budget battle as the kron4 news starts now good morning to you. >> weather is a big story. james fletcher has the latest. >> i got a fantastic view. mound tam looking out over the bay and you can see the blanket of fog with beautiful brilliant skies above. all of that orange. going to be a nice day and cooler with coast and bay area fog this morning. but come this afternoon we are looking for warmer temperatures with the inland highs in the 90s and we will continue the warming trend for for the weekend but we will get a quick update from george first. we have a potential and developing hot spot on the nemitz boulevard the ramp has

been closed on 29th avenue in connection with an investigation taking place on city streets. high street and 23rd are easily handling the traffic and no backup but we have learned that the ramp won't be opened until 7:30 so it may create problems later on. 6:02. we want to go to fairfield where they are having a conference after a giant fire. the company makes plastic containers and tons of them burned in this huge inferno and luckily the firefighters, a crew crew of firefighters that kept this thing contained to just containers because otherwise it would spread to the building so none of the employees was hurt. they think it happened from one of the employees lighting with a torch or something and caught

a plastic container on fire, either a torch or lighter they were using and jackie is waiting for the press conference and as we look at the damage do you think they will talk about the cause or actually jackie is setting up as we are waiting. you can see this entire fence melted from that huge, just a fire ball. we were above from a chopper and you could feel the flames and see them for miles and they had dozens of firefighters out there. so as we look at the twisted metal from the fire. we are hoping they will talk about the investigation and what does it mean, work as usual or what they will be doing from the cleanup, we will have more as it happens and give it to you live. we want to go to oakland, a developing story, chp chase on 80 ends with the death after

driver they are chasing. wil has more. >> reporter: the investigation will be here until 7:30 this morning and another 90 minutes we have learned that the driver was 19-year-old oakland resident. police saw him on international and the police say he was weaving in and out of traffic and possibly alcohol related. they tried to pull over the car and the driver refused and hop on the exit and lost control of the car and slammed into the crossing and ejected from the car. they think alcohol might have played a role in this and i believe they have found alcohol containers around the car. as far as this place, it is east 8th avenue and you can see it is still shut down at this time and not having any impact so far on northbound 880.

back to you. this was a high-speed chase or police following back some? >> reporter: the miss say waits not a high-speed chase but going with the word pursuit. as far as they were going was only 45 miles per hour and it only lasted about 8 minutes so it only span spanned a few miles from here and the officer was not behind the honda accord, he was a couple feet back and the driver was just going too fast. it was a short exit and he gets off and you have a right turn and he simply did not make it. thank for the update and we will check back with wil to see when they will reopen the off ramp on 29. this into the kron4 newsroom, the military says an unarmed international ballistics missile has been destroyed after it blasted off here in california. the minuteman three missile was

destroyed because of safety concerns. there are no details as to what went wrong. it is 6:06 and in national news, housespeaker john boehner is in the process of reworking his detective ceiling plan after the congressional budget office analyzed it and said it would cut billions less than promised. the vote was set for today but it is postponed until tomorrow. john boehner is said to be running into opposition from tea party conservatives and the house says president obama would veto the bill even if somehow it passes the house and the senate. california is running into their own debt troubles as a result of the national debt problem. the state is borrowing five billion dollars from private investigators just in case the feds don't do the debt ceil hang we captain get any federal money doing it as a hedge

back at 6 and giving you an update. this is our camera looking back at the bay bridge believe it or not. that stream of headlights going into san francisco but you can't make out the towers with all of the fog out there and that's what we are dealing with. the peninsula and north bay and got pretty much socked in conditions been in san jose they are looking at much better conditions and low cloud cover but none of that fog. in san jose and the great south bay we are looking at conditions nice and warm and santa clara 83 and partly cloudy at 3:00 and morgan hill the warmest on this list is 88 and mostly sunny. we will have a complete check of your bay area coming up. world stories that we are following out of norway where parts of oslo station was

evacuated because of an abandoned suitcase where a man walk the away quickly while talking on his cell phone. you see the people evacuate from the station and after about 30 minute examination they didn't find any explosives and the norwegian cap till remains on edge after the car bomb and the mass shooting at a near by youth camp. the attacks focusing on the farm use the by and ders breivik, the 32-year-old norwegian that has confessed and pleaded not guilty. detonated

afternoon partly cloudy and warmer. inland temperatures in the 90s and much more in line which where we should be in july and that fog should return for the evening and overnight hours and rebuild setting us up for another scene like we are seeing right now. let's look at the winds because that will be a fact. they are getting breezy and picking up at sfo and 11 at fremont and the wind is there and that fog. eventually we will pull back and this is where it is on the satellite, you can see it stretching into the north bay from fairfield and petaluma and the bay bridge inundated with a lot of fog. as for had the -- when the fog will burn off? low clouds and fog around the immediate bay and by noontime it will pull back and hanging around the coast and golden gate and by 8:00 p.m.

