>>live, from the bay area's news station, this is kron4 news at 5:30 p.m. >>pam: residents trapped by the big slide finally able to get through. >>rob: you can see crews on friday and finally managed to clear one lane through the road here. one lane only. the other lane is still under the mud. the slide here cut off several dozen families who live above the slide in including the swedish patriotic community, also the entrance to the county park. there will be out here for a long time because the slide remains very active.

the clouds are starting to pull in over the golden gate bridge. cooler temperatures at this hour. look at how much temperatures have cooled along the coastline. 67 and san francisco, a low seventies in oakland and hayward. the cooling will continue in our oakland shores. as for the forecast for the a's game, high clouds will continue to stream in, winds will kick up and temperatures will drop off. 67 a game time and 60 by the end of the game. tonight into tomorrow, cloud cover will increase this evening into the overnight hours. tomorrow morning a slight chance of light showers. i don't think we will see rain but we will have to disguise and cooler temperatures. winds will be strong along the coastline and the higher elevations. we'll talk all about that and look at when it will warm up coming out of bed.

>>pam: san francisco is facing a fiscal crisis. for today we caught city's workers spending hours landscaping a local park. to lisa looks at how the city spends taxpayer dollars civil times a year on improving flower beds.

>>terisa: take a look at all this activity, i found the san francisco recreation and park employees putting in flowers in eight different spots. i was told the colors are red, white and blue in honor of the america's cup coming to the city. the department does the switch out three times a year. the cost per year, $21,000. then there is the cost of the workers. on this day there were 32 city workers out here for five hours. and you paid for it. the department spokesperson defended the expenditure in this tough economy telling kron 4 news that they believe the money is well spent. she says they have found by maintaining the parks, putting in flowers it helps keep the area safe and clean which is part of their mission. this area is often used by the homeless as a hang of spot. she also adds that just like other departments they are doing more with less these days. the department is down 60 employees from last year. as

jose. grant is here with us now with the latest on the search for missing boy. >>mark: happy ending. they say three-year-old as a look hasn't found. san jose police just announcing he was last seen just before noon today. police found him, a happy ending to that story. >>pam: great. we want to move on to some other news of the day. baseball returns to the bay area, the a's kick off their campaign tonight at the oakland coliseum after the world series champion giants stumbled at of the gate last night. one of their fans as left critically injured, attacked outside dodger stadium right after the game. tonight how the days are trying to prevent such incidents from happening at their games. it is opening day for the oakland athletics, the team getting ready to take on division rivals. seattle mariners. vern is live at the coliseum with more.
