are higher. it's a tight supply of commodities things like wheat and corn. there's a higher demand for food internationally. the prices went up 1.8% in january. let's see how that translates into how much you're buying at the store. eggs in ground beef, comparing nationwide average as from january of this year to january of last year. the average cost of eggs is a $81, that's up 2¢ from last year a pound of ground beef is $2.99, that's an increase of 16¢ from the year before. the sticker shock comes with some of the high-end items like cheese. a pound of cheddar cheese is now averaging about $5.14. last year was $4.72. that's a difference of 42¢. let's take a look at how much prices of risen over time. at pound of coffee, nuts
