a messy one. you can see widespread light rain at the moment, as we push in, we'll give you a quick tour to the east bay. you're going to see widespread green. a lot of it is actually coming down as minor drizzle. trace amounts is really all they're reporting here at the reporting stations like condor. seeing nothing but trace amounts amounts. you may run into drizzle, but it's not all that terrible just yet. martinez down to dublin, you will see it's continuing. 680 all the way down toward fremont. you will see light conditions. same for the livermore valley. the east shore, not bad. ride from oakland past fremont looking good. as you head out toward

the wind. it's really gusting. i know there's a wind advisory in effect, but so far it has been dry out here. i can't believe it's going to be too long before we see rain coming down here at the toll plaza. >> looks like things are moving right now. let's find out if there are any hot spots out there for your tuesday morning commute. good morning. we don't have any hot spots or major accidents to stop you around the bay area, but jackie did mention the area around the bay bridge this morning. fortunately we're seeing good conditions, especially back at the toll plaza. no waits to get in your way. you will see good conditions here. despite the camera shaking, we're seeing windy conditions, but no specific advisory has been issued just yet. southbound 101, still great conditions in san francisco. you will see a lot

between cars, not a single accident to report coming out of the bay. in fact, looks like your drive time is 25 minutes into san francisco this morning. daredaria. 6:03, story out of morgan hill since the 15-year-old girl has been missing. the search will be back at 8:006 a.m. led by the class kids foundation. they will be looking for sierra lamar. as you know, she was last seen trying to go to her school bus. she left the house and was seen by her family. she was then not seen at the school bus which is located about a quarter mile from her home. crews found her cell phone and they also found a bag with clothes neatly folded inside. that was in two locations near her home. you can see it's a very rural area with big fields and that's where these items were found. this is video from the search as it's happening through the

week. authorities are pouring over her cell phone and laptop computer records, but they have yet to figure out if she ran away or was abducted. we'll be following the morning search in morgan hill. >> as you can see, volunteers will gather at burnett elementary. many showed up preparing for the search that will last until sunday, rain or shine. mark class has helped on previous searches, including last year for the missing nurse. there will be an officer with the sheriff's department on hand to help answer any questions the volunteers may have. sierra's mother called class last week to see if he could help. the search will go from 8:00 until 1:00 in the afternoon. volunteers are told to dress warm because it will be cold

more now on the man suspected of killing five people in a home in san francisco. as it turns out, he wasn't even supposed to be in the united states at the time. here's video of ben luck's arrest on wednesday. this video was shot by a neighbor and posted on you tube. you see the swat officers rounding the corner. as the swat team was called in to bring luck into custody. luck was supposed to have been deported back to his home country of vietnam in 2006 after luck was convicted of robbing a chinese restaurant and a wholesale business in san jose. he was arrested in 1996 and sentenced to more than 11 years in prison. immigration and customs enforcement agents took luck into custody after he was released. he completed 8 years of that sentence. that's when an immigration judge ordered him removed from the united states, but the vietnamese government never provided the documents needed

to process his removal from the country. and people facing deportation cannot be held more than 180 days, so i.c.e. had to release luck in 2006. so now the names of the five victims have been released. three female, two of them male between the ages of 30 and 65. we'll watching live pictures coming to us out of colorado where a 3,000-acre wildfire is to blame for the death of one person. you can see that used to be a house. smoldering ground. still flames at this hour and smoke as well. hundredshundreds of people have been evacuated. as we watch those pictures, you can see so much area has been destroyed. i will keep you posted. and new this morning while you were sleeping a strong earthquake has shaken northern

girls. it happened yesterday afternoon. he tried to get them in the car. they refused and told the school. a message was sent out to the parents. in oakland, a person was shot while driving and hit two parked cars. this happened in the 1,000 block of 54th street. and taken to the hospital and injuries are not life-threatening. >> bay area is the second most densely populated area in the country with more than 6200 people per square mile. this is all new information coming to us from the census bureau. l.a. is number one. we will have the latest of the timing of the storm moving through. we will let you know what to expect for the rest of the week. here is the san mate day yo bridge. this -- san mateo bridge. and it is a little windy now. :ow

