4:00 am
pajama as good morning it is 4:00 a.m.. and this is video of police stadium at the oakland coliseum overnight. roughly 300 officers with their all gathering inside of the arena where there are likely talking strategy getting a briefing as they get ready to remove the oakland protesters from the frank ogawa plaza. as you can see in this video the protesters are still out there. despite being handed the eviction
4:01 am
notices the protesters say that they're standing their say in no certain terms the you have permission to logged on any public entity or park. protesters rallied in the street overnight. this was shot this about one hour ago on 14th and broadway. this is our developing story this morning. >>justine: we do have will live on the scene to bring us at this information. >>reporter: it looks like they're getting ready for a major battle. you can see them in the middle of the intersection of 14th and broadway. there are banging their drums there is chanting going on it is almost as if they were waiting for them to arrive. and they know that the police officers probably at any moment will leave the coliseum and come down here. a lot of people are avoiding this intersection when they see this. >>justine: will tran is live at the scene we will see if the video can refresh, but
4:02 am
as you were seeing, the protesters seem to be prepared for the police to move in. let us go back to will. >>reporter: is everything back ok? ok sorry about that, a technical difficulty. but you can see them in intersection, it looks like they're waiting for war. they have a chance, they're giving each other peptalks. no one is sleeping they're all standing here with look out and are waiting for the police officers to arrive. from what we understand the police officers might be on their way at this time. people are getting their cameras ready to go because they want to document alleged police brutality. they have pepper spray formulas ready to go. you can see them here, it is peaceful right now by the not know how they got the word that it would happen this morning nonetheless, this is like the calm before the storm. no one was it not
4:03 am
control or violent towards the media. nonetheless, they're waiting for to happen. as soon as it does and as soon as the police officer's role in to hear will bring it to you live as it happens. >>justine: the protesters are not following the eviction notice they seem to be prepared for the police to move in. >>reporter: and they are not going anywhere, i have covered this story for the past month straight, it seems like more people are here. maybe they made some phone calls to some of their friends, we have people all over the country. the number of people here may be two times more to three times more than what we saw two weeks ago. they are empowered. they think would happen on october 25th gave them a rebirth and reenergize that what they're trying to do. they're not going anywhere, there are smiles on their faces, there hugging each other telling each other to be safe but as
4:04 am
far as leaving this area that is far the case. they are waiting for a great battle to take place. you can probably give the banking of the drums and the background so right now is just a matter of waiting for the police officers to arrive. in fact i can see the police officers right now. there it is, right there on franklin, there they are. that is 14th and franklin they are getting ready to mobilize. they're coming in as we speak and it seems like some of the people here at the encampment, occupy oakland just saw what i am seeing right now. it seems like the energy is picking up and like i said, there could be a huge class right on live television so we will have to wait and see. but you can see the one police officer park right in the middle of the roadway which is standard practice. if they follow the same thing they did on october 25th what they want to do is set up a perimeter. no one leaves the perimeter and just in case they want to go to some of
4:05 am
the other communities and possibly do damage. like last time, they will surround this place and then slowly moving in. the best way to describe this is like and anaconda moving in on its prey squeezing in a little closer and a little harder. and then finally when they make contact, they probably will not even go in the encampment because people are already in standing in the middle of the intersection. as far as going in there and removing the tents, that will probably be secondary the first priority is to remove anyone who does not comply with the orders to disperse. there with his face covered with a bandanna or a scarf, the you see any other protesters who look like they are prepared as you said for some sort of battle? are they wearing a mask? the use see any rocks or bottles or anything that looks like they will fight that violently against the police?
4:06 am
>>justine: -- >>reporter: if they have rocks and bottles i continue they will not shlemiel but they are ready, here is another person with a bandanna on their face. they feel like they need the vendetta because they are prepared to possibly get pepper spray. you may or may not believe it, but that is their take and that is why they have on the bandanas. but there are a majority of people out here whose faces are clearly expose they're not worried about being seen on camera they're not worried that if the police are visit and could look at them. for some of the people that have bandannas, they're probably worried for the pepper spray and may be getting caught on camera as well. but looking at one person with a band that on her face right now, she is probably doing that because she saw the police officer because we had a chance to talk with her 10 minutes to 15 minutes ago on camera. >>justine: we just saw
4:07 am
someone with a gas mask and goggles, so it does look like from the pictures that the protesters are prepared for things to really escalate with the police. it does not indicate to me at least that the protesters look like they will follow the eviction notice and just leave peacefully. they look like they're getting prepared for things to give little he did this morning. since the police have arrived, one question really quickly have you noticed the tensions change before we go to break? >>reporter: absolutely, you can see them moving down on 14 of little bit closer to the scene and just so they can meet the police officers at the very least to give them a piece of their mind. but as far as any activity or any potential breakout of violence that is not happening at this time. but yes, they are getting ready in the best way that i can describe this is that they know the battle is coming. they have mobilized for hours and now is the matter of when the rubber meets the road. >>justine: we are watching
4:08 am
video of police officers who have gathered and preparing to move in on the occupy oakland protesters we will be right back.
