temperatures are expected to get. no more 80's, we're down to the '70's and even their warmest locations. warming to about 70 degrees in morgan hill about 75 degrees in our view and along the coast you keep it at 65. we are a few degrees warmer and richmond and a few degrees more in san raphael. we are about 75 degrees for san rosa, and about 76 for fairfield. here is your seven day around the bay it will be another cool one and not much change in your temperatures. it is not until friday that the temperatures actually start to blood and start to move upwards as we head towards the weekend it will be a warning tran just-in-time freer saturday and sunday. the time right now is two minutes after 4:00 a.m..

morning it was the crown for a good portion of the morning by 5:00 a.m. we will see that fog in place and by 7:00 a.m. the same story. is not until 10:00 a.m. we will start to see some lifting in the north bay but keeping that around the peninsula and to the east bay and the livermore valley that is until about noon. but even until the afternoon the fog will receive back to the coastline and hanging out on a good portion of the peninsula so still the the cooler in san francisco and along the coast, we will continue to see that and around until the evening hours. your current temperatures right now our sixties. down in the south and the temperatures are low 60s and by about noon, we will bring back into the '60s and '70s but we really will hang out into the '70s and into the afternoon. no 80's are in store for today. we will certainly see a cooler forecast even to the livermore valley about 9 degree drop is expected in livermore to that 76 degrees

here. then we have 74 down and now a view and san jose. will warm up to 73 in redwood city but in san francisco we are not even the '60s, 67 expected in downtown san francisco, 69 for richmond san raphael. the could warm up about one degree in fairfield today. here's your 70 around the bay that shows another cool day in store for tomorrow probably not much in the way of fog but on your friday that sunshine comes out starts warming up if that we will have a lot of sunshine through the weekend we have warmer temperatures and will stay sunny and mild to the beginning of next week. the time right now is 47 minutes after 4:00 a.m. but as a look at your ride with lisa. >>louisa: the volume of traffic is certainly building here however no metering lights to deal with in that overnight construction that i have been talking about rocket our is being in the process of being picked up, your drive time is running at about eight minutes to 9

transit, bart, and caltrain this morning. >> justine: thank you so much now the bay area bridges are in bad shape this is coming from a transportation watchdog group. san francisco had the highest number of bridges considered to be structurally deficient. jeff bush shows the problem and tell us what is being done about it. >>reporter: it is easy to get your driving on a bridge when you come into san francisco on how we 101 but you are. there was a report released and they will use this a national bridge inventory as their source. san francisco has 40 bridges that qualify as structurally deficient. the 101 isn't listed several times in the report with a different problem reported. things like problems on the roadway and broken or damaged guard rails. one of the worst bridges is one that most the would not notice that

they're on is a short bridge that goes over jfk drive you can see major cracking in brittle concrete along the top reeling in below the roadway. taken out it is cracked and so badly damaged back to this large peace with my hand. what is more, the potential danger of the piece falling on the jfk drive which is popular for runners, bicyclist and cars. other bridges in the report already been fixed. --being fixed. >> justine: the safety of bay area bridges as well are developing stories that we are following this morning will be coming up at 5:00 a.m.. >>gabe: here is your take headline remember the motorola razor flip phone from years ago will motorola

around 1040 last night. kron4 will tran is live at the oakland police department headquarters he has an update right now on the investigation into the shootings. >>reporter: the us talk about the first shooting that he talked about, the two boys were shot by another boy and we do not know exactly how this boy got his hands on the gun or how old he is. the oakland police department are classifying him as a juvenile. he could be a boy, or he could be a teenager nonetheless they're still searching for him at this hour, the second shooting that you talked about the oakland police department not exactly sure what happened there searching for who did this this could be a self-inflicted wound. we do not know what the investigators are out there up a phone call into the open police department as soon as i get more informational plan--passed

