this thanksgiving. today got off to a rainy start in the bay area but it is very dry right now. robin is here to tell us what is ahead. >> the storm tracker issuing clear conditions throughout the bay area yes we got up to it would start this morning, we have a lot of moisture in the year. we have been dealing with overcast conditions, but as you can see the storm tracker shows that it is clear. take a look to the sprins mostly in the north bay later on this evening so a very slight chance of sprinkles. right now it is dried on the cool side, here is in the pay your current conditions. we see fifties for the most part. >> it is cool, but dry throughout the bay area. here is what we can expect.

intersection of aspen drive and central avenue. when they arrived, they found a man richard stratton stabbed in the driveway. he died later at the hospital. one suspect has now been identified was taken into custody, he is being held on $1 million bail. in san jose the police have arrested a registered sex offender for possibly assaulting another man. the man on the screen right now has a conviction for assaulting a child under the age of 14. now the police say they--that he also sought to the 90 year-old homeless man, he is accused of luring the man and his home in offering him a place to stay the police say that is when he sexually assaulting the homeless man while he was asleep. >>pam: in san paulo a big landslide has launched a lawsuit against the city and a group of homeowners. back in march 3rd homes were damaged between hillcrest

road and wine industry. now the owners are accusing the city and their neighbors of not properly maintaining the storm drains. they say they gave the city early morning and nothing was done. now the dispute will be settled in court. >>pam: thanksgiving is in full swing across the bay area one of the busiest spot for meals each thanksgiving day, live memorial church in san francisco and this was the scene earlier today has an army of volunteers sliced of dozens of turkeys and prepared much more food for 5000 meals for people that are homeless or less fortunate this year. more than 500 volunteers and servers have been preparing for the big meal. more than 1000 turkeys were donated for the san francisco tradition. people who were eating their today said that they are definitely thankful for the generosity. >> i came running because i

is here at a restaurant in richmond the marina district. that is what 300 of the city's homeless received on this holiday. a thanksgiving gift from the restaurant owner. >> today my dream come true. >>reporter: the ethiopian born work her way up from being a whole--a hostess here back in the mid 90's to now only the waterfront restaurant. she says prior to that she too was among the homeless. >> i was one of them. and i am still one of them. in 1984 i was in a woman's shelter and i was nine months per day. i had my son at the woman shelter. >>reporter: fast forward to today she is a successful businesswoman this as opening the doors to the restaurant to those that were less fortunate this thanksgiving is her way of giving thanks in memory of those who helped her when she had no place to live.

>>reporter: president obama is grateful this thanksgiving. scene on his own he called 10 u.s. service members thanking them, he called troops from the air force, army, coast guard, marines, and the navy. the first family is enjoying their thanksgiving at the white house bubble for that, the president the first lady and daughter sasha served up food at the d.c. food bank. and the pentagon said thanksgiving dinner all around the world. will fly you to and show you camp victory this is pictures from camp victory in iraq 20,000 troops are still there but this is the last thanksgiving there, all the military forces must be out of there by the end of this year. let us go to

afghanistan, i will show you video of a line to get the food. you can see all these guys lined up taking the food, they are loving it. this is the 10th year celebrating the holiday at the air base in afghanistan. there are also troops in kuwait that are being taken care of this thanksgiving. what is everybody eating? turkey. the defense department provided more than 8,020 lb. turkey. what else? that is a good question. we put together a list of the menu, more than 37,000 lbs. of stuffing, 43,000 lbs. of sweet potatoes. more than 25,000 lbs. of cranberries and 35,000 pies. you have the turkey of course there that still hot. being home with family is obviously preferred by all the military men and women but at least the people calling themselves at risk to protect america can enjoy a tasty meal this thanksgiving.

>>pam: u.s. congresswoman gabrielle giffords made her first public appearance among her constituents this thanksgiving to help serve dinner to u.s. troops. she and her husband after not mark kelly volunteered at the davis found air force base in tucson today. she has been undergoing rehabilitation in houston tx as she recovers from a gunshot wound in the head. she was one of the 19 people shot back in january 6th of the people die from their wounds, gabrielle giffords decided she wants to come and participate in this even herself. also, a crash left six people dead including three children. the co-pilot had just picked up his children to celebrate the thanksgiving holiday it took off before it crashed into a steep mountain range. today the share spokesperson describe the scene. armed