4:09 am
4:10 am
4:11 am
>>reporter: i am live at frank ogawa plaza. adjutancy people are not going anywhere. the police officers have arrived on the corner of 14th and franklin. there is one police officer park right in the middle of the street. it looks like they have this area circled off and completely enclosed. they are waiting to move in i understand that they have hundreds of police officer at the coliseum. reportedly this whole procedure of this whole operation today will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. but you almost get the sense that this is the final great battle. and everyone is ready to go. you
4:12 am
can see them say hi mom, sorry mom, we will get arrested mom. people are just ready. the people are yelling at the police officers they are angry with them. when they see the police officers they will probably not say enough is enough. seeing the officers it is like giving them energy adding gasoline to the fire. they are ready. they have their masks on and some of them at the very least have some in their pockets. as soon as the officers moved in we could see a huge class. one person, i have to tell you she said they had a general meeting at the encampment. they want to practice non- violence they say if you arrest this will give up peacefully but she also said that before warned there is a group of people out there that they have no control over that could do some damage. she already preemptively said that will not be us. but for weeks,
4:13 am
they have been saying that you need to control the other group, the anarchist group. a lot of people are out here with their camcorders try to take this all in. you almost get a sense of history for them. it is like they are like, on police officers, move in we are ready for you. >>james: we will just have to wait and see, people on both sides want to document everything. i remember when the first raid took place about 445 a m. this scene is pretty different back on october 25th most of the protesters were confined inside of the plaza and the police were able to circle the plaza and put their barricade and methodically work their way into the park this morning it looks as though the protesters have taken control of the streets around the plaza and it look larger. >>reporter: much larger, maybe two times to three times larger than what we saw on october 25th. i had a
4:14 am
chance to walk toward city hall no one is asleep very few people are standing near the tens. as you can see, they are looking towards you in this direction of the camera because they see the first police officer right there and look over the past five or six minutes, you can see the police officer park in the middle of the intersection and then some officers are already out what their riot gear on. that is probably their job but to make sure that whoever scatters from this area does not leave and go to a different location. again, the best way i can describe this is as if it was an anaconda wrapping itself around the pray making sure that they moves lower and closer and then the moment of contact, that is when everything breaks out. for now, they are here, you can clearly see them but they have not moved any. i must say this is almost
4:15 am
adding to the frenzy because everyone is looking down in that direction. they are not afraid at all and that is the scary part because they are not afraid of what might go down. >>james: we saw the police down the street on 47 franklin on the 25th we also saw police vans that were ready to cart away people that were arrested we saw a truck with barricades loaded on the back that will be used to help control the crowd. the use see any of the other resources or the just the officers at the end of the street that you have noticed. >>reporter: i just see the officers at the end of the street on 14th and franklin i do not see the other officers. but i can tell you when they move then it will be very swift. i do hear some sirens in the background i do not know if it is an ambulance independent of this and has nothing to do with this situation. let look now, all of a sudden the chanting has stopped, i will give you a look at the moment of
4:16 am
silence, you can notice it got silence like playtime is over we are ready for a battle they have stopped chanting. some cars over there i do not know why they're trying to come down here but they are they just made a u-turn and i cannot believe that is a police car just someone that thought maybe they could drive through the intersection but that is not going to happen. they quickly many you turn to avoid any confrontation. i do not see any officers moving in at this time the laughing and joking and chanting has stopped. we will try to move a little bit closer. it seems like they're having a meeting right in the middle of the intersection. >>james: i want to interrupt you a second because i want the viewers at home to know this was shot earlier at the oracle arena. we had a quick visual count and he said he saw about 300 officers from multiple agencies. so, we have a mutual aid situation where we have agencies from all
4:17 am
around the area taking part in this. i would assume i that that we can expect a lot more police at this time than we did back on october 25th. >>reporter: absolutely, last time they maybe have 100 officers or to lower deck officers. according to dalian that was on the scene he counted about 200 officers and we have many more than what we saw back on october 25th. you get the sense that both sides want this to in one way or another because this time they are released ponying up the resources as well as the protesters. we do not see as many as half the people we saw last time we see even more here. we had a chance to talk of a protester and she said she hopes is nonviolent they had a meeting last night is that true? >> yes we did have a meeting last night
4:18 am
confirmed our resolve to remain peaceful. the enemies are war, agreed in capitalism and not necessarily the police also the police can certainly hurt us. >>reporter: the you have any fear now you see the police officers mobilizing? >> i do have some fear because i was arrested after the general assembly and i was surprised at the amount of brutality that the police officers showed me. i was a peaceful and nonviolent protesters. >>james: we are going to take a quick break, increase--we will be back with more new stay with us.
