it is our foot for cal train riders which is a fare increase. rob tells us about that and some other actions to improve our cal train today trad. as of januaryt next year riders may want to arrive at the station with a pocketful of orders filled because fares are going up 25¢ per zone. the one where you board doesn't count but after that you will pay an extra 25¢ per zone. their six sons between san francisco and san jose to the maximum increase for the entire run will be a $25. after effective january 1st the will be fewer trains during the week for midday trains to each way

christine conley walks us through the finding. >> this report compares san francisco parking meters to 13 other major cities. they found only two other cities have higher fees for downtown parking meters like this one on first and market. chicago charges $4.25 an hour to park downtown los angeles for dollars. san francisco is not far behind with a fee of $3.50 an hour for downtown parking meter. to me in charge for other major cities was a $25 an hour. if parking meter rates and services go have bought three times since 1992. it used to cost $1.50 an hour to park downtown. san francisco has a tiered system so cost more to park downtown meter if the one like this in a neighborhood commercial district. the fines are also cheered. the most expensive ticket is for parking in an expired meter downtown that will cost you $65. if the only other place that matches that is new york city. the money

clipper card system. clippers and the system being used by muni and other mass transit agencies all over the bay area. it was supposed to travel faster and easier but as kron 4 to towns and explains tonight the problems are frustrating passengers. it's a story all see only on kron 4. >> getting on the 49 bus clipper card in hand but the reader didn't work. the screen said not responding. the metropolitan transportation commission said the clipper card reader and san francisco buses to work many times because the boss isn't pulling off power from the overhead lines to power the reader. it shuts down altogether or rain boots. >> the best erodes said it didn't work and i was the money already and i only had it for today's. >> the clock inside many of the clipper card readers on the bus when used discarded eliminates the need for paper transfer ticket trade or 43 buses that were identified on muni, ec transit and a golden gate

approved both a fair increase and service cuts in an effort to close a $2.3 million budget deficit. effective january 1st fares are going up 25 cents per zone. there are six zones between san francisco and san jose but the first one doesn't count so the maximum increase is $1.25 for the full ride. in addition, also effective january 1st, 4 midday trains will be eliminated to each way between 9am and 3pm. and one other change is effective tomorrow, you will no longer be able to buy tickets at either of the two remaining ticket windows in san jose and the other in san francisco. so from now on effective tomorrow, friday, you'll get your tickets from one of those attending machines. finally, in an effort to increase revenue and ridership, they voted to approve an experimental program pilot program effective january 1st, where they're going to add 4 new express or bullet trains on the weekends each way. they're turning on ridership if it's up 10% those bullet trains could
