morning we are taking a live look outside from our roof camera in san francisco showing us clear skies. you will checking with james who is tracking the weather and traffic this morning. >>james: we have a live look at the golden gate bridge, traffic is actually like. it is cold but not as cold as yesterday at this time. row have some fall out there in that is helping to give us some comfort in the north bay. you are not below freezing just yet. you are just above it. you are below

freezing in fairfield, it is currently 31 degrees there. it is a cold start just not as cold as yesterday. now here is the wider view on the satellite. this is the system we were watching yesterday's suspecting it would attract our way yesterday. now let me switch to storm tracker 4. you can see it more clearly. it is really like in nature. this is expected to continue to the south while any rain that approaches the bay area will skate. it will stay well to the west. our chance of rain diminish from 20% yesterday down to 10 percent today. that is what we are looking for in terms of the rain. we may get some sprinkles, but most of the rest of the bay area especially inland will see very little sprinkle out there. as for temperatures, we are in the 30's and '40's

for most of the bay area. by about 9:00 a.m. we will get rid of those 30's and '40's and '50's will be the temperatures. by noon we will see a little more sixties. in fact today will be very similar to yesterday. we are looking for our high temperatures to be in the upper 50s to low 60s. many of these areas in green will be showing '60s in the 6162 degree range. if you fly around the bay, you can see what we are talking about here. san francisco at 59 degrees, rich and at 59 degrees,--christmas is also at 59 degrees. here is a look at your seven day around the bay we have dry and sunny and mild weather straight into your martin king jr. holiday weekend. temperatures are holding steady in the low 60s each day. here is a check of

traffic beginning with the bay bridge. so far so good, there's no problem as you get from oakland across the bay bridge to san francisco. now we will jump to the golden gate bridge. we are looking at a pretty smooth ride here. more weather and traffic on the way. >>justine: the hunt for a serial arsonist is heating up as more than 50 fires have flared up around a bottle in the recent weeks and days. someone said the first fire over the weekend and more fires were set on monday. >>reporter: firefighters spent all day combing the woods of an open space in a bottle looking for flames or smoking embers to extinguish. this is the latest batch of fires set by a serial arsonist this time set deep in the woods. it is the third day that the

arsonist has eluded authorities. >> we do not have any positive identification with ribby juveniles, or a single person or multiple suspects. the police officers hustled out of the station at 830 p m heading out on patrol looking for anything suspicious. >> we were looking for anyone suspicious. >>reporter: the fire department called in extra resources, reserve units and contacted the firefighters to make sure they had enough coverage in case the arsonists struck again. some people were on call for 48 hours straight. while no one's property has been damaged in the fighters, people who live nearby are frightened and that trend may not last. >> it is very scary, we

just bought this house. i really stressed out i did not sleep at all to say the least. >>justine: we will have more on the story coming up his morning. and this morning over the police are looking for a driver that hit and killed a man late last night. police said a man was crossing the street at 73rd in bancroft avenue. the victim was taken to hospital with head injuries where he later died. police are asking for your help in finding the driver. a search for an escaped inmate in dublin has now come to an end. jose franco was called last night he was seen riding a bike and arrested without incident. they say franco was able to jump a wall at the jail after returning from a court appearance yesterday morning. he's been held for burglary charges. now one from the police in vallejo, the critics this robbery are showing up once again.

please do believe it is the same suspect that targeted people in the 200 block of neptune's court back in july 2010. the latest incident happened on friday. people were responding to an online at to purchase a car. reggie kumar to--tells us what happened next. >>reporter: an unsuspecting couple thought they were getting a good deal on the use honda accord on craig's list, the price was $3,800. neighbors said the men got out of the car with money in his hand he not on the door of a home on the street but no one answered police say the man then decided to call the seller and tell what was happening that no one was answering the door when the men did that the seller told him to go back to the door and knock. police say that is when the two men jumped out and one of them to is the what the man, he fell to the ground and the two men

>>justine: voting has already started in new hampshire the primary started today. mit romney nearly one the iowa caucus and is now leading in new hampshire. the former massachusetts governor left to self wide open to criticism on monday. he spoke at a breakfast at a local chamber of commerce and listen to what he said.

the cloud coverage is coming to us courtesy of this system rolling through. the bulk of it moves through the pacific northwest yesterday and last night. as it comes to california to see cloud coverage and reconditions this evening. the rain estate will far north.--the rain is staying well to our north. it looks like as this continues south we will stay dry. it will stay out of the bay area. we only have a 10 percent chance of that rain actually falling along the coast. temperatures as we saw on the map before we have 30's and '40's in the north bay and mostly for is around the rest of the bay area. by 9:00 a.m. we will see '40's and 50's with a few sixties. it is not until

look at the san mateo bridge highway 92 has three thin traffic out there. there are no reports of any problems here on the high rise section. and the golden gate shows traffic looks pretty easy this morning reported no problems by the chp all the way down into san francisco. that is your weather and your traffic now back to the news. >>justine: gas prices are back on the rise in the bay area and that is not a welcome sight. there is in the that the numbers. nationally the average $3.37 here in california is $3.69, and san francisco is paying a lot more at $3.74 and is $3.66 in san jose. we have more on what is behind this crime strike--hike.