4:19 am
4:20 am
>>justine: this is video and to the news room showing us the protesters are prepared now for a possible police raid. we have an update on
4:21 am
bart before we get to the next live report on the scene. the 12th street bart station in oakland will open as scheduled but according to bart officials, the entrances at 14th street and broadway will remain closed because of the police activity at frank ogawa plaza. again, that is the 14th street and broadway entrances and exits that was they closed this morning. >>james: and jeff bush is that that very location he is showing us the latest on the ground. jeff, describe what you see. >>reporter: the morning this is a very lively scene at 40 and broadway. people are blocking the intersection, and just to the south a few --just to the south of here i see a few police officers have blocked off broadway. there is one car on 12th street right now. a lot of people are rallying right
4:22 am
now and getting all fired up. >>james: at the uc at the bart instance, if you can see are there bart police officers standing guard to keep people from going down? >>reporter: it does not look like that is the case, no, there are not any bart police officers keeping people from going down here. i am standing at the park entrance on broadway on the east side of broadway. this is near 14th street. right now, as i'm walking over here the gates are still closed so i'm not really quite sure, i am not sure what time those are scheduled to open. >>james: you were all part of the coverage back on the 25th, what you see today the different from what we experience back on the 25th a few weeks ago? >>reporter: i think what is
4:23 am
different now is the protesters here are prepared for it. it is certainly no secret about what is going to happen. it is no secret about the city's point of view about them staying here. i think it is anyone's guess on how quickly or rather not quickly this will take. but we will be standing by on scene and get you the latest as it comes out. >>james: we have jeff bush standing by he is at 14th and broadway and we have another reporter right outside of frank ogawa plaza. we will visit with both of them shortly. hey, your high speed internet here, at home...

4:26 am
standing by with the latest from the scene. good morning. >>reporter: the morning james i and at 16th and san pablo which is the north side of the frank ogawa plaza. it is very quiet out here where i'm at, san paolo is blocked off about a block and a half from where i met. so far we have not seen the huge police presence show up but i can say that there are a lot of protesters out and about. people are already at the frank ogawa plaza. people are riding bikes and going up and down the streets coming in and out of the plaza. as i said, so far we have not seen any of that the police presence. i was here on the 25th when they initially cleared out a plaza. that morning there was hundreds of police officers that set up a perimeter around frank ogawa plaza. now as i am talking i start to see ambulances moving down san paulo
4:27 am
towards the plaza right now. it looks like at least two, maybe four of them are rolling down setting up on san paulo just about a 16th street or so. right now we have not seen a big police presence on the ground here. >>james: we have less than one minute before we have to take another break in what is the mood of the crowd? >>reporter: anxious. i think people know that something is about to happen. for the most part, the protesters are walking in and out of the plaza setting up on the perimeter you see a lot of people on bicycles asking us questions like what is going to happen, and when is it going to happen and how many cops are there? we do not have the answers but they are fully anticipating that the police will move in at any time now. >>justine: just a quick update for everyone, we're hearing that the 12th street bart station is closed this
4:28 am
morning. you may want to prepare for an alternate route. there is an intense amount of police activity that is about to happen in the occupy oakland encampment. stay with us, we will be back with more.
4:29 am
4:30 am
and >>james: we are back at 4:30 a.m. are breaking news continues to be the situation in oakland were police at any moment are expected to raid the occupy oakland in kama. >>justine: protesters are waiting in the streets and ready for the raid. we turn our attention to will tran he is on the scene to bring us the very latest. we're looking at a police car on the scene have any other officers move in? >>reporter: yes, that is one side i have seen it on two sides now. that is 14 and franklin you can see the officer standing outside right now, i do not expect them to move and those are probably the people that will contain the perimeter. about 10 minutes ago we saw officers north of this
4:31 am
section at 14th and broadway, we will try to move the camera, no, they are gone. but with stock officers at 14th and they have moved on a little bit. as far as this place is concerned, people are yelling at the media, the frenzy is on, the chanting has stopped for now. and then you can see them moving towards clay so maybe they're trying to meet the police officers. i see a swap of man on the other intersection as well. instead of running from the police officers it looks like they're moving towards them. i talked with a tactical expert and he says normally what they will do is the police officers will come in with bullhorns and give an order to disperse before they do anything. they tell people you need to break up and dispersed. if they do not that is when they will move in and possibly make arrests. for now, it seems like it is
4:32 am