area wide this morning, nothing to heavy at ground level just yet but we do have conditions across pretty much the entire day stretching as far as livermore. i temperatures are on the outside, 16 san francisco a little warmer in oakland about 66 is all it will be. it is 61 degrees down in san jose and 59 degrees in santa rosa. as for this afternoon like i said before to they will be the coolest a day of the week this is the data we have been watching and waiting for this the data are temperatures will be at their lowest and easy the highs are only at about 70 degrees in oakland maybe seven to degrees in hayward and fremont mid-70s in san jose and upper '70's down in los gatos, morgan hill and out to the east and antioch, brett wood, livermore and all those locations will be in the mid to upper '70's and that is about as warm as it will get, 72 degrees below we are calling for an navato. santa rosa you only

want up to about 75 degrees i will have your 70 forecast coming up in just a minute to see where temperatures go from here they will start to warm-up will then recover in time for the weekend on that in a minute now we have traffic with george. >> the morning showing the we were about to launch into a traffic report we're looking and no hot spots in the ride at the bay bridge when we discovered this problem in san francisco and you can see the inbound traffic on the freeway is at a stop so is the south bound 101 ride, it appears that the chp may be running a traffic break on 101 south bound not yet know the reason why but clearly something is happening on the streets of san francisco erica is checking in the traffic center to see if we can find out any information there is a report of an accident at octavius street with the not affect the right here that is the outbound central freeway. we will check to see what will cause this

problem but certainly it looks like a hot spot and let us start with the bay bridge in your west bound ride, you can see there is no back up leading to the bay bridge as you can download delays coming from the macarthur maze. your ride to the san mateo bridge is pretty good, it looks good in both directions the golden gate bridge, again it looks free of fog. coming in from the east bay the ride looks good. that means speed in excess of 50 mph in the same is true for the south bay. now wants to zoom in on a problem up in petaluma. this is on highway 116. there is a report of a vehicle that struck a power pool so crews are out there at the scene is most likely not to reopen until 6:30 a.m. use 101 or arnold drive and sure alternate.

the bay area the highest metropolitan area around the country as you said about 21% in this agency, the transportation for america it is kind of a trade association it says that california we only have about 24,000 bridges in over 3000 those are structurally deficient. everything from the structures themselves to the roadways, all crumbling and falling apart. they say that america and california need to reinvest in making the bridge is more safe, they say that this will cost about $70 billion nationally to fix all the bridges in the round out to about $5 billion per year. >> when you prioritize and as a driver and as a commuter you want to know is there a top tier that is actually dangerous to drive one them on there website

they have a list of what they call structurally deficient and the highlight them in red and this is one of those, this is one that they say if a high priority so they have a list as you said about 380 around the bay area that are in that category. >> the report includes many bridges in the bay area and bridges in the san jose area have the highest efficiency rate--the efficiency rate. now they say deficiency does not mean a bridge is in imminent danger of failing which is what you probably want to know as you drive over it, what this means is that work or more inspections are needed. we will be back with more in a couple of minutes. @

>>darya: we are in the traffic center with george talking about this tanker fire. traffic in san francisco was stopped. now, you can see the reason why. the chp has shut down 101 southbound. in the background you will notice that traffic is getting by in the northbound. there is a tanker that is likely overturned. it is on fire. there is a tanker on fire on the freeway. i am a little curious about why the northbound traffic is still getting through.

at your 7 day around the bay. today is the coldest day of the week. we're looking for a pleasant weekend. >>mark: out of ohio, school districts are closed. there is a sign, there are dozens of wild exotic animals, loose. officers with assault rifles and pickup trucks where they found the owner of dead and all of the

animal cage doors open. there were 40 animals on the preserve. authorities have killed up to 30 of them. >>officer: there were grizzly bears, black bears, cheetahs, lions and tigers. those are the primary things that we would be concerned with, any kind of cat species or bear species is what we are mainly concerned about. >>mark: state and local police are working with people from the columbus zoo including jack hanna, in order to try to locate some of the animals. 25 of them could still be on the loose. residents are being told to stay indoors. >>george: we have a picture of the fire in san francisco that has shut down highway 101. this is 101 southbound at hospital curve near the ups building, this is the cab of a truck on fire. this

is why the freeway is shut down right now. fire crews are working to distinguish this fire. 101 southbound, the roadway has been shut down because of this fire.

