flooding. san francisco mayor races off to a look of stark. several candidates are already sitting on large campaign chests. however big chunk of that money comes from the taxpayers. san francisco is one of the few cities that provides free taxpayer dollars to the candidates. and our continuing series, you paid for it, that money could be used to save jobs during the tough economic times. >>terisa: already in the mayor's race the city has paid out nearly $1 million in taxpayer money to three candidates. that $1 million could pay for six police officers, six nurses or 10 street cleaners and you paid for. six months away from election the race is far from being over. that means more taxpayer dollars could be spent on the campaign. in fact, there are 35 candidates to file papers to run for mayor in san francisco. with our finance

>>rob: latest numbers released by the san jose city manager's office painted a grim picture for all city employees. as many as 588 city workers could be affected one way or another through layoffs, seniority bay stop bumping or attrition. that includes 195 this one san jose police officers, 64 firefighters, 182 people working in neighborhood services and 72 librarians. the city said the number of layoffs could be higher on us all city workers agree to take a 10% pay cut. budget hearings get underway later this month. the final draft a budget message to out in june, followed by any and all actual layoffs on the first of july. in san jose, kron 4 news. >>pam: the mayor said the only way to fix the budget mess is to ring and what he says are runaway public

outside, you could see their letting the cocktail and it will throw one more break through the door and then the two suspects run away. >>pam: oakland police are looking for a least one person who led them on a police chase this afternoon that ended with the crash near 82nd. police say the suspected driver hit another car with the woman and two children inside. the children are reportedly find the woman was taken to the hospital. please have the parameters set up to try and trap the suspects who they do consider dangerous. san francisco please have a man in custody suspected of attacking and 84 year-old man at fisherman's wharf. they say tuesday the suspect was practicing crotty and the man was walking by one they say the suspect grabbed him by the neck and through him to the ground. the elderly man is being treated at a hospital with life- threatening injuries. the suspect faces to felonies.