peaceful and they're just waiting for a battle to happen. as you can see, here is another side, the officer does--this is on 12 and broadway as well. there are getting ready for more units to arrive. those cars are not going anywhere they want to make sure that they have this under siege so to speak, no one comes in and no one goes out. you know it is a matter of time and when that happens will bring this to you live. >>justine: earlier protesters were out there playing music in beating on drums, it seemed like they were anticipating the police moving in in a more joyful spirit have you noticed things to start tens upper--have you noticed thing starting to tense up we have seen a lot of the protesters with gas masks or their face as if they're ready for some sort of violence to break out this morning. >>reporter: absolutely,
4:33 am
they're not afraid you are getting the sense that there are growing impatient because they have been waiting for this for hours. now that the police officers are here and they can clearly see them there are no longer in the middle of the intersection. it looks like some people are trying to guide other people to get out of the intersection, there are moving towards the in kama area. i know jackie is a little closer in that direction, but as far as the intersection is concerned this is as clear as i have seen it all morning. they are just waiting there is no were chanting or a pep rally. >>justine: i do not know if you can still hear us, we have lost your live shot but we see some 300 police officers from all different agencies gathered at the arena. will, i do not know if you can still hear us but since these people are
4:34 am
waiting and they seem to know after getting their third eviction notice in three days that the police plan on moving in this morning have any of the protesters left since you got there this morning? have the numbers grown or gone down at all? >>reporter: it is still pretty much the same no one is leaving, it looks like they're still moving in that direction towards clay. as far as the numbers, i will be surprised if they left because they stayed up over night waiting for this to happen. if anything they are probably getting on the phone in the north without you. fall coming down here could be quite difficult because the police officers they follow the same procedure as they did back on october 25th, no one enters and no one leaves. it is quiet. you get the sense that they're just waiting for the gates to open and the two sides will start clashing so to speak but right now no one is leaving they're getting angry, it seems like some of them are getting more angry by the
4:35 am
minute like saying bring it on, we are ready let's do it. >>justine: have they given you any indication of why they are not leaving? >>reporter: they are not leaving because they are serious about their movement. they say that it is legal to carry out in front of city hall. and a lot of people here they are not even from oakland. they say they are with occupy wall street but they come from minneapolis and maine, and you would think that washington was closer than here, but this has been a big scene for them. it looks like they're moving towards the in camera. on october 25th a lot people were standing next to their tents as the police officers moved in. this time a lot of them are dispersed throughout the area. if you are just too many in do not let this fool you, we saw hundreds of
4:36 am
people right in the middle of the intersection at 14th and broadway but for what ever reason over the last 10 to 15 minutes and they have decided to move back to their encampment, who knows, maybe they are saying enough is enough. maybe as i am talking they're lifting up their tents and getting ready i highly doubt it, but as far as the volume of people in the middle of the intersection is gone. as far as the numbers, they are still here and they have this sense of like bring it, we have been waiting for hours for the police officers to arrive and they are here. the police officers are choking off the area for anyone coming in and anyone going out. >>james: thank you for that update will take quick break and as we go just a reminder that the 12th street bart station located at frank ogawa plaza is shut down and will remain closed during the morning this is all due to the police activity and the expected rate that we are watching and waiting for. occupy cal test

and >>james: will tran is out there at the 12th street bart station, what is the latest at you see? >>reporter: we are still here i do not see any police officers in riot gear. as far as the crowd, look this over the past minute or so, they are back in the intersection yelling "whose street? our street!"
4:40 am
>>james: we had a little kick up with the video, but we will get you connected in again, now we had multiple agency police that we saw at the arena. and this morning we expect them to raid the protest. this is a video from earlier this morning showing protesters industry. when will have continued coverage coming up in just a moment.
4:41 am
4:42 am
>>justine: good morning we are back with a breaking news coverage from the opera about the movement but we also want to let you know what is happening in our whether the morning erica. >>erica: good morning justin, and take a look at our temperatures. it looks
4:43 am
like downtown san francisco is coming in at 52 degrees. as we advance toward a seven day around the forecast we will concede touse--continue to see temperatures in the sixties and fifties. as for traffic this morning we do not have any hot spots to tell you about. i will show you a couple of the cameras, the bay bridge toll plaza is moving well. no problems to deal with and the metering lights currently not activated. the golden gate bridge ride is nice and easy south bound 101, no problems or delays in any direction. as we take it over to the traffic maps, north bound 101 looks good. interstate 280 is currently moving problem free as well. >>justine: thank you so much erica.