begin to resurge and towards midnight tomorrow morning you will see it blankets the immediate bay and folks in the east bay east of the oakland hills probably going to be fine but everybody else will be dealing with the fog. by noontime the temperatures will look like this, cooler around the coast and 80s or the 90s. we have antioch and livermore and two of the locations to see 90s and let's fly around and show you neighborhood by neighborhood where we are expecting warm temperatures. losgatos and liver moore looking for 91 degrees and the san ramon valley in that same temperature range as conquer and walnut creek and 83 for

santa rossa and fairfield 89. san francisco 66. every day getting warmer as we peak on saturday and plateau and enjoy the sunshine. at 6:0019. george. we are watching what will become a hot spot. the nemitz freeway as a result of a pursuit in the early morning hours, 29th avenue off ramp is closed and likely not to reopen for another hour. so even though it is not a problem it will become a problem later likely. if this is your route think about leaving early and we will be talking about alternate routes most likely interstate 580 and the upper deck of the bay bridge and the westbound ride, we can see the upper deck but we can see the head lights,

a good ride and the median lights not activated and san mateo bridge, westbound, there are no problems but there is an accident out at the west end leading from the bridge and onto 102 and that accident is expected to clear any moment. if you look at the message sign it is blank and seconds ago it was lit up with the accident so they have cleared it and it won't be of concern to you any longer. a look at the golden gate bridge and that is 101 southbound and through the fog we are delay free from marin county public transit is behind schedule and bart had a stuck vehicle on the traffic at the civic station but that is long gone but some delays from san francisco from the east bay and down towards sf o, give

this fire at an indian reservation near san diego. they will be trying to contain the 21 square mile blaze burning into heavy vegetation and not expected to threaten any structures or populated areas. san francisco mayor ed lee considering running for a full term as he maintains he will not run after he was named interim mayor but now he says that the board of supervisors is urging him to run but he has not make a decision left. we are discussing ed lee's possible run for mayor of san francisco and i'm trying to gauge whether or not people are supportive of this development. sue says she is happy saying i would love to see him run. he has done a great job and gets involved and i love the idea of him running and walter has someone else on his mind

waiting for the opening bell on wall street, four minutes away and stock future negative, once against this morning as lawmakers remain at odds at how to avoid the default. the dow fell down to 12,501 and the nasdaq was off three. some of the market headlines, at a commerce department releasing durable goods order, they are aircraft and autos and they dropped for the second month in a row and the federal

marathon oil is ringing in right now on wall street on the stock exchange. we haven't seen strong reaction from the washington talks. and a quick recap of the top stories, a fatal police research, northbound 880 and oakland is shut down as car led police on a chase and crashed. police think the driver may have been drunk and wil is out there and providing us with reports. a massive six alarm fire is out at a fairfield company this morning but this morning they are talking about what happened and what next so we will have that live as well. this was a huge fire and didn't hurt anybody and was accidentally set by an employee that lit a plastic container on fire with a torch or welder so we are waiting for that press conference and we will take it live. and the detective clock is

it will be in place until 7:20 and by that time it could create a big backup. your best bet is to you use the off ramp or the 23rd off ramp, either of those will handle the traffic without any problems. mark. let's get more on the fatal crash in oakland. kron4 will tran is live. >> reporter: you can see the investigators combing through the white honda accord that has been here since 1:30 this morning. they believe they will get the scene cleared as early as 7:00. it happened at around 1:30 when they tried to pull over a car on 55th and international boulevard. according to the police, they saw the car swerving in and out traffic and tried to pull him over and he refused and a short pursuit took place on the city streets and hopped on northbound 880 and on 29th the driver tried to get off and too fast and could not make the

