now as emergency crews are still here. does pg&e crews they're working to restore power and as we zoom in to the fires so here you can see those investigators and white suits they arrived about an hour ago as they continue to sift through the rubble and look for close and search for those were still missing. if we come out here we can show you some police officers that are standing by here. but there are a lot of police officers from south temperance his goal of that was one of the first they bring these departments to ride. we spoke to detective about what it

was like when he first came here. here's his story. i was on >> called off duty at the time. i looked out i saw the smoke and flames and i knew i had to go. i was thinking to myself, i had known a lot of people that live in the neighborhood i grabbed the first for law- enforcement personnel people wearing anything that had to do with law-enforcement and took them with me. we started doing evacuation's on the house is going down the hall. thinking we have to get as close to the claim as we possibly can without us getting burned we don't have equipment to prevent us from heat. we just got down there as close as we can keep her and started knocking some doors and forcing door is open in going out the back door of one particular house feeling the flame that was very hot. we were thinking we have to work up the hill because were getting too close. that these officers

saying he wanted to get as close as he could so it could topple the people that needed help as they went door-to-door helping some people crab belongings and helping the elderly that could leave on their own some amazing stories coming from the first responders. some sections of the affected neighborhood of started to get back to the normal and that means taking care of the mess that was left behind. jeff bush shows us the cleanup efforts under way. was a busy day and claremont street cuba without out cleaning up the suit and smoke residue all over the neighborhood and that meant getting rid of a lot of stuff appeared this dumpster has been set up residence to get rid of their damaged or destroyed things like this table, see that whole was caused by flying amber that landed on it. most of the dumpsters or fall by midafternoon the people kept bringing more and more stuff like this man and he was the starting what was left.

insist that inspections occur as quickly as possible. >>he said he wants all the gas line in fremont tested, including this one, the one that runs along the avenue where warning signs like this alert, wrote for contruction crews of it's location. >>it should be tested continuously, all the time. perhaps alerts put on it so if there's a problem with that, it will go very quickly. >>he said it's also the gas lines near the hayward fault, and he has a lot of questions fir pg&e about that too. >>when we call a line high risk what does that mean? what are the potential things that could happen? and more importantly what are the things we can do to avoid those things? >>pg&e has a month to inspect

all of its gas lines across california, and he wants those in fremont to be the first on the list. in fremont, rob, kron 4 news. state assemblymen called on pg&e to release its top 100 high-risk gas lines. he said he's going to be developing legislation to protect the public from high risk lines in california. he said it's ridiculous that the only way we learn about the top 100 high risk gas lines was to throw the rate increase request. a piccinni's submitted to the public utilities commission. >> car extended forecast showing warmer conditions for the next couple of days we will also have the morning fog so friday and saturday a big change in our forecast and a chance of rain. a full forecast is coming up in just a few months.