major problem and hot spot in san francisco. a truck is on fire. originally it was reported that a tanker overturned and caught the flames are now extinguished. there are fire crews on the scene. this is the location of the problem, southbound, right at the north end of hospital curve near the ups building. it was originally reported that the tanker was on fire. it turns out it was the cab of one of the trucks involved. it was a big fire and a major incident. although the fire is out, there could still be damage to the pavement. there is a six car

accident that still needs to be cleared. again, avoid the westbound bay bridge. do not get on the inbound central freeway. use interstate to 80 either from sixth street or from the embarcadero by way of kings history. we have reporters on the scene. we'll have more information when the kron 4 morning news returns.

traffic from the end down a central freeway has nowhere to go. traffic coming off of the upper deck has nowhere to go. it you have the ninth street exit or the fremont street exit right off the bridge. if you do not get off their or at the central freeway you will be stuck in this back up. even though the fire is extinguished there is no indication that they will be reopening the roadway anytime soon. there is still a six car crash and an overturned takenker to deal with. and they will be activating the tangible message signs. if you are heading to san francisco, and did not take the bay

bridge. >>george: the fire was right over here but now, the fire is out, even so there is a multi car crash and the heat from the fire that has to dissipate. there could have been damage done to the pavement. they will have to bring some emergency vehicles on from this is our

chavez emergency ramp in order to attend to some of the people involved in the >>darya: how should people plan around this? >>george: use interstate 280 to get out of the city. either king street or sixth street to get on to 280. you could also take potrero south. if you get on the james lick freeway south of hospital occurred near army street or cesar chavez, you will not be influenced. this will back up the northbound ride heading into san francisco because of all

that activity. >>erica: fortunately we do not have any other hot spots around the bay area. people driving westbound towards the city have not heard the word just yet. there are no metering lights to deal with just yet. >>erica: on the san mateo bridge, george is recommending this as your alternate route towards the peninsula. this ride is completely unaffected. a 14- 50 minute drive time and at the golden gate bridge, southbound 101, a pretty clear shot towards san

>>james: here is a live look from the roof camera looking out toward san francisco. we are able to see the buildings clearly. the fog is not terrible just yet, but we do have overcast conditions. all over the bay area we are running cloud cover. in some spots a could be turning into fall primarily at the coast. we could see drizzle as well. temperatures are on the cool side. by noon, 70's and the mix. the colors and did not change very much. widespread cooley, especially in the inland valleys.

responding to this tanker accident that also involves six vehicles and has shut down the highway. you will definitely have to look at an alternate route as you try to get through san francisco on the james lick. that cannot happen right now. gerge rask will give us an update and a couple of minutes.

skyway. here is a look at one of the fire crews that is dealing with this incident. this is craig skalar live on the scene. there are a number of emergency vehicles here at ups at the hospital curved and this great dealing with it from the street down below. originally reported as an overturned tanker. the tanker truck could have overturned but it is not the tanker itself that caught fire, it appeared to be the cab of the vehicle. the cab fire appears to have been extinguished. there is a multi car crash that has to be contended with. it will be some time before this reopens. i spoke with california highway patrol. they have told me that there is a plan in place to put a hard closure on traffic through the city including the bay bridge forcing all traffic off at fremont

street, fifth street and ninth street. the chp has a contingency plan in place. if you normally commute on the bay bridge, did not head there. do not take it westbound into san francisco, approach from the south on the san mateo bridge or golden gate bridge.

fire. the fire has been in >>george: there are no trapped inside this vehicle. the initial report says there were six other vehicles involved. jackie sissel is live on the scene right now. what have you observed since you have been there? >>jackie: i am at sixteenth and san bruno below the accident scene. the firefighters are below the freeway sending water up to highway 101 expect major

delays. >>darya: could you see other cars continuing on that would be stopped behind this accident? >>jackie: yes. the fed st. offramp was completely backed up. once i got onto city streets, chp officers were set up at the on ramp to highway 101 blocking those

all of the on ramps are blocked. >>george: use interstate to 80 we are recommending that people take the 280 extension that can be accessed from king's street or straight down six street because of that is the entrance to interstate 280 from san francisco. we could likely be dealing with this for several hours if not the entire morning. this does not look like it will be cleared anytime soon.
