talk with erica about our weather forecasts and did a quick traffic updates. >>erica: we see very clear conditions outside so it is a chilly start to the morning. at times the camera was shaking pretty violently we have some high winds and strong wind gust and higher elevations. as i mentioned it is a clear start to the morning. the most locations are in the '30's and 40's. as we head into the

your approach to the bay bridge toll plaza is a pretty light right. in fact there are no metering lights to deal with. set is a warning of a full freeway closures i will get to that in just a second, but highway 92 is problem free with traffic moving at a limit. we have a check of your golden gate bridge ride south bound 101. as we take it over to the traffic maps, i actually have my eye on the potential hot spot this could be a major as we head into the next few hours. there is a full freeway closures in effect right now stretching until about 5:30 a.m.. the chp is actually conducting in redirecting traffic to bayfront south so anyone taking south bound 101 through the peninsula will be affected by this

this morning. >>justine: pg&e is now being allowed to raise pressure on its natural gas pipelines. this is video from last year's explosion in san bruno that killed eight people. two of the lines that will get a power boost went to the same pike that exploded. the pressure was reduced after that disaster. pg&e has been testing the pipes and they say that they are safe. >>james: a congressional expressing doubt about the california high-speed rail project. there will questions on why the costs have more than doubled to $98.5 billion. there were also questions about delays, the project is expected to wrap up and 2033, that is 13 years longer than originally projected. >>justine: former house >> newt gingrich leads the

>>erica: enough for arlen north bay locations we have some temperatures of the freezing mark will have low 40 to around the bay area. we will see a lot of sunshine on tap in temperatures are a few degrees cooler than we had yesterday. we are now running at the seasonal average. as we turn our attention to the week and we will continue to see the sunshine and dry weather forecast developed for saturday and sunday and even the weekend ahead. right now want to show the current conditions ticket if this is like santa rosa and navato, already at the freezing mark and the ticket could continue to drop. everyone else is running on the outside. in the downtown san francisco we have 45 degrees there and upper '30's to the south bay. in to the

bonds going to court to testify about use of steroids. he will be back in court today and we will give you the updates throughout the morning as he is expected to arrive around 10:00 a.m.. >>justine: grant lotus has more on how home run king found himself trying to avoid prison. >>reporter: in 2003 bay area laboratory cooperative was raided and the grand jury investigation began. in december of that year barry bonds to a grand jury that he never knowingly used steroids. fast forward to august of 2007, he became

baseball's all-time home run leader. in november of 2007 he was indicted in accused of lying to the grand jury about using steroids. april of this year he was convicted in federal court for obstruction of justice but the jury is deadlocked on the three perjury charges. >>justine: to that investigation began nearly a decade ago with the focus on balco its founder pleaded guilty to distributing steroids and went to prison for four months. we talked with the main man about barry bonds and his role in the overall federal probe into steroids. >> i think that barry bonds is definitely the greatest hitter as that played the game that is why pinned him. i have enormous respect for him. the balco founder is still a big fan of barry bonds. as to whether or not

he used steroids he is less definitive. >> and i think it is suspicious of any athlete that has a surge in performance and it is not just with barry bonds. >>reporter: he says he believes barry bonds was still out among all the athletes when he was brought before the grand jury he also thinks that too much money has been spent by the feds in this investigation but he admits that there is an upside. >> it has increased the awareness there has been a positive change there is testing a place where it has not been before. >>reporter: still he believes that there are many major league baseball players that continued use the drug and he blames major-league baseball for that. >> i do not think they're taking it as seriously as they could because if they were they would test when the athletes use these drugs and that is in the off- season. >>reporter: he admits that he made a mistake. >> i was reckless i did not understand that how others who did not cheat in did not

upper 30s in the south bay and checking out feature cast for. we want to see where the trend will go into the rest of the day. by 7:00 a.m. it looks like we will hold onto some of those 30 to up to the north bay in the east bay valleys as well. everyone else is in the 40's and '50's around the bay area. by 11:00 a.m. all the light blue on your screen indicates that temperatures are getting into the 50s. by 2:00 p.m. we finally see some green up to the north bay and it is for some south bay locations as well. we have not seen this in a while because temperatures have been below the seasonal average. i will show you where the numbers will go to the afternoon. we will see a lot of sunshine. we have 61 degrees on tap for oakland, hayward, and redwood city and a touch cooler than that into hayward in half moon bay. satellite and radar does show clear and dry

conditions over the bay area. the wet weather system that we dealt with yesterday has pushed its way closer to mexico. we will continue to see a dry weather pattern for the next couple days. you will see that on your extended forecast. we have upper fifties and low 60s to any of sunshine and dry and mild conditions as we head into the middle of next week. well up the incline and across the upper deck. checking out the san until bridge traffic is running pretty smoothly in both directions of highway 92. in fact this ride is just 14 minutes from end to end. as the ticket over to the golden gate bridge, we have very few cars on this stand. traffic is definitely moving at the limit. your entire ride is clocking at 24 minutes out of navato

ports san francisco. we have new details in the investigation of two rapes that happen in the mission district on november 18th and december 8th. it happened a long 24 to street in the mission. police are calling this case a top priority. >> and really do have the east and we're working them up as fast as we can. we realize that this makes the community very anxious to have such a person at large and we are sparing absolutely no resources try and get this guy into custody as quickly as we can. handing out this crime bulletin with a new composite sketch of the suspect in hopes of triggering someone's been reached. a $25,000 reward has been offered by the mayor's office to add extra incentive. police are putting up extra patrols by both uniformed and undercover officers.

