my this is kron 4 news @ 5:30 p.m.. >> a 5:30 p.m. a disturbing discovery in san francisco, the body of a woman found inside a burning car in san francisco lower heat neighborhood. it as kron 4 dan curman reports, authorities are trying to figure out just what happened. >> about 3:15 a.m. when a lower state residents woke up to a series of explosions. >> i heard a boom. >> this residents said the explosion forced to read of bed and into the window. >> i was shocked to see this car was sitting across the street, burning. it was completely engulfed. >> once the fire was so

committed discovery the body of a woman inside the charge vehicle. when the afternoon residents were dropping off flowers near the scene. as pleas went door to door to see if anyone had heard anything. police say it's still too early to determine what are not this was a homicide, they say it's up to the medical examiner to determine the cause of death. some of the key questions, was the woman dead before the car was set on fire? and if so how did she die? police have video from this surveillance video located a block away at webster and hate, will shed some light on what actually happened. >> it's not a safe neighborhood and we have to be careful what kinds of the day we go out. >> those who live and work here say up until recently the neighbor had been saved. now they're on edge. >> it's one of those situations what's going to happen next is which you feel. >> did in who runs this record said just a few days ago of man was stabbed to death after he attacked someone with a shovel. >> when he presents around

they'd meet the driver earlier so we can talk to them. we have word from the way. the meeting in response to an alarming increase in the homicide rate in san jose. san a seven homicide since the beginning of the year. many more times . will the most recent homicide the murder of 18 year-old cuban, and said to be gang-related. members of the police department gangs task force will be here, this is a meeting that's open to everybody, especially people who live in neighborhood. the debtor behind his announcing the meeting at 6:00. there will be opportunities for the public to get up and speak, to offer their suggestions for how to curb the violence to keep this from becoming a more dangerous city. and the public will also be able to ask questions of city officials of how to keep themselves and their kids safe. this is a meeting that was called very quickly in response to this homicide. san jose of course, also possibly considering

oakland police chief anthony batts for top position in the san jose police department. that's made a big deal in oakland about curbing gang violence and stopping the retaliatory shootings that take place after the first shooting. this meeting will be once again open to the whole community and starts in just about half an hour. in san jose, jonathan blum. >> oakland hopes of new program will curb violence in the east bay city and others. accounting and committee members to help secure a two-hundred 50to under0 in grants. selected by the pet to refresh project to compete nationally for that brand. the program aims to combat violence in these days for the arts. to receive the grant though, they must accumulate at least 2000 on light votes per day until the end of the month. the watch continues at half moon bay as servers stand by for the mavericks are contests. the waves are

i francisco public works received a $350,000 state grant to help combat illegal dumping. the focus will be in the bay view section of san francisco, where toxic dumping as a major problem. stanley roberts takes a look around the bay view to show you just how bad the problem is in this edition of people behaving badly. >> your looking at the reflection of a fence on a book of motor oil. this but it was illegally dumped in the street. the sad part, this is a common event if you happen to visit or live in the bay view section of san francisco. there's a lot of illegal dumping that's been going on in the bay view for several years. while some people have made good use of the illegally dumped items, >> (laughter) and a tv. >> the dumping appears to be

it's been with good weather, big chunks of the country are suffering cruelly. this is in the east of new york city, it's completely encased in ice. people were gathered around looking at it like it was an exhibit. it was showered with water from a water main break. for talking windshield's dipping to as much as 50 below zero. the arctic cold in the northeast is so bad amtrak has suspended part of its service, trains were not running monday between albany and york because signals and switching equipment keeps freezing. in north haven conn., a woman's frozen body was found here in the driveway of a home. the 50 year-old had fallen and died in the subzero temperatures. wind chill advisories' are being issued for much of the northeast

san francisco public works just received a $350,000 state grant to help combat illegal dumping and the focus will be in bay view section of san francisco where toxic dumping is a major problem. stanley roberts takes a look around the bay view to show you just how bad the problem is in this edition of people behaving badly. >> you're looking at the reflection of a fence on a bucket of motor oil. this but it was illegally dumped on the street. the sad part, this is a common event if you have to visit or live in