4:44 am
>>james: just to give you an idea the protesters have been warned on two separate occasions to leave the area it says on no uncertain terms you have the permission to be in this park if you fail to move overnight, you will be forced to move. >>justine: the protesters are waiting on the scene, we have dah lin on the phone who shot this new video showing the protesters marching around in the street and morning. >>reporter: good morning, they were marching earlier and getting ready for the situation down here tonight. police, oakland police announce the eviction notices three times. the first time on friday, the second time on saturday and
4:45 am
finally on sunday morning. basically, the police officers are trying to give a lot of opportunities for the protesters to leave. on sunday actually providing shuttle buses for the homeless protesters to offer them rides to nearby shelters so that again to give them another opportunity to leave this area. the city has been trying pretty hard to keep protesters to voluntarily leave the area. right now, i can tell you that there is a big group of protesters i would say approximately 200 protesters are at the corner of 14th and broadway. they are gathering here waiting to see what the next move is. there are news choppers above us, there are police officers are around us basically blocking a lot of the action at this point. i understand the police
4:46 am
officers are coming from the oakland are read as we speak right now. i was over at the oakland are really getting some footage of the officers staging over at the arena. that gives you an idea of how big this operation is. there were so many police officers they had to dip into the arena to fit all of them and stayed to them brave enough to decide what to do and how to handle the protesters. i saw literally hundreds of cop cars and a lot more police officers in that area. right now, this is the calm before the storm. i would assume that people are thinking they want to end this peacefully. but given the situation and how tense things happen here, you know, we just do not know what is going to happen. right now it is definitely pretty calm. we do not know
4:47 am
how things will end. >>james: all are right, thank you for the update will visit with him through out the morning of the expected rate on frank ogawa plaza. >>justine: we have already seen several police officers around the protesters that waiting in the street, will have things changed this morning? >>reporter: may be for five minutes it was really weird when the protesters is standing in the street and looking at the police officers. this is this very similar to what happened back on the 25th. we are 45 minutes into the first time i saw a police officer to
4:48 am
arrive here. they have not moved in. we will move our cameras. that is probably close and broadway. you can see a police officer who has been parked there for about 20, to 25 minutes. this is 14th and franklin that officer has been here since 4:05 a.m. is. maybe they're hoping their presence will get people to this person that is not happening. some people have told me that they have seen police officers face to face on the other side of the in camera. one person said he saw hithe officer raise a tear-gas canister but did not use it. so if the police officers are trying to be here hoping that the people will just dispersed it is doing the opposite because this is gone on for about 45 minutes or so. you get the sense that thelather- - lather s
4:49 am
starting to build up. every since 5:00 a.m. they have been pretty much park in the intersection. sometimes more people, sometimes fewer people nonetheless, they have taken it over. you can hear them chanting this almost gives the sense of a pep rally. if there is fear, they are not showing it. >>james: is the park packed with people? >>reporter: last time allow the people were there when the police officers moved in and physically took down the tents to themselves, but this time i don't think anyone is sleeping. i did get a chance to walk in a little bit earlier, the tents are still there, it is almost as if nothing has
4:50 am
changed but instead of the people sleeping and sitting next to their tents they are here in the middle of the intersection waiting for this class to take place. there are people all race and age here as well. they say they're trying to stand up for what they believe. they have tried to preach to one another to try and the nonviolent if this happens, trying give yourself up peacefully but also at the police officers know what you are about. some of them did say that there are groups out here that they cannot control and they will try their best to do any damage control is an anarchist group breaks out. so far, nothing has happened simply because the police officers have not moved in yet even though they have surrounded this area. >>justine: i asked you the question earlier we were seeing protesters there wearing bandannas and a guy had a mask over his face had you seen any other
4:51 am
indications that they are preparing for some sort of violence or are those just precautionary moves in case the police lash out first? i know you have said before they probably will not show you what are you seeing any type of gathering of what will be considered a weapon? >>reporter: i do not see any weapons, but some people have bandannas, some have them around their neck, others have a mask on, obviously it is not for protection it probably gives them a sense of power if they want to do something to the police officers so their faces not clearly recognizable to the police officers. but i do see some people walking around with their bandannas on as we speak. they'rthey have their own mix. one guy said he has a formula made up of milk of magnesia. if someone has spree dassn't sprays it in their face, he says the
4:52 am
mixture will take away the stinging. now the majority of the people in the crowd had their faces clearly visible. i do not see any weapons, i am not saying that they don't have any and i'm not saying that they do have any but we will have to take this as a worst-case scenario. because as we know that when the police move in they will be wearing riot gear. >>james: thank you very much. now the protesters have been trying to police themselves and we will see what happens in the developing situation. >>justine: on october 25th the things got violent and then there with all that graffiti in the next day they said those people did not represent the occupy oakland movement we have more on this story. >>james: we will be back with more in a minute, share your photos or story on our facebook page.
