>>pam: at 6:00 p.m., two bay area school districts are facing layoffs and massive budget cuts. hundreds of jobs online and the millions at stake. >> californians should be ashamed. it is time that everyone says enough! >>pam: the future of more than four to 50 teachers, administrators and staff hangs in the balance while pleasanton could be forced to make more than $5 million in cuts. kron4 has live team coverage on the decisions being made to fix these troubled school districts. >>pam: hundreds of school positions are on the line across the bay area. we have team coverage of the meetings for the school cuts. reggie kumar is in pleasanton with the latest on that school district's dilemma. we begin in san francisco with terisa estacio. she is live with details on

possible cuts in the san francisco unified school district. >>terisa: it is a dire situation in san francisco. the meeting to discuss these cuts is getting underway right now. the capacity in the room is 136. officials expect standing room only. there are looking at a $35 million deficit next school year. $83 million of the deficit will be the following year, all of this because they are not getting enough money from the state. earlier tonight, i spoke with the district supervisor who says looking at all of these cuts and looking at cutting for the 80 positions is just outrageous. >> i am absolutely disgusted with the state of california and where we are in terms of supporting public education. we are having to make horrible cuts and it seems every year, we do this and every year it seems to get worse.

class sizes are outrageous. it is not uncommon to find class sizes in the 35-40 range. how are you supposed to educate children? this time that everyone says enough! >>terisa: the superintendent says they're trying to protect certain jobs but right now everything is on the table. we will cover this story and have the latest coming up at the kron4 news at 8:00 p.m.. >>pam: presence in schools are facing millions of possible cuts. reggie kumar is following the latest developments there. >>reggie: the district is expecting a lot of heated parents inside this building. the school board is projecting a $5.5 million

proposed budget deficit if the governor's tax initiative does not pass before voters in november. take a look at some of the proposed cuts they say 75 full-time positions including teachers, custodians and other staff members could be eliminated. seven percent of employees, the students per teacher ratio will also grow from a size of 25-1 to 22-1. john larsen says of this is the fifth year they have had to make cuts. >> their mortgage payments, children in school, we certainly do not want to lose anyone but we also understand it they have lives. >> preliminary pink slips will go out on march 15th. the meeting here starts at 7:00 p.m.. >>pam: drastic cuts coming to the walnut creek police department. several programs will be
