the least action that is happening right now at frank ogawa plaza as occupy oakland protesters are up early this morning and out of town and city. we have gotten a firsthand account that the police are starting to take down tents and protesters have been forced into an outer perimeter and that police had encircled them and are putting barricades' cut to further make a wider radius. it looks like they're trying to fend. the tent city and take that down while the protesters are in the streets surrounding the area. >>mark: this has been three days coming. the oakland police department in the city of oakland have been handing out notices asking people to leave it to the
6:02 am
area. by some estimates there are about 300 police surrounding frank ogawa plaza. will tran has been standing by at 14th and broadway. that is the image the ec on the right. you can call that the epicenter, if you will. that is where a majority of protesters have assembled and that is received police in riot gear. traffic in the area is blocked. we also have jackie sissel cystnear the tent area as well as will transit and da lin. we have heard that it was evident that this rate would take place the that was several minutes ago. we still have not seen too much in the way of police moving in these live shots. >>darya: will tran is inside the police line, among the protesters. >>will: about five minutes ago we saw dozens of protesters sprinting to the intersection of 14th and broadway, iran over there
6:03 am
trying to see, apparently because some police officers, maybe a few dozen starters to mobilize in that direction, probably to reinforce colleagues, that started a frenzy. if we saw protesters one after another follow one another over there but the police officers have not moved beyond the barricade. there are standing at the intersection of 14th and bright lights. they have in essence given of the encampment, the very thing they fought to hold onto. as far as i can tell the officers are standing right around the tents that they're not moving in. crude-chested probably do not think it is necessary because no one is inside at this time. you can hear a lot of chanting going on. we
6:04 am
are waiting for an explosion to take place. officers have been here for two hours south. costs officers have not made any arrests. there are standing here perhaps hoping that their presence will cause the crash to disperse. it is doing the opposite. if anything it is making them more angry and louder. they have been waiting for this for days. definitely over night. it's not that it is here today are saying, come on! >>mark: here are light fixtures from the stream. this is a protester transmitting from their cell phones. this is a live image. >>justine: i have seen several peaceful arrests
6:05 am
already so far. this video is coming to us from someone, that are walking away peacefully. we have seen at least 10 people being arrested here at occupy oakland. we are keeping our eyes on these live pictures. we are not in control of these pictures. this is someone inside of the and have met with a laptop or cellphone to join us on the front lines. the are watching the arrests have been live on the air, people being escorted over to the booking station where a believe jackie sissel has his camera set up. he might be able to provide us some perspective of what is happening. >>darya: we are seeing a number of peaceful arrest. as we look from our studio
6:06 am
in our newsroom at the various live shots that are available, we do see police at the very inside of the intensity, there are next to campers. i do see more people being handcuffed. its there are definitely inside the camping area and there definitely are arresting people who are inside of the camping area. the live shot the ec on the outside of the plaza, those protesters have been allowed to stand in a rally without being arrested. >>mark: da lin is live on the ground near the intended. >>da: i am standing on the front steps of city hall near the campus theaters. right now police are set to move in, to live a couple of protesters. they are sitting down peacefully. their backs are facing in the police. i
6:07 am
am looking at maybe 50 police officers right here. there are waiting for orders to go in and and low these peaceful protesters. fifth it looks like it will just carry them out. i interviewed some other people sitting near the and the theater, they said they are just waiting for officers to arrest them. they say that they're just making it clear that this is a peaceful protest they're saying that police officers are kron4 living in furious right now we are waiting in front of city hall, waiting officers toured of these people. james, the one thing that is very interesting to me, there is so much tension around here. i saw a protester insider frank

6:16 am
>>james: breaking news out of oakland, police have begun to raid the occupy protests encampment at frank ogawa plaza. you are looking at live pictures of police who have set up barricades and created a wall of riot shields. >>darya: it seems like the police are moving from the inside out. they are inside the tent area. they are one by one systematically moving out certain protesters with handcuffs. it has been peaceful. said it is happening without much fanfare. will tran is live
6:17 am
