order was given to use tear gas in beanbag bullets on the crowd. the running battle lasted for hours. >>reporter: cops arrested 80 people charging some of them of felony vandalism. five protesters and three officers were injured by the time order was restored. around 4:00 a.m. city workers moved in to board up the building and clean up debris. occupy oakland protesters joined them in scrubbing the graffiti off the buildings. some of the people with brushes and but did say that they were not responsible for the tagging with it will not condemn those who work.

were arrested last night police will now be looking to determine exactly who these violent protesters are in hopes of making arrests. the president of the oakland chamber of commerce has some harsh words for city leaders about this general strike as well as occupy oakland movement overall. he says that three companies have abandoned plans to come to oakland because of the violence. he says the city must take action to stop the suffering. >> we are very disappointed and distressed over the damage that has been done. the intimidation that has prevailed to customers of wealth--wells fargo, and the whole food stores. i'm very disappointed the city did not take a stronger hand. what i am hearing from the business community is that there is great disappointment that they have empower the protesters by letting them do they want to do. they have no restrictions in place and therefore they have gone to do what they want to do and

that has been a major problem for the business community. we had at least three tenets that i know of that are not coming to oakland. they were in the final stages and they said we are pulling out. a 100 employee company a 35,000 sq. ft. tenet, a 15,000 sq. ft. tenant and those are major dollars for building owners who invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in our city. thousands of people come to town to enjoy the restaurants, bars, the art galleries. there are a lot of great things going on in oakland. this one group is creating havoc and needs to change, the camp must close. >>pam: the chamber of commerce president added that in addition to vandalisms several businesses reported that they had missing merchandise. our team coverage continues at the port of oakland. pour leaders say they're fully operational after protesters shut down the port yesterday, big rig to a stop in their tracks when the demonstrators converged on

the port. maureen kelly explains how there were some lingering delays as a handful of protesters tried to keep their action going. >>reporter: there were tense moments as occupy oakland protesters stood in from a person trying to drive on to the port this morning who apparently pushed past the chain-link fence blocking the road with. one of the port entrance is was barricaded in the force truckers to turnaround and is slowdown of dockers preparing for duty. here the longshoremen union president showed up and convince the protesters that they got their point across. since then, there has been a steady stream of truckers bringing in cargo that they cannot drop off the day before and hauling of containers that have been sitting on the docks since wednesday night. the port since there is a little bit

the protesters. you heard this reference before it looks and sounds like a war zone. there were crowds of people ducking, later in the video you start to see heavier police presence. as the camera moves over you can see right over here a couple lines because of police officers in full riot gear with a mask on. peaceful there, but over here the protesters are moving forward. they're moving towards the police and someone is trying to pull him back to make sure does not escalate any further. a lot of the protesters are gesturing and yelling. this video did not show any escalation but however the police remain on one side and the protesters on the other. >>catherine: the occupy movement has been he of nationwide. in tulsa oklahoma more than one dozen protesters were arrested last night. officers told the crowd to leave a downtown park at 11:00 p.m.
