live from the kron 4 news station, this is the kron 4 news. >>pam: tonight the chain reaction catastrophe. a new explosion and the damaged nuclear power plant. three are in danger of melt on the country is hit by ruling power outages. the number of refugees reaches one half million. >> at 6:00 p.m. rescue crews searched for survivors we are getting word of a new problem that one of the quake damaged nuclear power plants. explosions have

raised fears of a radiation leak. the japanese admit they might not be able to do with this problem alone and have appealed for international help. catherine heenan has more. >>catherine: >catherine: the japanese government is asking for international help to help with the growing nuclear rods are probably melting in the three reactors. >> this is not a hollywood disaster film. doctors and radiation suits are checking for radiation poisoning. the evacuees from the south power plant from saturday's 8.9 earthquake. this is the new epicenter of the disaster. three of the four reactors are out of control. today, the building housing one of them blew up leaving the reactor exposed. inside the temperatures are soaring. the water using to cool has fluctuated. today, the prime minister announced for a nuclear crisis center. he appealed for international experts to help a worst case scenario. the fuel rods are burning through the containment and releasing