on the scene. we have a number of seats filled strategically placed around the plaza this morning. well, have you seen any protesters handcuffed? >>caller: i have not, but arrests have taken place. some protesters are being kicked out as we speak. the officers are moving through right now. they're telling people who stayed behind, you have to leave. that is the first time in about two hours 15 minutes that i have seen officer's go through the encampment. they moved from the encampment to the middle of the intersection so it seems that protesters have given up the encampment. those who remain are being arrested. the officers at this barricade, it is a basically a staring contest. they have been here for about an hour 15
6:18 am
minutes. i have seen some protesters set and police officers. you're looking down the barricades. i do not see any officer's engaging. as far as this location is concerned, there have been arrests. even some of the people in the crowd started to cheer. >>darya: i think it is happening and it is happening inside the plaza. the other a lot of shots and we are monitoring show police taking down the tents and one by one and they are not being met with resistance. >>james: it is a completely
6:19 am
different tactic the last time. police have decided to go into the park strategically >>darya: it almost seems to be diffusing the situation. we have not seen any clashes. and they are allowing them to protests in the streets that they are not letting them into the plaza. >>james: almost done by design to separate the protesters from the encampment. that line of police is separating protesters at the intersection of 14th and
6:20 am
broadway from the camp which is behind the officers trieste's we are also falling as on facebook. justine waldman has been monitoring the comments. >>justine: we wanted to know when you thought of the protests ended the arrest. this is a sentiment this morning the people are fed up with what is happening. some people are saying that they are ready for this to be over. this is from genet. scientists testing >> this is from shannon. >>justine: this is what alison has to say. go on to

6:24 am
>>darya: and our breaking news story continues to be the occupy oakland a movement which is being broken up from the inside where frank ogawa plaza was turned into a tense city. right now you're looking at a live shot from use trained. thousands of people are watching this unfold. this protester is inside with a camera and showing us, we have seen more than one dozen people peacefully arrested. the jackie sissel is inside frank ogawa plaza. jackie, as we show this you
6:25 am
streaming video, all we have seen the tents come down. is that what you are seeing? >>jackie: that is exactly what is going on. about two dozen police officers moved in from the south side of frank ogawa plaza, it happened very systematically. the camera on the left is going to go to the camera that is on 14th in clay. you can see police officers ripping down the tents, one by one. this is just now happening as we speak. i just shot this video about two minutes ago. there were probably two dozen police officers in riot gear that moved into the plaza. they started tearing down tents as they went along. officers wanted
6:26 am
to make sure that no one was inside the tents. that is that they did. many of the tents have been removed already. you can see now that they're going through there. we waited for about two hours thinking that it was gone to happen and finally they moved in. >>jackie: for the most part it appeared that protesters made their way out of the plaza for about an hour the police had a loudspeaker
6:27 am
instructing people if they did not leave that they would be subject to arrest. for the most part it looks like that is exactly what they did. i am at 14th and clay. you can see that they are processing some people that have been arrested. one protester has on hand task. once they make arrests, they will process them over here. this is 14th street down towards the broadway. i am looking south down 14th street towards broadway. for a gogol plaza would be on last. the police have a
6:28 am
love-in and are starting to take down the encampment. >>darya: what did interesting tactic they are moving--they are using this time. they are allowing to protest in the street, police are going in from the inside and taking down the tents, arresting a few protesters here and there, separately, without sparking a mass movement. >>james: a quick break and we're back with more in just a minute.
6:30 am
6:31 am
6:32 am
everything is moving very peacefully. there have been probably two dozen arrests. there have been 12 arrests so far. there have been another dozen or so who refused to leave and were escorted by police. there are individuals in front of city hall there are sitting here with their eyes closed. right now they are
6:33 am
slowly being held to their feet. >>darya: >>james: this is the camera position at 14th and broadway. police are retreating down broadway towards 12th street. we will try to get confirmation of that. there is that the lease line that will transcribed as a wall of statues with police in their right here. it looks like they're headed in the opposite direction of the plaza. jackie sissel is on the phone with us, he is over at 14th and clay.
