most locations are sitting in the '50s. as we head into the afternoon we have the potential for sprinkel. as we head into the overnight hours we will continue to seek hadji fault with temperatures in the '30's and 40's. fog tracker 4 shows an area of dense fog north of santa rosa. the majority of the dense fog is stretching along our east shore along the heart of the bay area and into the south bay as well. dense fog from redwood city through mountain view. a dense fog of vice we have not been issued. here is a look at temperatures outside the door. a warm start to the morning. warmer than where we were yesterday. here is a

look at your current temperatures. as we focus on the afternoon we will see temperatures very similar to yesterday, maybe a degree warmer in some locations. satellite and radar shows a lot of what other activities such acquitted in the pacific northwest. we have showers to the north. the cold front is moving closer to the bay area. mostly cloudy conditions and a chance for struggles into the afternoon. for the most

special advisers for the golden gate bridge. traffic is pretty light. >>justine: to bay area police forces are trading notes and hopes to stop a sexual assault suspect. police say the timing of the attacks, the manner and the clothing are just some of the similarities. alajandra cerball shows us this connection. >>alejandra: police are looking to see if there is a connection between this man and the rates in the mission. this is a sketch released previously by the san francisco police department. in each case the woman are attacked from behind. the victims describe the suspect as wearing a

black hoodie and dark jeans. oakland police do not believe this is the suspect they're looking for because there suspect is shorter and summer. and the other attack the suspect used a knife and is wearing a black ski masks. >>justine: a cold murder case cracked more than a decade after a 21 year-old tunnel woman was killed by her former boyfriend. he is now behind bars. raymond wong was found at sfo last week trying to sneak into the country using a fake passport. keith thompson has the story. >>reporter: 12 years ago a young mother and college student went missing. her body was discovered here, she was shot four times and dumped in the desert. police have always suspected her boyfriend who will now face murder charges with special

from a second story window remains in the hospital. she was scheduled to be arraigned yesterday but that has been postponed. police say after she threw a 22 month old son from the window, she jumped out after him. the child was barely heard the she broke bones in her feet. it has been another violent year in oakland. a total of 95 homicides for 2010 and even more in 2011. 107 homicides. that number includes five officer: involved shooting deaths. the oakland police chief laid out a plan targeting streets to reduce crime. >> we have been of the lead agency along with current officials, we meet quarterly with the chiefs of the agencies that patrol oakland. we are asking all

of our partners to join us if to make the patrol a priority. >>justine: in january police say they will release a detailed list of where violent crime happens. >>justine: law-enforcement does not want people shooting off guns. they're using a high-tech system to track down people who shoot. some of the different places include san francisco, richmond, oakland, redwood city in the east also. in one case in east hall also, the technology will allow dispatchers to pin for exactly where things are happening and where the gunfire is going off. they

will be able to send officers to the scene to investigate. >> if you shoot of a firearm to celebrate or in an act of aggression, we will know where you are and how many shots were fired. you could be held accountable for that. as we know, a new year's eve, sometimes people consume alcohol. alcohol and firearms is not a good mix. there are a large number of things that can go wrong when you bring out a firearm and to decide to use it. >>justine: police say the program will help them tell the difference between fireworks and gunfire. they also want to stay because of the program they have identified hot spots where gunfire is typically heard during celebrations. police patrol cars will be sent to those areas starting at 6:00 a.m.. other preparations are underway for new year's eve. restaurants and hotels are getting booked and other businesses are getting ready

would have been talking about is beginning to break up. no special advisory issued by the national weather service. as we head into the afternoon the big store will be the potential for sprinkles into the north bay. temperatures will be sitting in the '50s and '60s. overnight we will continue to seek patchy fog. turning our attention to fog tracker 4, at last check was already around santa rosa indicating less than a quarter of a mile visibility. the great indicates a clean 2-5 mi.. clear conditions for high 101. significant improvements with patchy fog in napa and vallejo area. if take a look at the coast line. the dense fog is sitting offshore. clear conditions along the peninsula but we still have limited visibility for 101 and td down into the south bay. we will continue to see clearing through the next couple of hours. if temperatures outside the door are on the warm side.
