the charges and whether his position as sheriff is in jeopardy. >> there are two charges, the charges of child endangerment and attempting to dissuade a witness. we really do not have the details of those. in regards to reduce waiting a witness, obviously the district attorney must have some evidence that the shares attempted to keep a neighbor who is the main source of the information from testifying. he has just been elected and he has a four year term. and if he is convicted of misdemeanor that does not mean he gets thrown out as the sheriff. that will be up to the voters four years from now. there is one mechanism that american set in motion to have him removed which would be in effect a travel for the board of supervisors.

>>pam: stay with us for continuing coverage of domestic abuse charges against the san francisco sheriff. we will update you on our newscast and our web site. a frightening story out of san francisco's sunset district. food delivery won't interrupt a violent home invasion and ends up getting attacked as well. it this was the scene last night police say the deliverymen and a woman inside the home were both a salted and both victims are in hospital with life- threatening injuries tonight. >>reporter: we are live at 20 if avenue and noriega, it is right there in the blue green house where the attack occurred. the woman was able to run over there across the street to the restaurant at this point, police have said they believe the motive for the attack was a home invasion robbery. mccaw it

happened thursday evening at the sunset district home, police say a 76 year-old woman was attacked inside of the home with a knife and a hammer. the 56 year-old woman came to deliver food and she too was attack but was able to get away. she ran around the corner to the ice house restaurant on noriega street. at that point she called the police. you can still see the blood on the floor of the restaurant. >> i see these people every day they walked to and from the store, they have businesses across the street they're very kind people very generous, they go about their business they say good morning. >>reporter: cracks this barber and his partner work right across the street from the restaurant and around the corner from the house. smith speculates the motive for the attack was money. >> why would anyone have anything with an elderly

woman like that it does not make any sense. >>reporter: you could still see bloodstains on the pavement from the second attack. we are back live at 20 avenue in noriega. police are not releasing the names of the victims but again both are suffering life- threatening injuries and both are hospitalized at this point. they believe the motive in the home invasion robbery and at this point there is at least one suspect or possibly more outstanding. reporting live in san francisco i and then term with kron4 news. >>pam: the man accused of sexually assaulting three women along the corridor pleaded not guilty today. he was arrested last week and been charged with 26 felonies out--felony counts p.m. in all three incidents in t--the suspect attack the witness from behind and then

assaulting them. we have our first look at the two robbery suspects that called the bomb scare and a freeway closure yesterday. these two are accused of robbing a san jose bankamerica. police say while they were getting away they crashed the car and they were caught. when questioned by the police they claim the car had a bomb in it that prompted authorities to close highway 85 stopping traffic for hours a serious-- stopping traffic for hours. tonight, the two men are in jail. no new details about the genie, an independent report on the utility company has been issued. grant lodes is here to explain what the report has to say. >>reporter: it was issued by the california public utilities commission and it takes a picture of pg&e being more concerned with making money rather than its

customers' safety. so, some troubling accusations and the alleged mishandling of customers' money. that is the real issue. pg&e apparently collected money from customers release $100 million over about 15 years and stick it on bonuses and profit for stockholders instead of gas safety and operations. this revelation comes after the deadly san bruno explosion back in september 2010. this latest report connects the dots between the explosion and the company's "focus on financial performance". >>pam: we have been hearing for a while that they're in the process of upgrading the pipeline system, to customers have to pay for that? >>reporter: roughly $2 per month through 2014. so

obviously this rubs a lot of customers the wrong way especially in the wake of this new information about how customers' money earmarked for safety was actually used to boost profits. >>pam: what is the fallout from this how pg&e handle this? >>reporter: there could be millions of dollars in fines down the road. the commission that issued the report recommends that the genie takes the hundreds of millions of dollars that should spent on customer safety, take that money and actually using for the upgrade instead of charging customers money now for upgrades. >>pam: the bay area is now less than 24 hours away from the 49ers first playoff game in nine years. the team will take on the new orleans saints tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at candlestick park. j.r. stone will cover the game tomorrow and has more on security preparations that are under way tonight. >>reporter: with the in the parking lot directly behind

