>>justine: good morning happened to me after christmas it is 4:00 a.m. thank you for starting your day with us i am justine waldman. we will start with a check of traffic a lot of people may be off in the want to know what is going on, good morning erica. good morning justine.-- >>erica: good morning justine. we have a cold start for our north bay locations. several spots are in the 20's and 30's as the turn our attention to the afternoon we will see a mist of sun and clouds. we are

struggling to make it out of the '50s that i will show you that in just a minute. but as the to the numbers right outside the door there are 30's and even some 20s out there. fairfield is coming in at 26 degrees, 30 for those in santa rosa, 31 in napa, and 36 for those in a bottle. everywhere south of the golden gate bridge we are dealing with mild temperatures out there. in fact downtown san francisco is coming in at 46 degrees and 48 degrees for those at half moon bay. it is faulty i mention that. all this orange on your screen indicates visibility down to about or amount. there has a strong conditions for the entire section a 101. you want to drive with extra caution. the good news is, as we get close to the 10:00 hour and and into the afternoon we are indicating mid-50s for most cars. places like mountain view and morgan hill can dip in

the mid-50s. it looks like 56 is the common number for many spots. we have 57 for antioch and 57 for those in santa rosa. it looks like we will see low 50s in marin county. taking a look at your satellite and radar we are high and dry over the bay area. we do have a storm system pushing its way) closer to northern california. it looks like the wet weather that we are expecting that middle of next week will stay north. your seven day around the bay forecast shows a lot of cloud coverage as we head to the next work week. temperatures for the most part will be in the upper 50s and maybe some low 60s as we move closer to wednesday. we are contending with some pretty chilly overnight lows. as we get closer to the we can we will see more sunshine. and the traffic the party we do not have much in the way of

let me take a live look at the james lick freeway there is light traffic this morning i know it is start out there. even though it is the day after christmas authorities are saying that they're keeping their eyes on the road to make sure that everyone stays safe. the coast and a feel went on a ride along with the chp and she has more on the number of dui arrest that were made this my--holiday season. >> exit the freeway. >>reporter: this chp officer pulled over a driver for swerving in and out of lanes on the 580 freeway in oakland. he stopped the driver and acts a few questions only to find out the driver is just really tired after working a long shift on christmas day. this shop did not result in a dui arrest, bay area chp officers have been cracking down on the you by this whole holiday season. >> people having going to a

on the clippers also was a tough week for montay ellis, first harassment allegations and the the death of his grandmother over the holiday weekend. ellis played through it putting up 50 points in last night's game. david lee led the team with 21. of the clippers were too much schooling the season opener for the warriors 105 to 86. we welcome fans who were there to welcome back pro basketball to the area. >>reporter: by opening the doors in welcoming the fans into the arena the warriors officially kicked off a season on christmas night. many fans were excited to get in after the nba lockout that delayed the season by a couple months. >> i am excited i cannot wait. i was mad about the lockout but the warriors are back in we are one to play. >>reporter: it the new season brings high hopes.

>> down in his neighborhood it all mean to a waiver and these are san francisco for nine children. statistics are 22 her school-age kids in san francisco are homeless. it is a lot of kids the fault of--it is a lot of kids that fall through the cracks. but this is the real deal but i couldn't find them walking around the rim --streets they're all dressed up and looking to go to breakfast or go to church and this is just a wonderful experience for them. >> it is a wonderful experience, i filled my car with toys i drove around the district and i see pretty--i see kids and i stopped and i open the door until the pick what you like and there really happy. the walk away with a big smile.

>>justine: just like christmas presents not everyone can afford a christmas meal. volunteers at the salvation army are here to help. >>reporter: the assembly line started early. >> a lot of these go to people that cannot go to organized sites or are homebound for whatever reason. so these mills get home delivered. we knock on the door, we say good morning and merry christmas the salvation army is here and here is a nice hot meal. >>reporter: the salvation army has 50 years worth of experience with this. people who cannot afford a meal and cannot leave their home will get one. >> would pick up the boxes, we have a route, we follow the route in week of these homes and houses. we go and

outside your door you definitely want to bundle up. the good news is that we see better conditions and more mild conditions and the rest of the bay area. we have a pretty chilly 36 degrees and 334 concord at this hour. we do have some instances of fog, pretty dense throughout the north bay. all this on to on your screen indicates less than a quarter mile visibility for the entire stretch of 101 north of santa rosa stretching down to the golden gate bridge. we are looking at some pretty hazardous driving conditions out there. into the afternoon, we have for the most part widespread '50s on tap, mid-50s around the bay area. we could see some upper 50s and 60s in the south bay. take a look at

navato, we have 55 degrees there, 53 for those in san raphael and the same temperature for those found in downtown san francisco this afternoon. your satellite and radar shows clear and dry conditions over the bay area right now. we do have another storm system that is moving closer and closer to northern california. right now looks like the timing of the storm will be tuesday night to wednesday morning and it looks like the majority of the wet weather will stay well to the north of us. so maybe we will have some might sprinkle for places like santa rosa and even north of that but that is pretty much all we are looking at. for the most part we see mostly cloudy conditions. in the traffic department, it is pretty quiet out there nothing to tell you about an holiday lights are all around the bay area. at the approach to the bay bridge toll plaza there are very few cars headed out of oakland into san francisco. traffic is

has ever dealt with. >>justine: police have not yet released the names of the victims pending notification of their families. and what started as a fun night before christmas turned into another mass shooting in tennessee. this happened outside of a chat in the club just about midnight on christmas morning. people say nine people wounded during a fight with two rival gangs and just as that party was ending. police have not yet caught the shooter. five people died in a huge house fire in connecticut on sunday the mother is a prominent new york advertising executive along with a man that works for the family made at the stanford mention alive. the woman's three young children and her parents all died in this fire. a fire official says the first firefighters to the scene tried to reach the family members on the second floor with the intensive fire and the heat drove them back. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. it is 42

>>erica: good morning welcome back to the kron4 morning news we are taking a look at the bay bridge. riordan with some patchy fog around the bay area and temperatures are below the freezing mark. it is a cold start to the morning but not cold enough for the national weather service was issued a freeze morning. live looks like into the afternoon will see a mixture of clouds and sunshine high clouds with temperatures for the most part in the fifties around the bay. as you can lick your temperatures right outside the door we have some 30's and some 20 out there.

his bandwagon. >>justine: the san francisco fire fighters collected hundreds of toys for underprivileged children and the city. each year, one of the biggest supporters of the toy drive is a group of took clubs, however this year their donations were not welcome at the fire stations. jeff bush tells of how this all end up working out in the in. >>reporter: this is a san francisco tradition a group of strip clubs usually gather money into ways to get to the firefighters union for their annual toy drive usually the check is presented here on howard street at fire station number one. but this year the fire chief said no way would not allow the presentation to take place on the property. many adult clubs have been doing this for years. last year, they raise $17,000 which was enough to buy the toy drive a new van and lots of toys. the union says that the strippers are a big help year after year. >> they have been a