. welcome back. 6:15 is the time right now. we are tracking a storm for you that has arrived on cue. pretty widespread. we are starting to see some of the heavier downpours happeningle and still pretty spotty. when will they get the more extreme downpours. >> 2:00 none. north bay and the up are half of the rest of the bay. northeast bay and northeast peninsula getting the heavy rain. then it will be widespread by 5:00 p.m. that will be the timeframe we are focusing on and illustrate that for you. right now storm tracker 4 showing widespread moisture with pockets coming down in the form of rain. we will begin the tour in the east bay. hit or miss showers along highway four out to antioch down to 680 and through the valley and pockets here of

drizzle at times. maybe a quick sprinkle. then you are out of it. none coming down in substantial form but it is out will. same story holds through for the 580 interchange and out towards livermore. continues to be wet. bright spot for the east bay happens to be the shoreline down the nimitz freeway and looking at an easy ride. san jose, the south bay dry commute. good moat. peninsula gets dry. and we have light sprinkles out there along the coastline. for san francisco we are looking good. different story for north bay. in marin county. right around san rafael, we are looking at the possibility of heavier rain. we will push in and use the magnifying glass and focus in on san rafael and how heavy it is coming down at the moment. we will get a sample right in

the middle of the yellow. 5/100th of an inch per hour. falling at least in that little bit of wet weather that we are seeing there in yellow. the rest of the green showing light rain. trace amounts or 1/00th of an inch and that holds true for the rest. north of santa rosa, it is beginning to take shape and by the noon hour, that heavy wet weather will begin to center itself over the north bay. here it is. that's what we saw on the radar. heavier rain north of santa rosa. we will push the clock to noontime. it engulfs the north bay. advancing the clock to about five in the evening. just in time for the evening commute. widespread, moderate to heavy rain. look for the evening commute to take a little longer as a result of that. east bay, south bay, it is beginning to break up in the north bay and this will be with us through the overnight hours.

takes us all the way to 6:00 for the bulk of us to push out and showers on the back side. that's what we will deal with. scattered showers here and there and put a chance of it there on wednesday. mostly in the morning. clear out better for you in the afternoon. thursday looking pretty good. friday another chance of wet weather and in the evening time as we work our way into saturday. that's the way the weather looks this morning. we get a check of traffic. good morning to you. >> so far in the traffic center not any major hot spots or accidents. here at the bridge span you will see traffic moving well into san francisco and back at the toll plaza stretching past the east parking lot. good to go in both directions of highway 92. now the camera is shaking around. we don't have special traffic advisory issued just yet. no problems on the approach. and this ride is 14 minutes from end to end. quick look at the conditions. golden gate bridge is heavier

volume of traffic approaching san francisco. wet roadways here. may need to use windshield wipers once or twice. we have red developing on the screen. that is in san jose, right around north 13th street. we have a minor accident and speeds have dropped down to just 35 miles per hour. as we take it up to the east pay for you, starting to see more slowing highway coming out of antioch. and no accidents there and westbound 24 looks good and starting to see slowing down the freeway. darya? we will continue to follow the developments about the killing of trayvon martin. trayvon's parents are headed to washington d.c. to attend a forum on racial profiling and hate crime issues. they are blaming police for leaking information about their son. it is now known that trayvon

was suspended from school the week before his death. he was suspended for having marijuana in his backpack. and the fight he had with the man who shot and killed him. that man, george zimmerman, and they have portrayed trayvon as the aggressor. >> they say the police are trying to dome mondayize their son. >> sit -- demonize their son. >> slander my son and listen to not arresting the murderer of my son. >> i know i cannot bring my baby back. but i am sure going to make changes so that this does not happen to another family. the sanford police department insists there were no authorized releases of new information. however, they acknowledge there may have been a leak. we are waiting for the opening bell on wall street.

futures are lower. it is 6:30. and after comments from ben bernanke showed support for the fed from the economy. and dow went soaring yesterday. home price index coming out for the month of january. home prices falling in the u.s. for the fifth straight month in 16 of the 19 u.s. cities monitored. steepest declines here in san francisco and in atlanta and portland, prices did rise in phoenixle and d.c. waiting for the confidence numbers to come out. and they are down slightly. we will be right back as the kron 4 news continues. we are tracking the storm as the rain showers are starting to pick up a little bit at the golden gate bridge. and once we are getting ready for wind and rain, especially this afternoon.