4:53 am
4:54 am
>>justine: good morning we
4:55 am
are on top of breaking news as protesters from occupy oakland are ready for a police raid. they have been given their 30 eviction notice in three days and are not prepared for the police to move in and take down their encampment once again. >>james: will tran is standing by live he had spotted the police already beginning to emerge in on the area, well, what is the latest? >>reporter: here we go james, we see police officers, a wall of them in their riot gear. instead of just giving up a lot of the protesters are walking towards the police officers waiting for this to happen. every now and then you may see a bright light on the ground, that is the police officers circling us, trying to record all the activity taken place. they got your around 4:00 a.m. and now, it is close to five a m, it looks like it is about to
4:56 am
happen. you can see the police officer starting to work towards us. any moment, something is about to happen. they have on their bandannas the people say they're using that to protect themselves because they are bracing for the inevitable. the police officers will used teargas after telling the crowd to disperse. they will probably come in with their bullhorns as saying that you have to disperse you are having an unlawful assembly. no one is going to listen to them, let me tell you that right now. unlike back on october 25th when they sat back and waited for the officers to move in, this time you can see a guy hopping on his bicycle they are moving towards the police officers for a big clash. you get the sense that this is the one big final battle as far as occupy oakland is concerned. no one is afraid, the police officers of multiple agencies are here. it will cost up to $1 million for this operation alone before it all said and done. but they're just
4:57 am
waiting they have been waiting for hours all night, chanting and a feeling of a pep rally. now right now there is no were chanting or drums or anything, it is very quiet. >>justine: we are watching live pictures and i newsroom right now, both from frank ogawa plaza on left hand side we see the police in full riot gear. it is almost deja vu all over again, we were here on october 25th watching the police swarmed in on the protesters preparing to take down the camp. >>james: up we have dalian, and jackie says so and many more out there covering this story will be back with the latest coming up in just a couple of minutes.

frank ogawa plaza. >>mark: jackie sissel is live on the scene. >>jackie: i am at 14th street and clay. the units are mobilizing as we seek if we are about one block away from the claws of your close to 100 officers have shown up. they have on their right gear, they have on shields, helmets and batons. this is the second wave of officers that i have seen orleans. there are starting to walk down 14th street. they are opposite of find overall loss of. as i said, this is the second wave theory that this plan they are still outside of the flaws of, if frank ogawa plaza is actually right over there. you can see officers making their way down 14 towards
5:01 am
frank ogawa plaza. several hundred of them are in right here. as i said, frank ogawa plaza on 14th street, now, they are marching down the middle of 14 in headed for the flaws that itself. obviously this is about ready to happen. it looks like we are minutes away from officers entering the plaza. >>darya: what else do you see as far as the mobilization goes. the point of this is to get protesters out of the flaws of
5:02 am
peacefully. have they already brought in a large buses to look those demonstrators on to the buses? >>jackie: yes. there are a lot of police vehicles. if i can over here a little bit, even see that there are pluses. those are from santa clara county of leeds. they are set up right outside of the plaza. the plaza is on the other side of this parking garage. there are multiple entrances to the clouds up. the buses are set up outside of the plaza. you can see the officer's immobilizing, some of them down on 14th, some of them on the outside of 14th street. there are slowly making their way in. you can see that they are setting up tables, this is where they take the protesters to process them. they are already set up the process protesters. i am going to
5:03 am
move over a little bits of you can get a better view down 14th street and to where the plaza is. you will get a better sense of what it looks like. the officers are setting up in the middle of 14th street basically right across from the plaza itself. they have set up a larger perimeter, much larger than last time. it seems like there are several blocks out, they are on the move now. basically i am looking down 14th street towards broadway. broadway would be just on the other side of the officers that we see mobilizing in front of frank ogawa plaza. there are standing between clay and the broadway, right in front of the plaza. they have set up a perimeter on 14th street. you can see that there are huge numbers of officers. an overwhelming show of force. that is the
5:04 am
idea right now, to make it obviously is of these protesters can peacefully get up and see that they are outnumbered and walk away. sforza >>mark: will trend is positioned at 14th and broadway on the other side of those officers keeping and i am a situation there a fear if he was telling us earlier that he was able to look down 14th towards broadway towards franklin. >>darya: james, can you hear us? >>will: the officers are standing at 14th in the broadway. a wall officers moved in maybe 15 seconds ago. the protesters were south of this section. when they got word that officers were moving this direction, towards the broadway comedies of 14, that is when they ran back in this direction. now, they are
5:05 am
face to face with police officers. the police officers are not engaging at this time. there are standing there, looking at protesters, probably hoping that their presence alone will cause them to leave. that is not the case. you get the sense that the fervor has really picked up now the ec the officers here. you saw them sprinting back to this location which is ground zero. that is what they want to happen. they have been here for week waiting for police officers to arrive. they are not afraid. they are waiting for this. the officers are here with it right gear. hundreds of them at this location along. unlike last time, they did not quickly moved into the encampment. on october 25th, they moved
5:06 am
right into the encampment and started taking down the tents. this time, they are not. so far, the crowd has not touched any police officers. they are moving forward as one unit. fixed protesters are waiting for something that happened. this is a homemade ambulance. so far i do not see any weapons. i do not see anyone doing anything dangerous. this situation is ready to explode. protesters have been waiting for this for days.