6:34 am
>>jackie: even see the lines coming in. i am on 14th and clay. i am looking to the south towards frank ogawa plaza. more police vehicles have entered the area. here is video that i just shot about 10 minutes ago. the police have moved in on frank ogawa plaza, they systematically went through the closet tents by tents. as they went in, there were told to make sure there was no one inside of the tents. they immediately tore down the tense. they went tents by tens starting from the south end, working their way to the north and toward city hall. i was there for 5-10 minutes as they went through the plaza. i did not see a
6:35 am
single protester inside of the encampment. you can see that they were very careful to see if anyone was inside. you ask if there were any protesters inside, here is one shot that i got before i left, there are three silent protesters sitting indian style, waiting for police to move in. we're being told that there are about 30 protesters that have been arrested for. this is a live shot. you can see some of the protesters being brought over to 14th and clay. this is where they will be brought--this is where they will be processed. hist we have been told about 30 people have been arrested. >>darya: the police are on the move. it looks like they were standing down on one corner of the place where
6:36 am
they had been fenced off. you can see that there are fewer police from the line on the left-hand side. it does appear that many of the tents, not all, are down. they're cleaning up inside the closet. >>james: this is a very different tactic this time around on the part of oakland police. back on october 25th base started on the outside and squeeze the protesters into applause and began arresting people there. this time, they separated protesters and went in and methodically took down the tents and removing anyone that might have been still inside. >>darya: plenty of police and protesters in the streets of oakland. we're back with extended coverage and a couple of minutes. you can also count on our facebook page in our twitter feed as well as www.kron4.com for more
6:41 am
6:42 am
>>jackie: the only three i saw were sitting on the outskirts of the camp, they were sitting peacefully. there are estimates of about 30 arrests. i am at the processing center here. if they are in plastic handcuffs, their pictures are taken, their information is taken and there are taken over to this processing area. there are a large number of buses that are set out. these will have to clear a county sheriff to come along with the alameda county's sheriff's department, people are placed on these buses and presumably taken to jail. didn't.
6:45 am
6:46 am
>>james: jackie sissel is live inside the plaza as police were tearing down the tents. at the last time we spoke estimated 30 people had an interest and there was a city since the in the in that out. netflix >>jackie: we have not seen any new protesters. we have seen more officers arrived. we saw several vans arrived just a moment ago. i will walk you through what happened about 25 minutes ago. france is the actual start of when the police moved into frank ogawa plaza. this is in the far side, the farthest away from city hall. they started in a line and started moving frank ogawa plaza one by one, tents by tense, making sure no one was inside the tents. as they went through they checked the tents to make sure no one was inside. as soon as they determine no
6:47 am
one was inside, they tore down the tents. he can see them taking down the tents, cutting the strings and ripping the tarps, makings for no one was inside all morning long, as they had set of a column or a round of plaza, for around the in camera, they had a loudspeaker belief morning protesters that they were breaking the law if they did not leaf fan the that they would be subject to arrest. if there were told to gather the avalon hill can't leave the flaws of. most of the protesters he did that morning and left the plaza. i was there for 10-15 minutes. i did not see a single protester inside. they must have gotten a warning and moved out of the plaza before police moved in. for the most part, it looks life all of the police that moved in were oakland police department. i know that the elevated county sheriff had other officers
6:48 am
and deputies here along with multiple agencies. if i only saw oakland police recovered inside of frank ogawa plaza. i would guess that there were 45-50 tents inside the fog that when they moved inside. i am being told now by da lin that all of the tents have been taken down. set them about 20 minutes to go through and tear down the tents. i am being told about one person was arrested inside of the encampment. right now that is basically what is going on. you can see some of the forces mobilizing. i do not know exactly where they are headed. i am at 14th and clays. broadway is right down that street. frank ogawa plaza is on the left. if you can see a new mobilization of officers. we do not know what share of
6:49 am
agency it is. again, how it looks like 35-40 officers in full riot gear. they have on combat helmets with batons. all of them have those plastic handcuffs. friday are moving down 14th ward fraud way. i do not know exactly where they are headed right now. cracks for >>jackie: these are reinforcements that have not been and how in the fog with now. >>darya: they still have a crowd to the call.
6:50 am
6:51 am
zoom in, and he conceded tents right there. i do not see anyone at the camp at this time. they have either been arrested or they were moved out from the encampment. the encampment itself are dozens of tents that are empty. it is almost as if, the best way to describe it, like a tornado went through. that is what is left of a tornado that went through here. i do not know if the police officers did it or the occupiers themselves. at this time officers are basically standing here. the people you see are the media open to get more information.
