this. this is crystal springs county park if this is taken earlier today a little breeze going on there. this is near san bruno what a beautiful picture you can imagine how many people will be crowding that area over the weekend. jacqueline is here to tell us about the hot weather details ahead. >> crowd in that area and the beaches because were quite as the intense heat in our inland spots in the weekend. our current conditions are ranging from 72 in half moon bay to 92 in santa rosa out mostly in the '80s out there this afternoon. 84 in oakland 86 in the san jose temperatures are up eight degrees from lot saw yesterday. a few places are little less nevadas at seven oakland the seven now balk, happened in fairfield also alps seven degrees but many places at 8 degrees over what we saw yesterday. tonight into tomorrow we have clear skies out there right now that will continue this evening and things will stay on the warm side as well. by some o'clock tomorrow a

temperatures will not cool off it will be pretty mild and into the afternoon will see temperatures warm another five degrees so near hundred degrees for inland spots. we'll talk more about the heat wave that will last into next week coming up in a bed. >> memorial service is under way for three of the people who died in the san bruno gas line explosion you see their pictures here if the remains of 17 year- old william, his father gregory and his grandmother live on were positively identified this week. kron 4 is live in berlin damn right now where the service started about 4:00. >> were here at the first presbyterian church and i'm told by police officers that the funeral service will be wrapping up here in about 30 minutes at 6:00 and that's why they have those big yellow getting ready to drive people the parking lots here. the churches packed inside with about the board to 500 people inside and they have another dozen or so people

sitting outside as well. the basically your remember three members of the plus family in fact from three different generations were talking about. the grandmother was 85 years old she was a retired nurse and her son gregory near it was killed the military was out here to honor him. grosso here to remember william was 17 years old. live here in burlingame of don. >> 7 people and all were killed in the explosion and 37 homes were destroyed in that explosion and fire as september the ninth. for now today beginning to learn more about the possible cause of the gas line explosion. summer suspecting that microbes may have set up corrosion of the gas line that runs beneath the san bruno neighborhood. of course exploded of such a number of the night. kron 4 kate thompson joins us live from san bruno now

she has more on this developing story. >> investigators are looking into the possibility that microbial erosion could cost the blast in san bruno and basically what that means is there was water bacteria the pipe which ate away at it in a bit thin. but before we get more into the cause of that we want to show you what's going on here live at the scene which is the clean about the blast. he concealed a heavy equipment and the dumpsters they have on the backs of trucks right now they're loading all the debris. will take a walk into the street over here to trying get to a better look. what they're doing is clearing each home and you can see here on the corner they've really cleared most of the debris almost all of the home's foundation is gone all that is left is third. while they have done a lot of work here there is still a lot of work left to be done. you can see directly next to this home there's still the foundation of a home and there's also the chimney that still left and a number of burnout

cars which have been here now for more than two weeks since the blast occurred. this will be a long process as they continue to clean this rubble out of the site. it we do want to show you some video this is video of a blast from 10 years ago sorry we're missing the video so we will go back to the clean up you can see there's still live here on the scene cleaning out this mess and these dumpsters on wheels have been leaving the scene in hour after after hour after they continue to pull more debris out of here. they say will take them about a day per site to to clean up and there are 37 homes that are destroyed and they think it will take over a month to get this entire site cleared up and at that point they say all that will be left is the dirt. reporting live in san bruno kate thompson kron 4 news. >> the house is expected to vote on a bill that would require

energy industry officials to report oil spills, gas leaks and other incidents within an hour of the happening. energy officials said they need more time than that and the rush could lead to reporting many false alarms. the energy industry is under scrutiny after the san bruno gas line explosion at an oil spill in michigan as well as other locations around the country. we're learning more today about the gas transmission pipelines in this city of san francisco. pacific gas and electric has finally provided san francisco with a copy of the map showing all the gas transmission and distribution lines in the city. if the city officials are not releasing it to the public at this time due to security concerns. an initial review is reassuring. >> the pressure of the line it sambar knows approximately three and a 7 5 lbs. per square inch is one of told. the lines coming in san francisco which is reassuring is about half that or less than half that approximately 145 to 1 50 lbs.

due to an unusual surge in tips coming in to one east bay location. kron 4 take a look at this a trend. >> this is a surveillance photo of a suspect recently and rested for rabin is bank of america in oakland after someone in the community sure and called in a tip to police. oakland police say was that tip that led them to finding and arresting a suspect earlier this week. in fact opd said there's been a turnaround and the overall attitude of the community as it relates to people coming forward and white to help investigators solve crimes. oakland police say tips of lead to many lesser-known cases being solved that point to a pair of higher profile crimes that the murder in oakland uptown back in april after releasing his view of two suspects they were arrested following tips phoned in by the community. back in july the murder of virginia man in town applying for jobs

san francisco bay. the project is part of a more than four half billion dollar regional water system improvement program. it will be part of the had she water system they need water to millions of people the bay area. city officials say will help bring water to the bay area after any major earthquake >> this is the entry shaft the only title will be built without any intermediate shaft that means the tunnel boring machine will be lowered from this location and workers will every day will enter a work site for this location. we have a machine that's being built especially for this project its custom built to the exact route condition that we're anticipating to encounter. the >> tunnel is expected to be completed by 2015 and heather donald explains how the tunnel will be built. >> this is where the water tunnel will go we will stretch 5 mi. under the san francisco bay from menlo park to new work sending water to dozens of cities along the peninsula.

into the fact that this microbial role should may have played a part in the san bruno blast. what that means is there was water and bacteria in the pipe which aid away at it and made it stand. before it tomorrow that and how there was a similar blast in arizona 10 years ago we want to show you what's going on here in san bruno now. crews of just packed up for the day but you can see there's that one lot which is empty all that is left is dirt. they've been doing a lot of work here cleaning the debris but as you can see as we move up the street, there are two more homes and many other homes where nothing has been touched. the foundation, the chimney, the burned out cars all the debris still stands as cruise slowly work their way through the 37 homes that have been completely destroyed. we have seen them they've been spreading down the street, spreading the debris with water and they also have these large pieces of equipment

including dumpsters on the back of flatbed trucks which they're feeling what all this debris. you can see now all around this neighborhood there's a lot of it which can be cleared out any conceal lot more across the street and there's still a lot of work to be done. investigators will be looking into this microbial or roche and there was a blast in arizona at 10 years ago which had similar factors. >> take a look side-by-side at the striking similarity. the greater on the left was caused by the gas line explosion in san bruno. the crater on the right was left by the gas line explosion in new mexico in 2000. federal investigators ruled the cause of the arizona pipeline rupture was internal corrosion which can be seen in this picture. it caused a significant reduction in the pipes thickness. the corrosion was a combination of microbes and moisture. according to the san francisco chronicle pg&e told state regulators last year that

they were concerned about corrosion in the section of pipe that ruptured in san bruno. a piccinni's spokesperson said microbial groschen is where and the utility has just made seven repairs for that type of groschen in the past five years. one of the findings by federal investigators and years of a blast was at the gas company failed to prevent or detect internal groschen in the pipe and that a major safety issue is the inadequacy of the gas company's internal corrosion testing. today reporters were taken on a tour of the clean up area and given a closer look at how crews are working and cleaning up the site. kron 4 rob got a closer look. >> near the san bruno were the chief of police and the head of san mateo county environmental health department gave the media tour of the demolition process and said the line. let's take a look. >> some of the properties we haven't gotten to in some properties we began with. >> clement driver what's left of