5:07 am
>>darya: how close are you able to get to the line? i just saw them take one step. they are inching closer and closer. how close are you able to get? >>will: there is a lot of media around here. >>darya: they're closing in by flick, they're squeezing them and until they have nowhere to go. >>will: absolutely. inch by inch. if you are a protester, this is what you're looking at. there are not afraid reify are talking to officers. they have plastic handcuffs fog, they have on their helmets and
5:08 am
batons. officers are not even talking to one another or the protesters. the protesters are standing stoically >>mark: our coverage connect with us on facebook. send us botas and videos. we will be right back free o. half half dov ...

>>darya: welcome back. we are seeing police in full riot gear. police are closing in on the occupy protesters that have been there for weeks, defying orders to stop camping overnight. >>mark: and jeff bush is standing by live at the
5:12 am
epicenter of this conflict. >>jackie: jeff >> police officers are across the broadway and 14th. on the west and the south. they are not doing anything. obviously there are some sort of plants in the work. there are more senior police officers talking behind presumably coming up with werfel and the right now is a standoff. there are a group of protesters here at the intersection of 14th and broadway. police right now are just holding their ground, holding the line. presumably we will see some sort of action as soon. the plaza is now an accessible.
5:13 am
oakland to campers are still in the plaza. it is unclear on if they will be told to leave. right now the police are disestablishing their perimeter if >>darya: it looks like the protesters are not being forced into a smaller area yet? if >>darya: we have four different crews on the scene at different vantage points. we can tell that the protesters are being surrounded but they are not pushing them into far. >>mark: yet is the operative word. we're back to more live coverage in just a moment. thoughtful pfft

>>mark: leaves are on the scene and from cobalt father. jackie sissel is live on the scene with the latest. are you still at 14th and clay? >>jackie: yes. i am looking directly south off, looking down 14th street. that is the direction of broadway. there are officers lining 14th street. they have set up a perimeter on 14th street. that is broadway down there. frank ogawa plaza is directly to the left calf to the vehicles that you are seeing. we have seen several hundred officers go into the plaza area. they have set up a perimeter. you can see some of the staging area over here. many of them are wearing right gear. there is
5:18 am
a what appears to be in oakland helicopter with a spotlight. it is lighting up the entire plaza for those officers to go inside. they marched down 14th street about 10-14 minutes ago in huge numbers. very similar to what we saw on the 25th when they originally rated frank ogawa plaza. that is frank ogawa plaza at just to the left. you can see them setting up shop right there, right now. they are also setting up on all four sides of the flaws of. we have not heard any commotion or seen any arrests. for after protesters are arrested they will be a process where i am at right now. i can tell you, there are people on the outskirts. they have set up
5:19 am
a perimeter around the entire area and it they are telling everyone who is not media or police to get out of the area. >>darya: the interesting thing is, this city has ordered the eviction notice but they did not tell any businesses, to our knowledge, shutdown on monday. here we are getting closer to business hours. this could last for hours. this is just the beginning. they have been staging and slowly moving in. >>mark: our continuing coverage will continue in a

>>darya: our breaking news coverage continuing, the police have moved into frank ogawa plaza to force occupy oakland protesters to move out if at this point, this is how far they have gotten. they have set up a perimeter. there are no widespread arrests at this point. for >>mark: will, what are the police is doing? >>will: the police officers might as well be statues. it
5:24 am
seems like police officers are surrounding the area. one protester said it at an officer and the officer did not even flinch. there is no one in the encampment. everyone is in the middle of the intersection waiting for something to happen. >>darya: what are the police waiting for. for if they are all mobilize, if they have buses are ready to take protesters away, processing tables are set up, what are they waiting for? >>will: it seems like they're hoping that their presence alone will cause
5:25 am
the inf, the protesters to move. this is a big contrast to what we saw on october 25th when officers moved in quickly. fog this time protesters--this time officers are taking the time. we have a retired police officer from the oakland police department acting as our security guard and hopefully we will stay safe but he says it looks like they are probably waiting for more units to arrive. there are still mobilizing. even though we see hundreds of police officers this is a sliver of what we will see before the day is over. there probably waiting for more officers to get into place before they move in and make arrests. he says he believes the officers are here to
5:26 am
basically make sure that protesters are in the middle of the intersections of that they can have a clear view of what is going on in front of them. some of the protesters are frustrated. the right gear covers name and bad numbers--badge numbers. the protesters believe that police brutality will occur. fan so far, the officers have kept their cool and so have the protesters. >>will: the protesters behind you in the intersection, we want to bring in george, all of this is obviously causing traffic problems for downtown oakland and bart. this 12th street stations to a shutdown? >>george: yes. there are no trains stopping at 12th street. that was at the request of the oakland
5:27 am
