weekend. tensions are high at around the occupy oakland tense city at frank ogawa plaza. police handed out eviction notices last night warning them to clean up and get out. what is the response this morning? craig skalar is live in oakland with the latest. >>craig: it is a mixed bag in how people feel. the question is, what does this mean in the short run? the campsite is quiet. i am told that people are on the guard. we're going to show

you pictures of police handing out eviction notices. this is a 24 hour notice to leave the site. if this city is saying that it can no longer tolerate campers. people are thinking that since police have not come in the early morning they figure they're not going to at this point. they are also thinking that because this is the weekend the kiddie desk-the city cannot afford the overtime period of time there is no specific plan of defense against the police it sounds like it would be ever on for themselves. at this point it is about 20% protesters, 80 percent homeless. the homeless will be more than likely to sleep. that is pretty much how it is right now. it is a pretty quiet at the camp. thing for people went to sleep around 3:00

the gunman is a black male. 20-25 years old. five-to-10 inches with short hair. he was wearing a white t- shirt. the second suspect is described as a black man in his 20s or 30s, 5 ft. 9 in.-5 to 11 in. wearing 211 lbs.. he reportedly had dreadlocks with red tips and a tattoo on the back of his neck. he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. >>ysabel: the reemergence of the occupy movement has other bay area agencies reviewing their agreements to provide support to oakland. they say that since the mayor allow the protesters that it is no longer eighth emergency situation. the alameda county sheriff's office fee is considering charging oakland $1,000 per police officer per day for non- emergency police officers. berkeley police are also reviewing any future assistants. the president of

the police officers association says they cannot blame them. >> the decision was made to remove the camp and then allow the camp to occur. i agree with the statement that it is not an emergency situation if you allowed it to happen. >>ysabel: mayor quan refused to comment. >>ysabel: at berkeley, officers are facing charges of excessive force. police used batons and it covers prey to remote protesters from university grounds. students are now calling for a general strike this coming tuesday. meanwhile, things are comparatively quiet at the occupy san francisco encampment. more tents are showing up every day. nearby businesses continue to complain about increased crime. mayor ed lee says he hopes to open a dialogue with campers to find a peaceful conclusion to the protest. stay with kron4 as

>>ysabel: decision 2012, two national polls show shifting with republicans. herman cain has lost some ground and is in a statistical three-way tie. he is tied with mitt romney and nick gingrich. cbs news has herman cain leading the pack with 18 percent and romney and gingrich with 15 percent each. another poll puts mitt romney in the lead with herman cain down to 17%. another result from the mcclatchy poll shows the field is wide open. on this veterans day weekend, a memorial service for a bay area marines killed in the line of duty, the 31 year- old is from milipitas.

today's memorial service is at noon at the jubilee christian center in san jose. a wet weather in san francisco did not keep people away from the veterans day parade. people from all over the bay area came out to pay tribute to the armed forces. this year's parade was extra special because it marked the 70th anniversary of world war two. it is also the same exact date that world war one ended. for veterans fighting overseas the parade marks the 10th anniversary of the u.s. war in afghanistan. >>ysabel: a special tribute to vietnam veterans, this is a replica on display in cupertino. it was an especially emotional experience for those in is the one whose names were listed on wall. >> it gives me a tremendous feeling deep in my heart about brothers who were

quiet at the moment but things were tense earlier. they gave a 24 hour notice but people were unsure of what that meant. two things that people are saying is, they're figuring that the police did not come early in the morning so they probably will not be coming. people are hoping that things not become like they were on october 25th. >> we figure it will be low- key because they do not have the personnel or the money. of course that means they might the the money into teargas, but i think that oakland is getting a bad reputation, so probably not. i do not think that people are that worried about how they will be treated, they know it is

>>ysabel: amid all of the turmoil of the sex abuse scandal and the firing of joe paterno, penn state has a football game to play today against nebraska. the game will be surrounded by state troopers who are coming in to keep the peace at beaver stadium. donations will be taken for two different of abuse prevention agencies. receivers coach mike mccurry has also been placed on leave. he has come under fire because back in 2002 he says he witnessed jerry sandusky who is now facing charges, raping a young boy in a university shower, but did nothing to intervene. he told the return of the next day but did not report the incident to police. the scandal cost return of the job he has held for 46 years. he was fired on wednesday.
