increase our chances for rain in the north bay. this future cast is set for a a.m., the light green indicates that there is light rainfall infiltrating the bay area. as we advance the clock by lunchtime it becomes a little more widespread of the to the north bay. the yellow indicates moderate rainfall as we advance closer to 1:00 p.m. it crosses the golden gate bridge in downtown san francisco and portions of the east bay will deal with rainfall. we will continue to see this through out the evening. we are still contending with wet weather by 9:00 p.m. on friday. here is a mature afternoon highs, mostly in the '50s no one getting in the 60s today. oakland could be one of the warmest spots coming in at 67--57. >>erica: your seven day

around the bay forecast shows wet weather not only for today but stretching into the weekend as well. we will definitely see shower activity and we could see a break for most locations saturday afternoon. sunday we will see heavier rainfall along the coastline. we set the stage for more wet weather as we head into wednesday and yes, that chance at does exist to see some potential rainfall as we get closer to thanksgiving day. over in the traffic department we have a hot spot to tell you about, eastbound highway 24 after pleasant hill road, a fatal accident is there one fatality has been confirmed. three lanes have been blocked off and one lane is open. it is early and still in the non commute section so we see it the green on the roadways indicating speeds over 50 mph. we have

no indication of when these lanes will be open so i would avoid the area if you can. we are sending a live crew to the scene so hopefully we will have more information coming up in my next report. other than that we had a little bit of road work around the bay area nothing really slowing down your ride. the north bound minutes freeway--minute freeway is clear. west bound and he's down 92 are in very good shape. as he take it over to the golden gate bridge south bound 101, and empty deck awaits you. >>justine: occupy uc- berkeley protesters are holding a meeting at sproul hall they discussed what

their next steps will be. the biggest discussion if they should set up a another in kama now or wait a few weeks. this is after the police tore down their encampment of about 20 something tents. >>justine: occupy oakland have now moved to snow park and they plan on moving to another part that is used by the oakland school for the arts. this school was having concerned about how to keep students away from the protesters when school comes back on monday. we will take a look at the james lick freeway this looks to be a start of a wet weekend. stay with us.

have the right to appeal the decision. this goes back to the ninth circuit court of appeal or a future ruling will be made on whether proposition 8 violates the u.s. constitution. it looks like the federal government will have a pretty hard time avoiding another shutdown happening through mid december. both the senate and house passed a temporary spending bill that will last until december 16th. the last spending bill they passed was set to run out on midnight on friday. lawmakers keep having to pass these temporary gaps because the senate has not passed a full federal budget plan since april 2009. >>james: here in california the budget battle is heating educated where it hurts, state educators from grades k through 12 are bracing for cuts that could come to their own school if the state revenues are as low as they are projected. then permit take a look at what that might mean for school districts and the students. >>reporter: schools across

california are bracing for immediate around a budget cuts that could be triggered if state revenues are as low as the new report suggests. >> is getting really tough for schools, schools have cut class sizes, some districts have reduced the school year they have laid off teachers they do not have many other places to be able to go. >>reporter: $240 million in home to two school transportation could be cut along with $1.5 billion in k through 12 education. >> i believe almost all of our 23 school districts have plan to be able to come from a year budget cuts. >>reporter: mateo county school superintendent says that most school districts in san mateo county have already set aside reserves so that these additional cuts will have little to no impact this year. districts that did not do the same thing may end of laying off non teaching staff, or they may shorten their school

year by creating additional furlough days for teachers. >> what is being shortchanged in all of this is our future these are kids and we owe them a good education. >>reporter: the state is still weighing a second report to determine whether or not the triggers will take place and the cuts will be made. the final determination will be coming on december 15th. if the cuts need to be made, they will become effective on january 1st. >>james: we have a quick break that for 20 1:00 a.m.. let us go outside and give you a look at mount tancam. so far it isn't ok morning. there is a chance for rain for today and into the weekend will get a look at this with erika's coming up at the bottom of the hour.