the necessary items out of the trunk now the holiday road trips are behind you. >>justine: newbie tells this morning as joe says--joseph naso will be in court for a preliminary hearing. the 78 year old is representing himself for this capital case prosecutors so far have been silent about the case yet some details have emerged following it up a search of his home after a parole or violation. he is charged with killing these four women between 1977 and 1994. investigators found a list of 10 women including the four he is charged with killing and says that he kept news clippings of their slayings in a safety deposit box. and the man accused of raping three women in the

misty--mission district was in food-service worker for the san francisco unified school district. he was also a sanitation worker at a company called greene streets. he was arrested last week at the police received an anonymous tip he is facing numerous charges including attempted murder. he is due in court on wednesday. five people injured and now more than one dozen are without a home after a fire gutted several senior apartments in san jose. we covered this story yesterday morning. it happened and may for golden manor just before 2:00 p.m. on monday and it quickly spread to at least eight apartments. we do not know what started the fire but we do know that two people were badly burned including one elderly woman that remains in hospital today. rob fladeboe explains the help being given to the fire victims. >>reporter: this woman is among the dozen elderly people that were displaced. their apartments were here

in the south wing of mayfair golden manner. the manager says all are staying with a minute--staying with family members and getting help from the red cross. >> if they prefer to stay here, we have an available unit for emergencies. >>reporter: long time in its man bill lopez rescue and 80 year-old woman from this apartment and came back this morning to make sure that she was all right. >> apparently everyone was out except for one lady who was in the apartment and i went in guarantor the screen of her bedroom window and pulled her out. >>reporter: lopez is not the only one helping out other residents are checking in with food, clothing, and transportation. >> the seniors are older and they need help and sometimes it is hard because they are wanting for the

quite a surprise when a dog paddled up to his boat. >> you are out fishing for mackerel when you catch a dog off the florida siesta key. he did that actually catch the dog, the dog caught him. he lifted the dollar on to the kayak. >> i keep a camera running in case i catch the big one. >>reporter: he did catch the big when his name is barney. >> he was such a sweet dog i immediately saw the he was in distress. >>reporter: his legs were cut up, one paw was especially bad. hon gary and beast are extremely good swimmers. he says the dog was half a mile from shore

and struggling. he patted the dog and rub him but then thought would become from? >> my first thought was that he slipped off the back of the boat when the owner was not paying attention. >>reporter: so he approached the closest boat. barney's trip started as a walk. this 53 year-old mother of three was jogging with him on saturday afternoon when the police say this man lost control of his car as he rounded the bend. police say he was driving drunk and speeding away from another accident that he had caused the moments before when the dog owner was struck and killed bonnie bolted and ended up running across the key is the gulf. >> who knows what he was thinking he was trying to get away from that scene as fast as possible i would imagine. >>reporter: the dog was

taken to a vet, and the driver who killed the dog owner held back tears as his lawyer argued for bell saying that he would soon be a father. now he is facing charges ranging from dui to negligent manslaughter. bonnie's injuries were not serious. he's back with his family. he went for a walk, he went for a swim and he ended up in a lifeboat. >>justine: we should know that the accused driver in this case is being held on bail pending an arraignment as he will then enter his plea. we will take a live look outside at the one and only golden gate bridge and talk about the special anniversary coming up. our top story with weather and traffic are straight ahead.

help. now last night, flames started in ranch palos verdes. there is no word on what sparked the fires. they will continue to monitor the situation. in new this morning the national transportation safety board is holding a hearing today in washington d.c. on performance airplane safety. what they will be discussing is the september 16th crash at the reno national championship air race. that crash killed a pilot and 10 spectators and 70 people were hurt when the plane crashed into the stand. we have video of the aftermath of the crash. officials hope this will give the ntsb a better understanding of the regulations, protocols and practices of airshows. there were at 8 erases and airshow accidents last year. here is

>>george: we are tracking a hot spot on highway 92. take a look at the traffic maps. this is just west of interstate 280. it is tying up traffic between skyline boulevard and interstate 280. the westbound lanes are blocked. it is affecting mostly traffic headed down the hill. now, it is stopped and go on this last stretch of highway 92 trying to join with the peninsula traffic of interstate 284 continuing through the san mateo highland's down the highway 101. drop alternate route would be to take highway 1 north to pacifica. we may be able to get this accident cleared fairly quickly. so far, there are no reports of injuries. the bay bridge westbound ride looks good with no delays through the macarthur maze. the san
