>>pam: and charles clifford is live at sfo with details on exactly what happened. >>charles: right now you are looking at a live picture from sfo. things have gotten back to normal but earlier today all traffic was stopped. there was a large crowd of people outside of terminal 1. a-10 flights were delayed, impacting about 1200 people. there are still lingering in delays. the report says those delays will last until 6:00 p.m.. this started with an elderly woman trying to catch her flight. according to an airport spokesperson, around 11:16 a.m. eight tsa agents spotted an unusual device in several metallic cylinder is inside of a piece of luggage. the bag belonged to an elderly woman in a wheelchair going through security. the agents questioned her about the contents.

>>pam: with 43 shootings in the last eight days, two of which in the last 12 hours, the question remains what are police doing about all of this? dan kerman has been speaking with police and is joining us live from oakland police headquarters. >>dan: police are well aware that gun violence is on the increase, especially in the last several days. they are taking steps to address that according to them. first, they say they have identified hot spots where the latest shootings have happened. they have shifted resources into those areas. they say that is a part of the 100 block plant. they're adding patrols and adding more officers. more officers in both locations. they do say, even though gun violence is on the upswing, over all for january and february crime has been reduced since the plan has gone into effect.

on new year's eve. terisa estacio has more. >>terisa: here at the san francisco court house, the sheriff has asked for the case against him to move as quickly as possible. he says he wants to prove his innocence so that he can move on with his life personally and professionally. on this first day of trial, several legal matters dominated the day. one key issue focus on the videotape. these are images taken from the videotape. they show the wife of mirkirimi with a bruised arm. another image taken from the videotape shows a visibly upset chilly autumn. prosecutors say it is vital to allow the entire videotape capturing these images to be admitted as evidence of the crime mirkirimi committed. this is the defense is opposed to allowing the videotape. outside court, mirkirimi talked about spending time with his son. a judge had previously barred him from seeing his toddler but that recently changed.

announcer: this is the kron4 news at 5:30 p.m.. >>pam: at 5:30 p.m., at the norovirus outbreak is hitting some parts of the bay area harder than others. as a result some schools and senior centers shut down the three quickly everything. reggie kumar is live in the studio it has a breakdown. >>reggie: norovirus is extremely contagious. it causes vomiting, diarrhea and upset stomach. it is spread from person to person by food, water and touching contaminated services -- surfaces. so far there are 54 confirmed cases of gastrointestinal all this. 29 schools reported

outbreaks. school officials have to thoroughly clean each campus. 25 lawn care term facilities and nursing homes reported the illness. in alameda county there are reports of three times the number of norovirus cases this year compared to last. health officials did not have specific numbers but they did state elementary schools and one day care center at outbreaks as well as some skilled nursing facilities. in san mateo county, six cases discovered. this calls for clean, but not close. in santa clara the reported 19 cases of the virus. for schools and day care centers had students and kids the diagnosed with the illness. in solano county there were five cases reported from assisted living facilities. surprisingly, no outbreaks in schools but some students have come down with a

the 54 year-old from san leandro is a registered sex offender. police say he enters local bookstores and then it stands behind the female shoppers. police say that it improperly touches them. video surveillance of him fondling multiple unknown victims has been recovered. to help police identify them, they are urging and the victims to contact them. he is currently in police custody. the teacher livermore was charged with sexually abusing a young student and pleaded not guilty in court today. johnson taught math agra i school in livermore. police say she sexually assaulting a 14 year-old male student. before today's she entered a not guilty plea to 24 felony counts including all of full sexual intercourse with a minor in performing lewd acts of a child. the alleged victim was not 15 told a high-school coach that he was the victim of repeated molestation. investigators say the
