to the lawyer and what they have told is the officers mayor is not vacant. gavin newsome is still the mayor until he leaves office. those lawyers are telling the board of supervisors that right now that the select someone to be the next mayor the reaction be to people assigned to that same office. those discussions are still ongoing at this point. who was on the short list to be? here's a few of them. who's on the short list to be san francisco is next mayor? first of the city administrator and lead. he is appointed to the position in 2005 by near newsome and recently dealt with the logistics of issuing marriage licenses during the court battle of same-sex marriage. his lawyer is also serve five years as the city's director of public works. then there's at harrington the chief of san francisco public utilities commission. he oversees a staff of 1700 employees and a budget of 400 million.
