traffic was slow to crawl on highway 581 and on the county prison bus caught fire. deputies were taking inmates back to the santa rita jail. the bus engine caught fire somehow and 22 inmates had to be evacuated on the side of the road when the bus filled with smoke. >> no problems with inmates. they are taken off the bus and watched by the deputies. we do training for these kind of situations and the inmates were complimentary of the deputies on how quickly they got them off. >> one deputy did suffer smoke inhalation and the inmates were taken to the jail on the different thoughts. the founder of medical marijuana training school in oakland is stepping down. federal agents raided it monday and the school teaches people how to cultivate and history of medical marijuana. he says he's leaving the school because of legal concerns and

the recent well-documented breakdown of an airline pilot and the removal of the flight attendant from another plane has left people wondering what's wrong with airline employees. but it's not just airline workers. allison cossack has more on why a lot of workers in a lot of industries are getting stressed out. >> we all know the labor market has taken up eating the last few years and while the people who have managed to hold onto their jobs may have the nature of financial security, they are suffering in other ways, mainly from work- related stress. workers across various industries are stressed out. so much so that stress is affecting their work behavior and productivity. more than half of the respondents say that stress made it harder for them to focus on tasks. more than 20% said they made more errors or missed deadlines and another 15% have conflicts

with coworkers. stress can also wear away at overall worker morale. employees can hang onto grudges and blame another for short comings and mistakes, while some turn on weaker and more for mobile colleagues all of which can have nasty results. part of the problem is that overworked employees won't say that they are stressed. bosses need to be aware in order to maintain the balance work environment. psychologists suggest sometimes hitting the pause button and taking the break can be good for productivity. >> here's stanley roberts to come some people behaving badly. >> walking upon -- watching it on tv talking about zombie drivers. >> according to the office of traffic safety, zombies do exist and they may be driving right next to you. like this guy with the phone

be on nice day. morning temperatures kept more mild because of the cloud cover. that storm is also ushering some warmer air into the bay area. 44 in san francisco, 40 and san jose, but cold in the valleys. into the afternoon, temperatures still warm out there tomorrow. upper 60's for our inland valleys and low 70s for places like pleasanton. a lot of the cooler closer to the coastline and some places still clinging to the upper 50's. should test for is not putting cloud cover into the bay area tomorrow but you saw how close that storm is. we will have partly cloudy skies, warmer conditions will also be the case for sunday, but the chance of showers in the north bay for sunday evening. the chance of rain continued into monday, and it looks like it will be off and on rain next

there through the evening. we do have changes coming in this weekend's forecasts and i will have more on that coming up. >> more today on the massacre at oikos university. police have found the gun in an estuary in oakland at about five this morning. police say the serial numbers on that gun do match up with the gun owned by the suspect. he is spacing murder and attempted murder charges. the gun has been sent to the crime lab for testing and in the meantime, mourners continue to grieve for the seven people killed. another victim, grace kim, is being remembered tonight. there was the large memorial service and concert today at the campus and moment of

that they say was cut too short. >> the family of missing morgan hill teenager sarah lamarr is expected to announce the reward of tomorrow safe return. it's been three weeks today since the 15 -year-old vanished. sheriff deputies expanded the search on thursday but no new clues were found. despite more than 5000 tips there are no suspects in this case. investigators believe she was kidnapped on her way to school. >> the exact time is not clear, but sometime just after dawn around 7:00 a.m., sierra letter home. and set out for the bus stop about half mile away. serious usual routine was to walk west. neighbors homes on either side,

of pleasantville. people have their cars broken into and pleasing to be targeting oak road and santa rosa lane, just east of interstate 680. this isn't too far from the pleasant hill bus station. there have been three break-ins during the past week or so. two reported in the morning and another about a at night. no suspect information at this point. police say if you can, parking well lit areas and always lock your doors. >> after years of focusing on home mortgage scams, the federal trade commission is turning its sights on what it calls focus auto loan modifications. the ftc says it has asked the us district court in california to stop two companies. auto debt consulting and hope for car owners from allegedly deceiving consumers. both of those companies have racked up hundreds of dollars in upfront fees for loan modifications that were never performed.

