parts of the bay area. as we head into the afternoon we will see a little bit more sunshine in a mixture of clouds out there. temperatures in the upper 50s and 60s and into the overnight hours the have potential for some sprinkles in the north bay but you will see that the in your extended forecast. let us show exactly where the dance fog is located less than a quarter mile to santa rosa and this is all the way to navato and napa. we could see some pretty hazardous driving conditions for your entire stretch of highway 101. that fog is getting relatively tense around the coastline. but at least we have some pretty warm temperatures out there is faulty the we are not contending with freezing fog there in the upper '40's in santa rosa. those are some of the cooler spot. everyone else is enjoin '50s and upper 40's.

check on your morning commute. >> george: the morning erica, as we continue to track fog the fog advisory its issue for a number of the area bridges. among them is the bay bridge ride. the see a little more fog creeping into the shot as the camera in the upper right-hand corner starts to get a little pale. perhaps that is warranted, at first when we look at the bridge it did not seem as though the advisory had been warranted although we can't see me expand and is often time foggy there. your ride to the sad tale bridges under a fog advisory this morning but there is light traffic this morning as it has been every day so far this week. at the golden gate bridge we did not have a fog advisory but we see some fog coming across the span here as well. and fog advisories are into this for both the san mateo bridge

and the dunbarton. is not often that we see the fog advisory reach that far down. >> george: the maps are green indicating great speeds. and we will take a close look at the ride from the expressway up to the capitol expressway. your drive time is just 12 minutes. one stretch shows the speed dropping down to 40 mi. per hour between the 280 and the 880 interchange. otherwise of live to to 37 in is a great ride. 101 south bound is delay free as you head down to the toll plaza of the golden gate bridge from highway 37. >>justine: a reverence for an oakland homicide victim who donated his organs is

scheduled for friday afternoon. charles butler was shot a week ago today while driving in oakland. he was taken off life support the next day in his organs were donated to two men in need of transplants. one received his liver and the other received his pancreas and kidney both operations happened on christmas day. in viewing will be held at 1:00 p.m. in oakland. we're also getting new numbers on the number of homicides that are up in several bay area cities. we will start with what is happening in oakland, richmond and vallejo as they all saw an increase in murders compared to this time last year. in oakland, there were 12 more one year ago today and enriched and there were 4. san francisco stay the same with 50 and in vallejo there was one more homicide in 2010, the biggest increase was san jose it ranks as one of the safest big cities in the country this time murders almost double. san

jose has been 38 murders this year compared that to just 20-year. police said that most of those are gang- related. >> mark: concord police are looking for a moon--woman who struck a man with her vehicle. officers were on foot here at 98 and as an avenue. she is wanted on two felony warrants for possession and sale of drugs. when the officers approached her she drove onto a sidewalk she struck a man that just had, and not of the liquor store and she threw him 50 ft. he was taken to hospital with serious injuries that were not considered life- threatening she fled the scene and the police are still looking for this morning. >> mark: also in the oakland area suspect fleeing from the police. the suspect the

san francisco police were looking for will ramp into the police car. plainclothes officers responded to reports that the suspect had assaulted someone with a deadly weapon. police said the suspect appeared to recognize the officers and >>justine: a 19 year-old accused of shooting iraqi war veteran will face an attempted murder charge. some guests were in healing and interest oxide from balloons and drinking heavily and he was attacked in and take as he tried to began arguing with the soldiers a brother, then sullivan tried to stop the fight.

>>justine: officers issued written and verbal notice is asking protesters to leave the property. 14 protesters were issued citations for trespassing. one protester could not be cited because of lack of identification, they were arrested. >>mark: cartoon new laws that require states to give a property-tax revenue and 400 million in future revenue. the two statutes were signed by the legislature to help close the budget deficit. the league of cities claim the law violates a voter initiative that has barred

the legislature from seizing property tax revenue. if the supreme court rules in favor of the redevelopment agency's they will get that money back. that would mean the state of california would have a $1.7 billion hole to fill in the state budget. >>justine: will take a quick break, we have much more ahead.

>>mark: 20 people have been killed and 108 injured following a fire and several explosions. the fire destroyed 16 warehouses, a buddhist monastery and homes.

>>justine: north korean state television showed thousands of soldiers gathered in morning and carried images of his son, the chosen successor. the ceremony took place a day after a funeral procession moved through the streets. he died of a heart attack later this month. >>mark: will have a live update coming up. we have really thick fog outside. visibility is down nearly zero. the fog is bringing visibility to a quarter mile or less.

