workers for santa clara county received layoff notices yesterday. it will affect 25 social workers which makes up about 40 percent of the staff. there's time to check-in on children in foster care or group homes. the layoffs are as a result of budget cuts and will delay placing the children in permanent homes as well as other services. >> were going to see more foster kids in foster care, high risk kids that are not going to be served properly. we'll definitely see more placements and disruption and will have siblings that will be seeing each other on a regular basis. >> the marston porn thing is to find families for these kids. family is important for everyone in society. it's not only important it's all so forth that were supposed to find us. >> those layoffs go into effect on february 9th.

looking at the numbers and break it down for us. >> some families are at or below the poverty level and only making ends meet with social services. the cutbacks are going to be dramatic. as far as metical families will now have to pay a $5 co pay for doctor visits and $50 for emergency room services. when top of that state payments to doctors will be cut by 10 percent which could make it more difficult for low- income families to find doctors. in terms of cal works the child care benefits that are provided so people can work or look for work are to be trimmed from 60 months to 48 months. monthly grants to families are to be cut by 13 percent. for family of three thats $90 less each month. i spoke to a single mother of two and she doesn't know how she's going to make it going forward. >> i'm barely making up for my rent and so i could not make copayments for either
