an ongoing effort to let people know about neighborhood crime. today we are compiling yearly homicide numbers and we will focus in the east bay where the killings are on the rise. oakland has seen 102 murders in 2011 compared to 90 last year. coming up at 6:00 p.m., we will be breaking down the homicide numbers in vallejo, san francisco, and the south bay. >>catherine: a shooting in an east bay city has than one person to the hospital police are not releasing a lot of details yet. one woman told us that she talked with the shooting victim just moments after he was shot. >>reporter: a violent men morning shooting here outside of this apartment complex in concord has unraveled the nerves of one neighbor who witnessed the

aftermath of this violent incident. >> i was in my apartment and we heard four shots. then all of a sudden the guy comes running up the stairs in this 49ers jersey and he is like someone is trying to shoot me! we went right back into the apartment. we went and then we called 911. i notice that the victim was standing over there by the laundry room. they came over this since and shot across the parking lot and then reach back over the fence and went running. yes, i saw the guy in the red that got shot and he is a nice guy, he is a construction worker he is not in a game, and it

is ridiculous that this happened. this neighborhood is usually so quiet. we are all working people and we watch out for each other and this is very unusual. >>reporter: the shooting victim was taken away by ambulance to a local hospital, his condition unknown. some people in the area believe the shooting was a case of mistaken identity connected to gang activity in the area. >>reporter: police are looking for a man who tried to kidnap a nine year old boy in the montclair area by luring him into a vehicle with candy. this happened on monday, but they are hoping that they can give the word out that there is a predator in the area. it happened around 12:30 p.m. the boy was playing near his home. it is a pretty desolate area, not a lot of houses, a lot of trees, we have a nine year old boy and a stranger arkoses him with candy and tries to lure him into a

vehicle. the boy refused to go with the man who then grabbed him by the arm of the boy was able to get away. we have the latest on this case. >>reporter: this is where the attempted kidnapping took place. it is very secluded look at all of the trees that surround this place. it is a few mouse off of highway 13. that nine year old boy we were not able to get the make and model of the suspect car, but the little boy was able to give investigators something to work with. here is the description. >>reporter: because the police want to capture him as quickly as possible to prevent him from doing this to someone else, crime stoppers have gotten involved and wasted no time offering a $2,500 reward for

any information leading to his arrest. >>catherine: it has been a rough couple of days for travelers in sacramento airports. this morning the pilot called an in-flight emergency this is a picture of the plane on the tarmac. crews were looking for damage, the plane was headed to ontario california and the problem happened at 6:00 a.m.. the airport spokesperson had some details on what happened. and >> the plane landed safely without incident, there are no injuries the plane experienced a very minor damages. we err on the side of caution, the flight has been canceled and passengers are being rebuilt to other flights. >>catherine: a different southwest flight had problems two tires blew out during takeoff. no one was hurt. >>jacqueline: temperatures
