morning in the bay area. >> lettuce right to the weather is our top story. >> good morning we still see somewhere roads, the further south you head down peninsula that is when the rain starts to pick up. what you can still see the moisture and thus be prepared for some wet roadways out there and once again, another day where we actually got more than a 10th of an inch of rain in most locations. as a slight one-tenth of an inch in morgan hill, two tenths in richmond, and places like santa rosa is look like we talked out more than a quarter of an inch over the past 24 hours. we story of

getting an idea of where the storm is tracking and this sort of pushing to the south and to the east so catching a break through the north bay in the northern portion of the peninsula, so downtown san francisco at this turn our is certainly dry, but as we take a closer look to where the wet weather is, as you head south down 101 or 280, once you hit the palo alto area we start to pick up some showers. even in some spots of san jose we have moderate downpours and down to evergreen we see a quite a bit of active weather but through antioch it is starting to dry out and we still continue with the left or raindrops in the out to the sierra, we're still doing some snow. it looks as though we are actually looking at the snow up and threw 80 and 50 this morning. now watch as we head towards the afternoon

and i done with the wet weather yet, we're expecting some pop up showers a better chance of picking up some thunderstorms as we head towards the afternoon hour so about 1:00, watch the activity starts to pick up up and through the north bay and then we can actually continued to see that kind of spread southward. the pushes like san raphael and vallejo could see it quite a bit of a thunderstorm activity and then pushing down about a 4:00 hour we can see some pop up thunderstorms in showers. this will last right on through the evening hours. we could actually may be see some isolated scattered hours tonight and wrapping all went over into your thursday as well. here is a look at your seven day around the bay that shows tomorrow we could see some leftover showers after that will clear out just in time for the end of your weekend by the weekend, actually a lot of sunshine for you. temperatures start to rebound of back and to the '70s and could be back into the 80s by next week. clearcut. >> good morning we have a lot of weather-related problems in the area as

what the conditions are like in the north bay. >> rain started falling in marin county early tuesday evening and some people were not prepared for it, these ladies and i have an umbrella. this jogger was also caught off guard the she was wearing a ball cap, the rain fell but this can be causing the water to spill out onto the sidewalk. pg&e crews spent the day preparing for the storm by cutting away huge branches and high winds can cause these trees to topple over into power lines. the spokesperson for the utility company said the crews are on standby. >> we always a bit repositioning cruise in these areas in which the the times according to army urology department when the crew will need to be brought on. when the storm hit this early in the season will we see in a lot of trees in fact some of the leads us still in the branches, so whenever a strong wind hits, that like sales and they can bring entire trees down. >> in the santa cruz mountain, caltrans and county road crews were out

>> will see the band of rain clearing southward, and as we head into the afternoon we start to get some breaks later this morning and then after that a chance of thunderstorms but certainly we are not done with the active whether or the wet weather yet. we also still have some snow up in the sierra as well. we will show you our satellite and radar and show you what is going on right now you can see that active whether pushing off through the foothills. as we take a closer look at that satellite and radar it looks like the storm is pushing up to the east still a lot of unstable weather and what we are watching as we head into the afternoon we will start to see some daytime heating and create some instability in chances of thunderstorms as well. we are certainly expecting pop-up thunderstorms throughout the rest of the day. winter storm warning still in effect in the sierra to the bottom o'clock tonight. we continue to see about 48

additional inches above the 6,000 ft. level about 1 to 2 in. at about 5,000 ft. level. we could see some gusty winds heading up to about 60 mi. per hour. and also pretty low visibility this morning and continuing to create hazardous conditions to make sure to carry change if you are heading in that direction. in terms of the wind, vocal rain may be shifting south but fairly when they. navato 59 per hour winds, about 14 in napa and 15 in oakland these are sustained winds as well getting stronger cussed out there too. temperatures are staying put in the '50s, 57 degrees in san francisco about 58 degrees in oakland and zero we will not see much movement at all with the temperatures in fact today, we may not even escape the '60s and that is in some of the warmest in spots. by thursday may be a few left over raindrops' certainly not a big storm by any means, the active weather would move on through but by friday we would see some nice clearing and saturday and sunday bring us a lot of sunshine.

current hour in downtown san francisco the golden gate bridges still dealing with some what rolled out there. this is how much rain we have seen overnight, it looked like about a 10th of an engine through morgan hill to tent through richmond and places like santa rosa and navato more than one quarter of an inch of the past 24 hours. we continue to see the rainfall totals at up. will took a look right now outside show you where the wet weather is. in fact we will zoom in and show you just to the south of san jose and as we noticed the rain picking up right around the evergreen area. will took a closer look and you can see where 101 that an downtown morgan hill we still continue with what weather. through the livermore valley looks like we start to see some clearing there. the future forecast does show us that within the next hour we will continue to see the wet weather kind of ease up a little bit. but we are not done yet and we certainly

would not be dry for the rest of the day in fact as we head into the afternoon there is a good chance of picking up some thunderstorms. and once we get into the daytime we could see some pop up thunderstorms and heavy rain that time pushing through the afternoon hours by 4:00, there will be widespread showers, heavier downpours that time. this will continued until about 5:00 in fact. it looks like we could even see some scattered activity right after the evening hours and into the early morning hours of your thursday. we was the cool today now leading the 16th.

preparation for the overnight storm, oakland public works department has gone through the area clearing storm drains to help prevent any flooding in this area. >> typically the hillside along skyline boulevard it over saturated during rainy season causing mud and debris to cover storm drains along far the road creating flood conditions. as a precaution along with clearing storm drains, open public works crews must up sandbags to keep the more problematic trains like this when you're at the bottom of this year rolling hills are clear when the rain starts coming down. in the oakland hills are mounting one of the kron4 news. >> the situation the south bay is rather similar, rob fladeboe wraps up our team coverage right now with the wet weather along highway 17. >> the first row what rainmaker of the season. it is upwards of an inch of rain reported in boulder creek and meantime on non

>> we are back at 54118 with the national headlines, the new while fire flared up yesterday afternoon that is burning about 1,000 a. so far and has forced the homeowners of 30 homes to evacuate last month more than 1500 homes were destroyed by blazes over 34,000 a. that was near austin. the cause of this latest fire is unknown. meanwhile, czech of these pictures a helicopter carrying five people on a private tour for a birthday celebration craft in the new york city's east river shortly after taking off from the river bank. one person was killed in this crash and three others injured. this took place yesterday afternoon a british woman that died was visiting the city with her family to celebrate her 40th birthday. police said that
