the weather. >>erica: the morning to you james, we are mostly clear out there. we do have some patchy fog along the coastline. we will mostly be in the '60s this afternoon but this morning is a little chilly so you definitely want to bottle up. now as we show you the temperatures are right outside the door, you will see upper 20's and low 30's are around the bay area. santa rosa is coming in just under the freezing mark at 31 degrees. take a look at other spots around the bay area. in fact downtown san francisco for our warmest spots, we had 39 for those in oakland and 32 along the peninsula for those in redwood city. a cold start to the morning and it will continue to be that way still hold more to some kurdish rebel petaluma and in through napa. everywhere else is creeping up to the '40's. as we

the upper 50s and 60s although we will have to contend with the chilly mornings. in the traffic center we do not have any hot spots. the chp traffic clogs have been pretty quiet. we have some minor accident and a think -- some minor accident out there but nothing affecting the freeway. traffic is moving pretty well up the incline and across the upper deck. over here at the san mateo bridge the traffic is about equal in both directions of highway 92. this ride is just 14 minutes for an end to end. and south bound 101 you will see problem free conditions for your entire ride out marin county. i do want to show you the south bay once again. we usually see some routine slowly around the milpitas area. we are seeing speeds and the green over 50 mi. per hour and we do see a

>>james: the death of kim jong ill is making a lot of people nervous. so far the u.s. military said there had been no sign of military movement from the north that would signal instability but north korean media is that the country will become a fool nuclear-weapons state sometime next year. in central cairo, at least three more protesters have been killed. the death toll now stands at 14. the clashes have been raging since friday in and around the square that has served as the epicenter a popular uprising of longtime leader mobarick back in february.

the coldest portion is the north bay where they are at or below the freezing mark. >>justine: right now we will talk about national news, if you're waiting to find out if your taxes will go up next year, you may have to wait a little bit longer. the house of representatives scrapped plans for a vote that could resolve the issue for two months. >>reporter: the clock is ticking but congress is no closer to a compromise on the payroll tax cut deal. the house of representatives was expected to vote on monday on a temporary measure to extend the tax holiday for two months. a republican scrap those plans during a late-night meeting at the house rules committee. >> we out right reject the attempt by the senate to kick the can down for 60 days. >>reporter: the senate passed the two month extension last week with overwhelming support from both democrats and

>>james: the national weather service says about 10 in. fell in kansas and more is expected as the storm continues east. this storm has much as close down highways it has filled hotels from mexico all the way to kansas. the conditions are being blamed for at least six deaths. there have been some accident even people leaving their cars on the side the road. four to 8 in. of snow could fall along with the blustery winds. this is not a good day for travel either on the ground or in the year to date. >>justine: it does not look like any of the snow was