the 17 -year-old girl who says she was raped is now in jail herself because the judge in sacramento ordered the teenager to be locked up to make sure that she shows up for the suspect's trial. she's missed to earlier court dates. the girl's attorney says that the girl is just too terrified to take the stand. under state law, sex assault victims are not required to do that but the assistant d.a. says even if she doesn't testify she is required to attend court. >> certainly, we don't like to be in the position of having to take the victim or witness into custody to be sure that we are able to prosecute the case. >> the suspect's trial begins april 20 third so that teenager could be locked up for two and half weeks. and california police are calling it one of the most outrageous cases they have seen. this 29 -year-old woman was

arrested for driving and texting with one hand while her one -year-old son in her lap. all three children have been put in protective custody. i look outside on the radar picture this afternoon, we seem sunny skies through the bay area but clouds are approaching. i went or view picture shows the storm hitting offshore but most of us wanted to the north over the next 24-36 hours. we will have some clout coverage tonight into tomorrow. overnight, a few clouds, chili and some spots especially away from the coast. tomorrow we will see a few clouds streaming through mainly in the north bay. but warmer temperatures especially for the inland valleys. increasing cloud cover as the storm starts to drop down and there will be of chance in the north bay in the evening. temperatures in the

morning, 33 in pleasanton and livermore with frost likely in those locations. 35 in napa, 39 and san rafael but warmer places like san francisco, and san jose. into the afternoon, temperatures warming. 71 in pleasanton, 67 in concord, 69 in san jose and also in sunnyvale but staying cooler closer to the coastline. i look at future costs for tomorrow afternoon, most of the brain missing us offshore and to the north. this cloud cover will sag further south and in the north they may be getting clouds tomorrow afternoon. no rain into the a hour saturday and this continues to track through the north and uc arica getting some rain into sunday morning but still staying dry at least into the afternoon. warmer conditions through the next several days even though we have the chance of rain in the forecast, it will

. here in oakland, police believe they have recovered the gun used by the suspect in the school massacre. it was discovered on the banks of a trib terry on lee drive. that is about a half a mile away from the crime scene. the serial nub on the gun number on the gun they found matches. they are sending it to a lab to identify it. continuing our coverage, a memorial concert on friday here at the university for the victim of monday's rampage. it began with a member reading from a bible and then a concert by a violin quartet. this is expected to continue for the entire month of april. those organizing hope it will bring healing to those who knew

person of interest. here in hayward, a new plan has been submitted to the city to redevelop the site of the old headquarters here along foot hill boulevard. in the plan, all of this would be torn out and replaced with 550 rental housing units and nearly 10,000 square feet of retail space. now, there are some concerns about what this sort of development would do to the surrounding neighborhood and the developer will hold several public hearings to address those concerns and they're hoping to get approval from the city sometime later this year and then construction would take about a year and a half. in hayward, charles clifford, kron4 news. in san francisco, the bicyclist who hit a pedestrian here in the crosswalk of castro and market street made online postings about the crash. the pedestrian died this week and the district attorney is awaiting results of the investigation by police. the rider says in the posting that he was going too fast and was unable to stop for the line of pedestrians that were crossing the street.

a navy fighter jet crashed into an apartment complex in virginia today. at least six people hurt. it now appears this was a training exercise gone wrong. renee marsh has the dramatic video. >> reporter: several apartment building were left smoldering after an fa18 fighter jet crashed. >> it shook the ground initially everyone was running to the scene and there were a couple large explosions and within seconds everyone was fleeing from the scene. >> reporter: the two person crew ejected before impact. resident pat kavanaugh found one of the crew. >> he was still strapped to his seat. we picked him up and dragged him across the street away from the fire. >> reporter: the plane was from a training squad ron in virginia