>>mark: a three alarm fire prompted evacuations of 15 homes. the fire broke out in the berkeley hills in the 1000 block of miller ave. during the fire fighting, a power line fell onto one of the fire engines and fire crews had to back away from that engine. >>craig: here is one of the homes damaged. there has not

been a lot of rain. there is concern that could happen again. investigators are expected out here to find out the cause.

>>erica: the read on this green indicates less than a quarter of a mile visibility. it looks like most of the bay area is dealing with fog. look at all of the great on the screen. oakland at this hour as well. we will be monitoring the fog throughout the morning. we have some pretty warm temperatures out there. we are almost 10 degrees warmer in some locations. into the afternoon we will see a mixture of upper 50s and low 60s with mostly cloudy conditions. we will see breaks of sunshine so anticipate redwood city getting up to 59 degrees.

turning our attention to future cast 4, we have potential for slight rain fall around the bay area. by 9:00 a.m. you could see light green indicating sprinkles just north of santa rosa. by 10:00 a.m. it will shift southward and become more widespread. by 2:00 p.m. across the golden gate and wicked gets frozen downtown san francisco, in oakland and hayward. for the most part clear and dry by 3:00 p.m.. the kron47 day around the bay forecast shows the temperatures on a warming trend. mostly cloudy conditions, to which the weekend more sunshine. take a look at tuesday and wednesday. we could see '60s. critical the inland and the lows will be sitting

in the upper thirties. >>george: some changes here, a fog advisor for the san mateo bridge has been lifted. >>george: before looking at the bay bridge, a fog advisory is in effect. over the last 30 minutes we have seen how the fog has encroached on the toll plaza. it is an easy ride across the span. the san mateo bridge has been problem free and now fog free. the golden gate bridge northbound and southbound looks pretty good, but pretty foggy as well. looking a year commute in

the east bay, this is the fog advisory that is in place for the dumbarton bridge. no longer in place for the san mateo bridge. we have fog advisor is in place for the carquinez bridge, interstate 80 and interstate 880. looking at the commute in the south bay, still an easy ride for 101, 85, to 80 and 17. no problems coming out of nevada as the head down to the golden gate bridge. the drive time is still under 25 minutes. >>justine: the san jose woman accused of dropping her toddler out of a second story window on christmas

day will have an arraignment today. she will not face attempted murder charges but instead, child abuse charges. the 22 month old survived the fall with only bombs and bruises. cortes' suffered broken bones after she jumped from the same window. she has a history of mental illness. >>mark: will tran is joining us with breaking news. >>mark: there is a man held inside an apartment complex

close to 30 points and now up only 19 points. we will follow the latest on wall street and bring you the opening bell coming up. >>justine: americans are hopeful that 2012 will be positive year for their families and the country. for the associated press poll shows that 62 percent of americans are optimistic that 2012 will bring good things for the nation. 78 percent are hopeful about the year if their family will have in 2012 as the nation's economics are tilting slightly positive. public expectations for the economy are at their highest point since the spring, after over one-third think there households' financial situation will improve or the next four months while 11 percent think it will get worse. 68 percent described 2011 as a bad year. that is more than twice as many as two said it

was a good year.

>>erica: the chp has issued a number of dense fog advisory's. it is a foggy morning but relatively warm. a lot of locations already in the '50s. as we head into the afternoon, upper 50s and low 60s. we do have the potential for rainfall. it looks like the rain chances will stay north of the golden gate bridge. as we zoom in on the visibility chart, a half mile visibility in santa rosa. 48 for those of even hackman bay. by 7:00 a.m. it looks

like will hold on to the '50s. a few 40's. as the advanced the clock to 10:00 a.m. widespread fifties and will gain a couple of degrees heading into the afternoon. in a little bit of green indicating '60s. the satellite and radar shows wet weather activity in the pacific northwest. a system is just north of eureka. we will see a lot of cloud cover cushion closer to us. for those of you heading into tahoe for the holiday weekend, it looks like we did actually see some rain and snow friday. a strong wind advisor for the greater lake tahoe area. it could be hazardous driving along those passes. saturday and sunday will bring mostly cloudy conditions. the overnight lows could get down to 10 degrees for

friday. your 7 day around the bay forecast shows temperatures in the '40's and 50's for the next two days and a mild start for the next work week with temperatures that could get into the upper 60s. >>george: the fog has resulted in a number of a fog divisor is issued for bay area bridges this morning. among them is the san francisco oakland bay bridge. on the lower deck near yerba buena island, caltrans has dispatched an electrician to check a report that the lights are out near yerba buena island.
