>>mark: in the east bay, a fatal accident. >>darya: lanes are block the and will tran have the latest from the scene. >>will: you can see a tow truck getting ready to remove one of the cars. i have learned that all lanes should be cleared by 6:30 a.m.. according to the chp this happened at around 4:20 a.m., a tree fell down on blocking both lanes of highway 13 from berkeley to oakland. one driver came along and did not see the tree, he slammed into the tree. we understand that the driver of one of the cars was killed in the accident. the passenger was taken to a hospital. a second car came along, we are not sure if the second car slammed into the first car or if the driver of that car slammed into the tree

but as far as we know only one a fatal accident. the coroner's office is on the scene. the tree trunk is gone, you can see the degree on the side of the road, once that is pushed to the side, the road should reopen. the other direction is northbound 13. it is not being affected at all. you can see that the chp officers are blocking of any access to the accident. their position is right around the hearth boulevard exit. you can see them getting off the freeway. they're telling them to avoid the scene. but according to the chp this is not the commute direction, when they get off the freeway, they are right there. it is not a problem. it is not a big inconvenience.

a bigger concern is a report of another tree that could be infringing on the right hand lane northbound at park boulevard and redwood road at 35th, it is the next exit south. i have had some reports that the right lane has been shut down. some reports that cars are swerving to avoid the tree that is either in the lanes or any nearer. being in the commute direction and could create a bigger problem southbound accident has so far.

as >> we had a person that was struck by a vehicle traveling on south 13. reports indicate that the first vehicle which was a four-door sedan was traveling through the area and collided into a downed trees. those persons survived in that crash and pulled over to the center divider and got out of the vehicle and attempted to make it over to the right shoulder. shortly after making it to the right shoulder, a second vehicle traveling in the area skylighted into the tree as well, the vehicle went airborne and destructive driver of the first vehicle. the driver of the first vehicle sustained fatal injuries. the other passengers were injured but they do not appear to be life- threatening injuries.