police department. you may recall that a few weeks ago they closed the stairway but left the station open. this morning the station is completely closed. according to bart no trains will be stopping there. the areas at 14th and broadway are completely shut down for. the area bordered by frank ogawa plaza, i remember there is jefferson streets, san pablo ave, telegraph avenue, the area between 20th and 14th and 20th at 13, with the way the police are staging, it seems to be the smart thing to do is to avoid that eight block radius. >>darya: we're back with more in a couple minutes, the live coverage of the occupy a protester evictions. saw thick fog for

whether you are a protester or journalist you are trapped. there are now in and out of for villages, even for reporters. they're trying to contain every one and one of the cystic-- specific area. so far the police officers are very kampf as well as protesters. they are basically behaving at this point as well. >>darya: we're looking at video that he shot earlier on the right-hand side, does it seem like this is a standoff at this point? there is really no where for protesters to go. are the police pushing them away or out? in what situation would
5:32 am
they be arrested? >>da: i am not sure. the tactic from the fleece officers is to be feasible. they do not want to cite the protesters were causing problems. so far things have been handled peacefully and delicately. fifth >>darya: off the question is how long is this going to drag out? jackie sissel is at 14th and clay. jackie,
5:33 am
you have seen the buses and the tables where they are ready to process these people and for them on buses to take them away. >>jackie: yes. i have already seen two arrests. i am in frank ogawa plaza right now. i am about 6 ft. away from the police line. they have set off a large from matter. there are lining the outside of frank ogawa plaza. their 25-30 ft. away. they have not entered the plaza yet. there has been a constant loudspeaker announcement telling people that they have to leave frank ogawa plaza if they do not leave their subject to arrest. there is a large oakland helicopter flying overhead there is an
5:34 am
announcement saying if you do not get out of the plaza you are subject to arrest. there's almost no movement at all. >>mark: you are saying that
5:35 am
you hear an announcement coming down from a helicopter? >>darya: we just lost him. let's go back to will trans.
5:36 am
>>will: protesters want to see something have this. maybe they just want to be peacefully arrested. his nose off some of the people around here are growing impatient. you can see them in the middle of the intersection veining there but it's, garbage cans and what ever. for a lot of people, it almost seems like it is a fun but police officers have on a straight face. fog so far there have said no arrests were
5:37 am
confrontations. you get the sense that it is just a matter of time. >>darya: the media cannot even get in and out. when they give the order to move out, where are days of falls to move to? >>mark: justine waldman is following this from another angle. >>justine: there is a camera embedded inside of the protesters. this is coming from and protester inside of occupy oakland. he streaming video to. this is next to where the police are lined up, this is showing us what protesters are doing inside. sphere right now there are repositioning the camera. you can see the bart station and police in full riot gear. the other thing

probably in short order. >>darya: we have several cruise positioned on and around frank ogawa plaza. will tran and has been watching police as they slowly stepped airline in. they have put up barricades and protesters seem unaffected. >>will: protesters are still chanting in having a good time. it has become almost like a fun party for protesters. a couple of minutes ago i saw hundreds of police officers moved towards the barricades to assist colleagues to create more of a wall. the fact that the barricades are up at this time, that tells me that there is no longer a threat or not a lot of
5:54 am
people in the encampment at this time. by moving toward the intersection to 14 and broadway, in essence protesters have given up the encampment or officers never would have put up the barricades, standing and facing them. the officers over here have been standing there like statues for the past hour or so. they have not moved in. there are people on the streets basically telling at them and taunting them. i saw one or residence it added officer: although the officer did not even flinch. as we move the camera towards 14th and franklin, you can see officers there. from what i understand, when they finally moved in and to disperse the crowd there will probably give a warning or else face being arrested.
5:55 am
>>will: will live in the media age. everyone has an iphone. they are taking pictures, they are moving near officer's trying to get a name or badge number.
5:56 am
>>will: they will have to be heard over the chanting and drumming. if we raise the camera, this will be a little bit jarring, the you can see the officer's behind this wall of officers. it
5:57 am
looks like they will probably move in as well. >>darya: just bush is on the phone. he called in to say that he did actually see office is moving in. >>jeff: >>jackie: this is jackie, are you talking to me? >>darya: we spoke with jeff, he said that police are starting to move in, are you seeing anything? >>jackie: >>guest: officers are starting to move in. they went into what is set up as a library. they are starting to move up the stairs into the camping area right now. i do not see any activity inside of the encampment. it
5:58 am
looks as though they have heeded the warning saying that if you do not leave the encampment you will be arrested. right now they are sitting outside of the camp area, it looks like they are getting very close from them actually going inside. >>darya: did you see them inside taking down tents? i think we lost him. we do know that they are on the move. we're back with more in a couple of minutes.