investigators described the victims target by the suspect has petite women, one asian, and another is white, in both cases the assailant grabbed women from behind and then continued to beat, choke, sexually assaulted and robbed them. the violent nature of the crimes committed against these women has made the case personal for the officers involved. >> i think the senselessness bothers a lot of the police officers especially when crimes are like this against children, or those that are less able to protect themselves we are more avid. >>justine: stephen clark is accused of kidnapping and raping a 34 year old woman after he met her over the weekend. wednesday the chp reported seeing him in san diego county but he ran away before they could contact him. he was convicted of rape in texas and he is considered armed and

>>james: we are back, and face books new feature called time line is not active is slowly being rolled out to all facebook users. in september he introduced the new facebook and he said it will transform your profile into a digital scrapbook of your life. gabe slate walks as to how this works. >>reporter: eventually you will see and in light on your profile page to enroll yourself into the new timeline look. when you decide to join it is a process it takes time you have to use settings and preferences. first use a photograph for your cover this the first thing that

people see when they visit your facebook profile now called timeline. it is like the new profile picture is displayed much bigger. your time line is the story of your life so you are encouraged to of los stories and photographs and post them like a wedding, graduation, when you got your first car or go back to baby pictures and the story of your birth, facebook will organize the dates of the stories the more you scroll down the deeper you get into someone's like and their past. on the right side of the time line you see the years in dates and you can use this to jump to any or ticketed time in your life. the post, more stories as they call them in your time line you can easily hide those from people. you can feature them to friends and the public or keeping him in for yourself. when you upgrade timeline you have seven days to review and add things that will appear on your timeline before anyone else can see it. you can choose to publish your time line any time during the

see a lot of sunshine, warmer conditions that what we saw yesterday and into the overnight hours we will continue with the clear and dry conditions temperatures will mix out in the '40's and '30's so right outside the door to a look at santa rosa. it is coming in at 31 degrees, pretty much the same story at navato. we see very low temperatures up to the north bay everyone else is running on the mild side. as we head into the afternoon, we will actually see warmer conditions compared to what we have seen for the last week. we have been running below the seasonal average but it looks like we will see some of the fifties and low 60s. for the most part, was the low 60s and the south bay and the north bay, 62 degrees on tap for santa rosa, and one degree warmer than that into downtown san francisco. as i did mention the strong winds, not so much of a factor right now,

not one, not to, but three bikes attached. all have flat tires and those for the interesting things that i found in the mission district but one person's trash is another person's treasure. in some cases is simple garbage being dumped on the street and all types of furniture. so, how you know if they don't couch has been sitting too long? it is easy just check on the back for the graffiti tag you can find just about anything from microwaves to shoes and everything in between. in light of the trash dump can be found in the smaller rallies like these paint cans. see this cardboard box? if you look inside it actually contains reviews coffee cups. and some residents say that this has gotten better which i find amazing because within just a few hours some areas look really bad. in san francisco

joining us on friday december 16th. a developing story out of san francisco. at 11:00 a.m., barry bonds will be sentenced. the sentencing comes more than 80 years after he testified before a grand jury and testified about his ties to

the illegal drug use. he was convicted of one count of obstruction of justice. the sentencing phase takes place today. will tran is outside of the federal court building to tell how much prison time barry bonds is facing. >>will: right now it is quiet outside of the court house. he is looking at a maximum of 16 months in prison. that is what prosecutors are asking for. the judge has done this before for two other athletes in similar cases. in those cases, she sentenced them to house arrest. in this case, if she

follows history, that could be the case. even experts admit, when you go before your sentencing it is a case by case situation. in the worst-case scenario, marion jones, another athlete that admitted using steroids, she was sentenced to six months in prison. we will just have to weed and seed. the sentencing should not take very long. we will try to bring it to you as soon as that happens. we have a lot going on this morning. this could be the last time barry bonds is seen in court. >>darya: a late night shooting in san jose police some unanswered questions this morning as craig skalar tells us, a suspect died

from gunshot wounds after police say they fired at the man in self-defense. greg >> police say there was an officer involved shooting at 11:30 p.m.. several offers is confronted the man and he displayed threatening behavior. the man was taken to regional medical center and pronounced dead just after midnight. the police homicide unit is investigating this so far, there's been no new information released. >>justine: more on the penn state scandal, a star quarterback and now a star witness. mike mccurry is set to testify for two of his former bosses at penn state. both are charged with perjury in failing to support suspected child
