opening day on wall street. the dow briefly touched the 13,000 market few times during the day yesterday. the dow jones industrial average doubling from the low point under the 6500 market the middle of 2009 ended now flirting once again with 13,000. we will bring you the numbers on wall street drop morning.

>>mark: tonight will be the 20th in debate between republican presidential candidates. santorum is looking for another up said mitt romney is looking to keep his lead rival at bay. arizona and michigan are holding primaries this coming tuesday. another hot spot of the bay bridge. >>george: install was reported at top of the hour of the westbound direction. since the drive times already running 16 minutes of the west on direction. the cycle rate is still pretty good. it is not nearly as low as it was yesterday. it is possible that we could see somewhat better backup today.

if you are headed out the door you are already caught in a 16 minute wait. the backup is still growing on the ramp from 880. on the san mateo bridge highway 92 we will see a good commute both eastbound and westbound traffic volumes are building the the drive times are still running 13 minutes. 101 into the san mateo bridge, an easy ride in both directions. let's have to the weather center and check in with james. >>james: we're going to take a look at current conditions. high clouds but otherwise visibility is pretty good. here is where temperatures are all around the bay.

already we are off to a warmer start did yesterday. here is what fog tracker 4 is showing us on our visibility map. the north bay is much better than yesterday. we have some fall along the peninsula coastline but it is not a factor. in general, low-mid-70s for the afternoon. mid-70s in san jose. los gatos will comment at 70. a lot of the san ramon valley will be right at 75- 76.

first >>mark: we're continuing to follow a story out of san francisco. here is where the fire is. will tran is joining us now with more information. is the fire out? >> in yes. here is video that i shot around 5:15 a.m.. the transformer was fully engulfed in flames. at this point they do not know what caused the transformer to burst like that. i can tell you that power has been restored according to pg&e. according to pg&e they do not believe there will be able to restore full power of the short section of the street until possibly dinner time tonight.

there are no injuries. >> the shooting appeared to be inside of the basketball court area.

he was located behind the center in the park. this park has a community center where young kids go to. obviously you have to try and the careful with where you are at. this was an unfortunate incident. >>mark: police say they have no indication whether or not the shooting was gang- related. we're watching a hot spot. a big backup after an earlier stall on the bay bridge.

in early stalls that metering lights were triggered at 6:00 a.m.. traffic is already backing up towards the macarthur maze. >>mark: sitting in that backup is costing people time via the more money as the price of gasoline continues to climb. the national average up to $3.57 a gallon. the state average is now up to $4.40.

>>george: we're tracking a hot spot on the bay bridge westbound. we had a tremendous backup yesterday is that things start badly this morning because of an early stock. the lights are cycling at a very quickly.

cars are not city as metering lights for very long. they are really trying to move this back up al from the bay bridge toll plaza. a look at your other bridges as we continue on. the ride on 92 is still a little lighter than usual. no problems were delays. , golden gate is a delay free but the volume is up since our last track.

the south bay freeways, we're picking up the first slowdowns on a one-to-one northbound but still not a bad ride with a 13 minute drive time for the montague expressway from the capitol expressway. james fletcher is telling me that it is going to get warmer. sunrise is five minutes from now.

>>mark: an american journalist has been killed in the fighting in syria. she was killed along with a french journalist when syrian government forces shelled a building in homes. she was from new york and worked for the sunday times for 20 years. she lost her eyes when she was ambushed while covering the war in shriveled up. a virginia man suspected of plotting to blow up a bomb inside the u.s. capital is expected back in court today. he was arrested friday after a yearlong fbi sting. they say he volunteered to where a suicide best. agents outfitted it with explosives. documents say he was a moroccan native in the u.s. legally.

ipad 3. at the lower price they could steal away the better from amazon. ford's a noble was selling only a minute tablet for $250, and now is offering in a gigabyte model. that matches the kindle fire in memory, specks in price. the $50 difference was really hurting sales of the nook tablet. barnes and noble hopes this will help them compete with the amazon kindle fire fifth forms of also announced a $30 price drop for the color e-reader which will now cost one of the $69. this device is a lot like the nook tablet but without the bells and whistles. off i would like to hear from you. does this price drop increase your interest or is it too little too late for barnes and noble?