. welcome back, it is 6:25. we are looking at storm tracker 4 and the showers are generally light right now. although, peek just above san rafael, a that is novato they are getting it and out by firefield, you can see a wider patch of yellow. new this morning, al jazeera saying they will not air the video that shows attacks on shoulders in a jewish school in southwestern france from the killer's point of view recorded by the killer. french president sarkozy had urged al jazeera not to air footage. the suspect was killed last week after a long standoff with police. here is video of the standoff. they received the footage on an usb drive that was sent in a letter to the al jazeera's

paris office. now we focus on 2012, republican presidential hopeful mitt romney is in the bay area. here is the video from yesterday. protestors were outside a fundraiser in redwood city where the fundraiser was. they are upset with romney because they claim he represents the wealthy and not the working class. fellow gop hopeful rick santorum is making headlines for this angry, testy confrontation with a new york times reporter. it happened over the weekend where santorum. where he is campaigning in wisconsin in the video and where this happened. but it is at an event where the reporter asked him about a comment. he called romney the worse republican in the country to run for president especially when it comes to healthcare. well santorum refused to answer any questions about the comment when he was repeatedly asked by the reporter. however, in a second interview,

he said he would consider serving as romney's running mate. >> i have been saying it at every speech. quit distorting our word. if i see it, it is bleep. >> come on, man, what are you doing. >> santorum defended his outburst saying if you haven't cursed out new york times reporter during the campaign. you are not a real republican. he is set to arrive in the bay area later this week. the ticket for the private fundraising event that he is holding in a home in alamo. they rang from $125 all the way to $2,500. >> we will have more. and we will have the latest on the big stories and the storm moving in after the break. we will keep our eyes on wall street after a big day yesterday.

look at san jose down to the south, they are try. >> that's what we ex he effected. we expected it to start in the south bay and it will take awhile to encompass the south bay as well. this is where the rain is at the moment and makes the horseshoe pattern. up along the coast and down along the east bay. we will push in. start in the east bay. and we see rain. continues to rain along highway four. delta seeing some weather. light this time. not substantial rain. and most of it is coming down in the form of mist and drizzle. there is a lot of moisture there. and highway four, martinez seeing it. and wet at times. the rain is picking up a little bit down near san ramon and livermore and pleasant ton we are seeing light trace amounts and there is moisture out there. don't be surprised if you run into it especially in 580 in

livermore and 680. the east shore of the bay, from the bay bridge, it looks like all the way down. nimitz freeway ride into fremont looks dry and dry as well. and cupertino and all the locations showing dry right now. not seeing a whole lot until you get up to north of san francisco. just passed maybe the camel -- candlestick park through the heart of the city. and maybe it will be clear. ocean beach, pacifica, daly city. could be seeing light rain at any moment. look up at the left. more wet weather inbound. all of this stuff traveling from east to west. sliding to the north. san rafael sandwiched between a couple of pockets. we took a sample of this not too long ago. it is falling 100th of an inch and we see all the way up to santa rosa light rain up to

101. and napa valley is seeing light rain and none of the stuff is sub standing. the heavier rainfall is north of santa rosa. we expect it to make its way down noontime and over the north bay and the rest of the bay here during the course of the day. here is what future cast has. from 6:00 a.m. all the way to 6:00 p.m. you will see what we are expecting over the course of the day. 3/10th of an inch to two and a half around santa rosa. now i will kick the clock forward more to 6:00 a.m. wednesday morning. so the next 12 hours, by the time it is all said and done we are looking for possibly upwards of 3-inches in the north bay hills. two in san rafael. and in fremont and almost inch and a half counsel in san jose. it as decent rainmaker for us. this is around the bay. keep the wet weather pattern in the mix for the week. we will have breaks here and

there. thursday is a good day. maybe the last half of wednesday. thursday will be nice. friday mostly dry until the evening hours. then another system that will keep us wet through the day on saturday and sunday we will be back to a partly cloudy forecast. we will find out the latest with traffic. good morning, erica. first hot spot of the morning. it is in the bay. and northbound 101 and story road. we have this blocking the number 1 lane. it is back ups passed the interchange. and speed drop down to 25 miles an hour. and some of the slowest spots. i have been checking with the chp. no estimated time of when the lane will be reopening. we will look at the some of the bridges around the bay area. no problems on the bay bridge span and the metering light are on at the toll plaza and typical day to day delays.

