between casey and this friend on the stand. as more comes and i will be sure to bring them to you. >> 6:17 a.m.. let's take a look at this hot spot policy of the traffic in oakland is doing any better. >> nearly after a five-six powerful freeway closure, once a lanes have been great opens, which they did just moments ago, all of the traffic backed up that reached to broadway has disappeared. traffic is flowing normally on 880 northbound. will tran had to leave the scene because they reopened to the roadway and traffic came by in such a rush, that has to clear the media oz of the location. the last time we checked this, the backup was to broadway, but because they managed to move everything before 7:00 a.m., nearly a full hour ahead of schedule, they have managed to avoid a huge nightmare. this

could have affected traffic all over the east thankfully all it did not create any unusual problems for any of the bridget's. the nimitz freeway northbound through oakland's, everything is back to here we are at the bay bridge, we are probably minutes away from scene of the metering lights. on the san mateo bridge, the ride still looks good. lighter than normal for the west down side -- was found side.

the golden gate bridge is still a problem free. 6:19 a.m., a check on the weather was james fletcher. >> here is a look from the roof camera showing in the cloud cover possible thunderstorms by this afternoon. things will dry out as we head into the evening and overnight. let's take a quick look at where the rain is falling, it is still offshore but it is tracking towards the north a coastline. we are dealing with some light rain already falling around the bay. you can see where it is concentrated, we have some falling out near richmond, just north of richmond as you head towards vallejo. concord, walnut creek, that stretch of highway

13 getting a little wet and out near antioch. all of this is tracking to the east and slightly to the north. that is the direction the storms are moving. they will get more intense by 9:00 a.m.. by noon, they really popped up in severity. heavy rains in the north bay, a heavy sell projected to be just off the san francisco coastline. this line of showers will roll through. by 2:00 p.m., the bulk of it will be to our east and we will still have scattered showers here and there. by 5:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. things will clear out. the good news is, the system does not last very long. the bad news is, it is not the only one we're watching. here is where temperatures will be this afternoon. ahhere is your 7 day

forecast. again, we are watching a second storm system. we have a break on thursday but the storms on friday may be heavier, an inch or more rain falling from that and it is long-lasting. we will be what throughout the weekend. >> a former bart employee he will likely be released from prison after a shooting death of a board passenger. he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to jail. he should be released sometime in june. community activists are no happier now than they were when the verdict came out. they plan to take to the streets when messily is released.

much rain we're looking for and how long it will last. that is coming up in our next update. >> we started this morning with a hot spot on the nimitz freeway. the freeway northbound was completely shut down with a big rig accident and diesel spilling all over the roadway. if the roadway has not completely reopens. the lanes are clear and traffic is moving once again a on 880 northbound although it had backed up to broadway leading up to 980 were the detour was in place. it is no longer a factor in the commute, but traffic may still slow a bit in the area because of the absorbent that was laid down and swept up by caltran cruz. good news for the ride on a 880. no other hot spots. let's check the bay bridge first. the metering lights have been activated. we are already seeing a back up mostly in the right lane of the 880

a good ride on the san mateo and the golden gate bridge looks great. no problems for 101 southbound heading out of navato heading down to the toll plaza. let's get more on this developing story on what caused the accident on the freeway. >> according to the highway patrol, and to the driver was going recklessly and slammed into a big rig causing it to spilled 200 gal. of diesel. they're still searching for the driver of that car. they spent

hours clearing up all the diesel. the driver the cause of the accident, we do not know how he got away. that driver left the vehicle at the scene in and got into another car to flee the area. right now, that are still searching for the driver. there was another car involved in the accident, three people in the second car received non-life threatening injuries. reporting from northbound 880, and will tran, kron 4 news. >> 60 5:00 a.m., police in hayward are expanding their investigation of the disappearance of a nursing student michelle week. they are examining her car inside and out. it could take time to get the results back from the crime lab. they are looking at security cameras from the hospital in hayward where she was as much as 24 hours before she went missing. new problem, a disabled big rig northbound around a fifth. there is a slow traffic at the 980 interchange that is blocking the right hand lane. the highway patrol is on scene. the freeway was shut down for five-six hours because of the diesel spilled their resulted from an accident involving a big rig. on the bay bridge westbound, it is not bad at all. the metering lights have been on for half an hour. the right lanes, the connecting ramp from 80 the end of the center lanes, on the san mateo bridge, lighter than usual, especially in the westbound direction. maybe a little heavier eased down, but no delays or problems. the golden gate bridge is a problem free coming in from marin county. so far, no slow
