shots of the protesters at the port of oakland. they marched there from frank ogawa plaza. you are looking live at that picture, you can see the golf snelling as out. date regrouped at frank ogawa plaza and marched towards the court just moments ago. some of them are still on the move drying to get to the floor fury if this is a situation that started early this morning at about 530 a sec when they grow cover protesters, a couple hundred of them started from downtown oakland making a march towards the ongoing effort from the occupy can sign this draft business and operations and suppress the so-called 1%. this has been going on across the western seaboard. as far north as

their movement, they appear to be dancing and celebrating something. we can only speculate that it is another successful march towards the port of oakland. the march started in downtown oakland. this movement has been going on for months starting in wall street. you can see the live television trucks and all of the people, we are estimating several hundred have gone to the port of oakland. reporters of ours have estimated that several thousand are there. this situation started early this morning before the sun came up. fear has been in the works since alas occupied fourth protest about a lot

of the of harry's the oakland for its is the fifth largest in the nation. this is an entire system of ford's that protesters have been trying to shut down. before oakland did not close down officially on entirely. a spokesman for the longshoremen union is saving shippers at the port of oakland had to stop and work sporadically, but they did not shut down entirely for the day. there is another shift set to start at seven camps. a spokesman for a long slump since union says that shippers at the ports are not asking for any workers for the monday night shift. they're telling people not to come in because of the ongoing protests. certainly there is evidence already that it's

late afternoon, early evening protest at the port of oakland is succeeding at least in disrupting operations and as you heard, some workers are being told not to show up for their shifts tonight. shippers requested about 200 longshoremen for the monday morning shift. again, this started before dawn. most of them were sent home after protesters blocked some of the port entrance is. you might remember when they did this last month, the protesters, some of them got on top of trucks that were trying to get in and unload of harriet most of these truck drivers did not get paid by the hour, they get paid by the lowe's and how quickly they can get their load out of the port is it to its destination. that is one of the issues here. for

you have to assume that the majority of these workers at the oakland court are a part of the 99% and a lot of those people have to give up wages today as a result of this destruction. in the bottom right hand side of your screen, it looks like some of those protesters are on top of trucks. for even the people holding signs and waving flags. they have ample treated at area and taken it over. it appears they have effectively shut things down. that is not the official word, that is just as speculating. a spokesperson did tell shippers not to come to work for the monday evening shift that stars as 7:00 p.m.. we're going to continue to stay on top of the story and we will be

>>grant: welcome back to our live coverage of the occupy protests as they marched to the port of oakland tried to shut it down. before dawn, there was a morning movement to disrupt operations at the port that was successful by some estimations. there were two people arrested. the protesters regrouped at frank ogawa plaza in have since moved back to the port of oakland. j.r stone is live at the port of oakland. >>j.r.: you can see the crowd directly behind me. it is a very large turnout. 3000-4000 people. the group you are looking at, a majority of them marched from the downtown area. they plan on having a general

assembly meeting when one of the other groups gets here from oakland. they have basically done with they have done in other locations. they stopped people at the different entrances. it is affecting people trying to come in and out. there is usually a 7:00 p.m. shift. between 100-200 workers are normally called in. we have gotten word that they did not call anyone into. keep in mind, one of the things that is going to come up in this general assembly is they will vote on whether or not to extend this protista to 3:00 a.m. shift that would affect another 100-200 workers.

this happened a month ago at the beginning of the occupy protests. couth call call as you see, in the middle of your screen, there are people congregating by one of the entrances. their mission is to shut down as many to the port of oakland as possible. as we zoom in closer, you have seen, and if people have gathered all around the entrance to the port of oakland. some of them on top of trucks carried towards the bottom of your screen in looks like people are on top of trucks and congregating. some have signs, some have flags. we have seen people dancing. had corridor along soon this

>>reporter: quickly so many different people are in this area, we are talking a least three to 4000 people at the very minimum and slightly over that because it keeps building as we going to later nighttime hours. look at how many people are on top of the semi truck. in the past that differ rallies, we have seen five or 10 on a semi truck that semi truck alone has somewhere around 30 or 40. you heard grant talking about a 7:00 p.m. shift, usually you have somewhere in the neighborhood between 102 hundred workers on the ship, they have not been called in to work. the next time is around 3:00 a.m. and one of the things that they just talked about on the loudspeaker is the fact that they will vote. they will vote on whether or not to keep this process going until 3:00 a.m.. that is not

arrested we have heard of this afternoon are to that happened in the early afternoon hours. as we did it all these people, you can see that they go all the way down the street keep in mind, you do not see any officers, but officers are out here. when i arrived early this afternoon they were here in the dozens, there were a dozen in this truck, a dozen in that truck they were in a nearby park in this area. one of the reasons we set up at this location was because there were so many busloads of police in riot gear, but again this is not something that you are seeing more looking at right now because they are sort of holding back on the sides and letting protesters basically do what they have come to do and that is protest. at times it gives you the impression that you are at a party at other times they're getting more room home marked their message across. workers have not