>>pam: and former union city high school teacher has been arrested and accused of having sex with a student. the men you see here was a teacher at a high school and the police say they arrested him yesterday as he was on his way to me that under age girl. the relationship started last spring and on for months. police say there may be other victims. the teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with her student made her first court appearance today. she is a math teacher and facing multiple charges. police say

she committed sexual assault on a minor over a six month period and we take a closer look at the charges in what some are calling the extremely high amount of bail that was set in this case. >>reporter: the bill has been set at 1.8 $5 million for marie johnson a 40 year- old math teacher in livermore who is accused of having sex with a 14 year- old student. no cameras were allowed in the courtroom and johnson made her first appearance wearing a red jumpsuit handcuffed at the waist and only making eye contact with her public defender. the court postponed the arraignment so that she could get up to speed on the case as to why her bill is so high, she is charged with 24 counts of sexually assaulting a minor. >>reporter: a defendant over 21 committee oral copulation with a minor is charged

>>pam: johnson will be back in court to be arraigned next week. and in san jose teachers--the man that you see here appeared in court for the first time today. rob fladeboe tells you what happened. >>reporter: 35 year-old craig chandler sat stonefaced as he was a rangers. he listened quietly as his attorney successfully petitioned a court to seal police reports and other records in the case to ensure that he gets a fair trial. he has committed lewd acts on a child in the evergreen school district where he keeps--titis a combined second and third grade class. the deputy said there are multiple victims but they offered no information other age or gender only that the assault occurred on campus sometime between august and december of last year. police have

said there may be other victims. the chandler taught school there for nine years. he is scheduled to enter a formal plea later this month. >>pam: following his arraignment his attorney and prosecutor both spoke out about the high profile case concluded--. >> this is a very difficult position for him to be in, being in custody with this type of allegation and i will say that he denies these allegations and we will move for to vigorously defend him. >>pam: the court granted the defense what is known as a protective order. that includes family members of his alleged victims from attempting to make contact with them. a major data

that we are right. >>reporter: this afternoon the district attorney's spoke with reporters about the charges that he has decided to file against the shares. let us listen in to what he had to say. >> let me just say we feel very comfortable based on the evidence presented we have sufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. these are all misdemeanor charges so it could be one year in jail. there will be a three-year period of probation and there will be counseling that will be required. we are taking a complete look at the case right now we are working with the information that was presented to us and we will continue to move forward. >>reporter: here is a review

at the scene and we will bring you the latest developments on our newscast tonight at 8:00 p.m.. an attacker on the loose, two women in the hospital with life-threatening injuries tonight after a home invasion. it happened last night in san francisco sunset district. tonight than herman joins us live with the latest on the investigation. >>reporter: we are at 20 it and noriega and a very violent attacker is still on the loose tonight responsible for attacking two women at that home right over there. friday afternoon, you could still spot blood stains on the stairs of the sunset district home. thursday evening the 76 year-old woman who lives here was attacked with a knife and a hammer is during what police say was a home invasion robberies. with the suspect of inside, a 56 year old woman came to deliver food and she too was attacked. but she was able to get away. although believing she ran around the corner to

was unconscious. betty who is now 80 years old said that she broke up with him because she was afraid of him. tonight we are inching closer to the 49ers playoff game that is tomorrow afternoon at candlestick park. already, we have seen beef up security measures. today as vendors and satellite trucks made their way into the stadium security teams surged underneath and inside of their vehicles before they were allowed to enter. >>reporter: sergeant michael of the san francisco police department says that there will be a 25% increase of the amount officers at the playoff game tomorrow when the 49ers take on the saints. you may remember the scene back and august after violence erupted after a 49ers preseason game between the oakland raiders. this is video of what look like after the preceding day