right turn and crashed. we have learned he was 19 years old from oakland and ejected from the car and taken to the hospital where he died. that's the latest. 6:34 right now and there's supposed to be a press conference within a half hour and we will go there live when it happens about the fire in fairfield that destroyed a bunch of plastic containers at this complex. this is at the macro plant. the pallets are huge, like four feet something. you can see them on the back of trucks. they caught fire and luckily this was away from the building where the employees were and they are okay and nobody was hurt. what they think happened was an employee suddenly lit a plastic container and everything went up in flames and a few firefighters suffered injuries and we're waiting live at the plant right now and kron4 is

jackie thistle is taking a look at the damage. these are the melted parts of the container and they were not touched. you can see they were touched and melted one side and you can see the plastic containers and this huge stack, half of them melted from the intense heat and the other half okay and you can see how hot the fire was and the poles are bent over and still smothering out here and some of the ground it was burned and you talk about the plastic containers, at this plant in fairfield, basically one of the world's largest producers and you can see more stacked up over here and that is what burned. these 4 perform 4 plastic containers on the back of the tracks, they carry produce and other items and we are expecting a press conference from the fairfield fire department but apparently that is not going to happen at this

point. we are waiting to get some new word on when some officials from the city of fairfield or the fire department will come out and give us word on their investigation and also the air quality. obviously this is a huge amount of plastic that went up in smoke and covered the area in fact for a short time yesterday, a shelter in place warning went out and that will be part of the press conference to give us an idea of how the air quality is and was and what may have started this. talked about an employee that may have been welding and set one of these containers on fire and that is part of the investigation and the aftermath as i said darya, the intense heat that must have caused this fence to completely wilt over must have been extremely hot. >> when i saw that giant ball of fire it was like an inferno and i thought will they dump water on it, did they use helicopters or how many crews

got a handle on it. >> reporter: there was a six alarm fire, over 70 firefighters and you can see the amount of water in the field, that huge puddle here and there's mud all over the place, they were dumping as much water as they could and the fear was, you see these plastic containers, it was in a storage yard out back, had they not stopped it, it goes from one stack to another and can reach the manufacturing plant behind that live van so the hope was to contain it which they ultimately did but it took a lot of time and firefighters experts and a lot of water. >> and also looking behind the guy that you have right there the hills, that is dry brush and you can get a wildfire on your hands. >> yes, an industrial area and there's a set of railroad tracks behind that and there is a natural break and you can see the fields to the right and that did set on fire and that was part of the charge, as i said about five acres and there's other industrial

a live look at the san mateo bridge. you can see there's fog and low cloud cover and we got the peninsula and the golden gate bridge and the north bay socked in with that fog and at least on the eastern shore of the bay it is not that bad and just a little overcast and hazy. richmond 68 degrees with sunny skies and this fog will burn off and oakland 72. we'll take a complete look at your weather in a little bit and now back to the news. as we look at national news, take a look at the bad crash that happened in west virginia. you can see the aftermath and here is the damage. look at the cars piled on top of each other. a 21-year-old driver hit a wall and a parked car on a neighborhood street and the suv just went airborne and crashed

good morning, 6:45. let's get you a quick weather check as we look over mount tam and you can see the fog and cloud cover blanketing the bay right now and beautiful up above but this is really hampering the view down below especially in san francisco and other locations too. in fact let's look at the fog on the satellite. you can see it penetrating inland and around the bay than it was just 15 or 20 minutes ago, the fog coming to oakland

down the nemitz way and towards fremont impacting it by the golden bay bridge and dealing with the fog on 101 and be careful. this fog will stay here until noontime and it will back off towards the coast and future cast set there for the fog and a pull back by noon and it will hang there for most of the day top 8:00 p.m. before it emerges its way back in and we will go it towards the bay again and will you wake one a similar scene like today. we will see decent temperatures and in the upper 80s for loss gaitos and in the far east bay, antioch and livermore 80s and

in the north bay low 80s and lower near conquer and martinez to possibly low 90s and the forecast shows the continuing warming trend with temperatures maxing out on saturday with inland spots up near 94 and we will plateau and hold it there for the low 90s and it looks like a warm weather pattern for just not this week but into next week as well and we'll keep an eye on it as well. sunny skies and that's your weather and let's get the latest on your traffic. not tracking any hot spots which is good news but we have been keeping an eye on a potential hot spot on the nemitz spot and it is closed because of a police investigation and a fatal crash that is being pursued by pd and high street or 23rd are still