no major problems to account for here. traffic is building out towards foster city and live look here at the golden gate bridge bridge. and more on -- golden gate bridge. and still pretty decent conditions coming out of marin county and the ride is 24 minutes out of novato to city limits. >> darya. >> thank you. >> following this out of morgan hill is the renewed search for the 15-year-old girl who is missing since march 16th. so, there will be a new search at 8:00 this morning. hour and a half from now with volunteers led by the klaas kids foundation. they will fan outlooking for sierra. this is before she -- sierra lamar. and this is a quarter mile from her home. crews found her cellphone and bag of her clothes needly folded inside it in fields. two different locations near her home. this is video of search efforts

from last week. they will be out there again this morning looking for any evidence or any signs of her. and they are also pouring through cellphone records. and her laptop computer. investigators haven't figured out whether she ran away or was abducted. they are in morgan hill preparing for the search. volunteers gather here and fan out. and investigators from the santa clara sheriff's department plan to retrace their steps. they are hoping that now it is more than a week. maybe they know something. maybe they remember something to help them find sierra. i had a chance to speak to the spokesman and why they continue to call it a missing person's case when they believe she was abducted. >> they work on facts and don't speculate. right now there is no information, no evidence to

. good morning from the kron 4 newsroom. we are learned there are delays right now at sfo because of all the bad weather out there. sfo is predicting arriving flights are on average of four hours late. you should check with the carrier before you travel today. that is from our kron 4 newsroom. we will talk about weather. this is 6:45. this is what we see on the radar. it is light rain on the east bay and beginning to encroach in san francisco as well. push in and get a better idea of what we are getting in.

widespread from martinez all the way out to antioch and pleasanton seeing rain and 580. all those arteries impacted by light rain. it is still more like a drizzle. it is not steady just yet. we expect the afternoon, it will start happening. the nimitz frayway ride passed fremont. dry except for bits of moisture popping out near san leandro and this south bay looking good. even though upper portions of san jose is seeing the height rain come in. the peninsula is doing okay and we stretch it out from the palo alto all the way up to san francisco. so far so good. once you hit the city, you stand the possibility of seeing drizzle out there. it is i am packing downtown all

the way up to the marina and out to ocean beach and across the golden gate bridge, you see wet weather out there. we will push in tighter here. i want to close in on what we are seeing out here in san rafael and we have moderate rain. see how much rain is coming in with the system. we will target the yellow. it is coming in at 11/100th of an inch. and you can expect the rain to be falling at the same rate. it is light rain for the areas in darker green and then it picks up in intensity as you make your way over to the top of san rafael. 101 could get wetter for you where 580 and 101 merge. it shows we have isn't to the north and napa seeing light to moderate rain. most of what we are seeing out there and reported to us by viewers is more of a drizzle than anything else. >> here is a quick look at

future cast four. we will walk you through the day. it is rain widespread with heavier amounts on the radar. >> advancing the clock now to noon, most of the heavy rain still can find the golden gate bridge and we are feeling with light rain throughout much of the bay area. and for the evening commute, it could be a wet one with rain am could go down heavy in every portion of the bay. be ready as you head home from work. and dealing with heavy amounts in the east bay and south bay. you can see at the hour in the north bay and continue to push its way through as we push through the overnight hours. we have started showers in the mc. that's the way it is going to play. and the seven-day forecast will show us what it is like beyond that. and the first half. >> little bit better and looking good. give us a chance to dry out. for the most part it is friday evening into saturday and wet

weather rolling through. sunday not bad and partly cloudy skies. finding out about hot spots. we have a potential hot spot and it is in the south bay. northbound 101 around story road. minor car crash. injuries have been reported. one of the cars has flipped over and it is on the roof. the number 1 lane is blocked. we did see speeds understand 20 miles an hour. it looks like we have made improvements and speeds averaging 35 to 40 miles an hour. if this is your commute. allow yourself extra time. on to the bridges. not it tracking any hot spots there. and the span moves well into san francisco. back at the toll plaza, the metering lights are active. and seeing it passed the east lot. over the san mateo bridge, it looks good. does look like a high wind advisory has been issued. you can see the message line

has been active of the the camera shaking -- has been active. the camera shaking around a bit. it shows southbound 101 is a smooth and easy ride out of the north bay. as for public transit, you are good to go with bart and cal tran this morning. >> modest gains for the industrial average. up 1 points after the big rally and the dow was up over 160 points as we had ben where nan key insuring us with the u.s. economy. >> other stories we are following right now. former giants' employee will be going to jail for embezzling from the team. she was she must pay back the club more than $1 million. she admitted to embezzling $2.2 million from the team and its employees. >> 6:50 is the time right now.
