are working to do to get it reopened. >>jeff: the look of this, a large tree on the hillside have to be cut down because of road where the tree was growing. the tree made a loud crash and it wasn't the only one. of several trees with compromise troops had to be cut and hauled away. it wasn't just the trees, the hillside was still sliding by midday. this hillside is made from rock and dirt. this rock is not very stable, it comes off very easily. the slide was discovered around 9:00 a.m. and chp closed the highway so caltrans crews to get the dirt and rocks called away. workers were working hard all day, cutting tree branches. caltrans is going to send geologist to survey the land in the highway will reopen when scientists say it is safe. reporting live, kron 4 news. >>pam: kron 4 jeff pierce continues our team coverage from the oakland hills.

sight. in oakland, jeff kron 4 news. >>pam: in berlin game at a parking complexes with recovering from the mess the rain left behind. a parking garage flood damage cars and property there. kron 4 was there to show us what the people are dealing with the day after the storm. >>reporter: thursday's storm left a mess of this apartment building in berlin game. this underground garage was flooded, more like a swimming pool. he could see how high the water went. this encompassed the entire parking rush. crew spent the day cleaning the mud, twigs and leaves today, some owners sifted through the belongings. you can see some of the items are still on the ground, much soaked and muddy. cars parked that water damage. one residents said their car was ok and i felt lucky considering how much water was in here. earlier in the week. the was a long standoff that ended in him being arrested. the classmate he shot is in stable condition tonight. authorities say 58 year-old lonnie franklin jr. killed 10 people over 20 year span. this is franklin in court and alley. prosecutors deciding whether to go after the death penalty. in new hampshire, the young man in the middle has been found guilty of a horrible murder. a machete killing of a murder in 2009. 21 year-old christopher was also convicted of trying to kill the woman to lead an year- old daughter. he had claimed to be insane. he is been given life in prison. the interesting new way to get deadbeat parents to pay up in kentucky. this is a local pizza place and the owner is putting fliers of faces of those people all over the boxes he uses in deliveries. law officials said they

homeowners in san paulo. the look of the pictures. the hillside is crumbling away. this is over the scene of the six homes that have been affected in the area. three at the top of the hill and three at the bottom of the hill. you could see the massive damage there. kate thompson is in san pablo tonight with a look at the huge problem facing these homeowners. >>kate: right now i'm watching leon walker who owns this home. he is the gentleman there in the dark jacket. all of his friends are trying to target his entire backyard. he could see the massive amounts of plastic that they're laying down trying to cover all of the problem that has been damaged and sliding downhill. they're letting the top down to try and protect the land from any more water saturation. he lives here with his wife and two children. last night they decided it wasn't safe