>>reporter: swat team members with guns drawn as they searched the vallejo neighborhood for a second suspect in the shooting death of an officer who was gunned down as he chased the man. police say they

responded to a robbery in vallejo on spring street just after 1:30 p.m.. and in rock officer spotted the suspect suv that you see right here after a three to 4 mi. high-speed chase the suv was bumped by the police and forcing it to spin out there was a foot chase, shops were fired and then an officer went down eventually dying from his wounds. the police say the officer did not fire any shots and he was wearing body armor. officers arrested a suspect shortly thereafter and a closed off roads in the area and went door-to-door for several hours. they search for a second possible suspect but did not find anyone. several hours later they open the neighborhood to those trying to get home. >>james: officer capoot flag draped casket was taken by van away from the hospital last night. reggie kumar continues our team coverage with a closer look at his life. >>reporter: officer capoot

tents so far there is no indication of what the students plan to do next. occupy protesters in oakland are still maintaining their presence in the city but for now, they are out of snow park excuse me, they are camping out in snow park as the numbers continue to grow, protesters planned to relocate to the henry j. kaiser memorial park however, a section of the part is used by students of the oakland school for the arts. that school now has concerned on how they plan to keep students separate from the protesters when school goes back in session on monday. >>james: we will take a quick break as we go we have live pictures to show you from vallejo, a memorial has been set up and honor of officer jim capoot he has been with the police department for nearly two decades he had 18 years on the force and he was gunned down yesterday in a shootout with a suspected bank robber. we will have more on this story coming up in just a little bit.

police department shrunk, they had to outsource some of the police work to some of the other surrounding agency that made them a little bit closer than your typical police department. it is already small and got even smaller and in the death of the 45 year-old police officer, a veteran of the vallejo police department. not only is the police department but also volunteered at a local high school and i heard that even students there even though he is no longer there he stopped volunteering around aug. the impact is felt throughout the community. we will talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. >>james: thank you for that update will follow this story throughout the morning. >>justine: in other news around the bay, the san francisco department of public works is gearing up for this season by conducting a pothole blitz. they are going to identify and steel pot holes along major route through the end

of the week. this is a part of their campaign to ensure smooth, accessible and safe passage of travel. a fairfield mother has been convicted of murder following a fire that killed her three young children and a niece. sharetta jame las left the children along in the apartment while the power was off according to testimony she and her sister went outside to charge cellphone. the family was using candles that may have started this fire and she is facing up to 20 years in prison. >>justine: the death investigation and the drowning of actress natalie wood will not be reopened. she died after a night of partying on her yacht with her husband robert wagner and another actor. originally ruled an accident the police say they just that new information related to the case. a news

we want to talk about a multicar accident that happened earlier this morning on eastbound highway 24 around 3:00 a.m. just east of pleasant hill road. george, what can you tell us about this and how is it impacting traffic? >> george: so far this is not having a big impact on traffic because it is in a non commute direction of highway 24. the commute direction is so light at present, there is not enough traffic headed by to release slowdown anything. the bad news however is that they are likely to see this happen because there is no estimate of when it will reopen. >> darya: let us talk with jackie was on the scene right now see what he can tell us. can you hear me? it looks like we are losing that shot. go ahead. >>reporter: police vehicles are still on scene, the chp has not released much more

about officer jim capoot, he was gunned down in a pursuit of a bank robbery suspect yesterday afternoon. police have arrested one suspect it is unclear if that person shot and killed a 43 year-old officer. police responded there are greek at the bank of or america just after 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon. officer spotted the suspect suv and after a three or four mile high speed chase the suv was bumped by the police force it to spin out, then it became a foot chase and the pursuit of that into back yards of homes in the neighborhood and that is where gunfire was exchanged. the officer died of his injuries at the hospital. officer capoot was before the vallejo police officer killed in line of duty in the city's 155 year history. we will have more on this story throughout the morning. we want to focus on the vallejo city officials
