standards. a hospitality group has already come out against this proposal. the group says that the new law would be unnecessary and unfair. in marin county, the white house is said to be reopened. it has been closed since 2010. a bridge connecting the lighthouse was a worn out and unsafe. now, the bridge has been replaced and the lighthouse will reopen this coming saturday. >>grant: the days bart to san jose station got even more official today. transportation and political bigwigs from washington d.c. and across california were there for a groundbreaking ceremony. the $3.2 billion project will extend bart beyond fremont where it currently ends, all the way down to various the in the northeastern san jose. there will also be stops and warm springs and milipitas. the 16 mi. extension should be ready for passengers in 2016.

construction has already started in fremont, it started back in 2009 but now, people from fremont to the south bay will soon see more and more road closures because of the work being done. reggie kumar tells us where residents think about the inconvenience. >> this is what residents at at the housing complex deal with every time they leave. construction equipment and lane closures. this is the only entrance to get to their homes. beginning on april 23rd, the construction work will impact them into this business across the street even more. this road between warm springs boulevard and will not travel regularly closes regular traffic for nine months in order for the truce to build a lower roadway had to do some bridges for the bart extension project. this is a picture of what will look like when it is finished. residents have mixed feelings. >> the way they went about this is poor, they did i give adequate warning. it will be nice when it is done, but the nine months

watching, the launch has been viewed as provocative and defies international warnings from the u.s. and its allies and considered an attempt to test long-range missile technology. north korea denies that and insist that this was only civilian bid to send a satellite into space. word is that a launch may have a field with the rocket breaking into pieces. japan has been monitoring the situation. the defense minister says they confirm that a certain flying objects has been launched in and fell. the statement did not spell out what was launched but added that there was no impact on japanese territory. japan has deployed patriot missiles like this one around the country. this is in downtown tokyo and they have been on standby to shoot down any part of the rocket that threatens the country.

>>grant: flights at san jose minetta international airport have been delayed 20-30 minutes after a woman somehow got past a security without being screened. the woman walked through and walked into the concourse area. officials have located the woman and she is being screened as we speak. all checkpoints are now back open the flights are still delayed up to 30 minutes in san jose. we will keep you updated on this developing story as we get more updates.

>>jaqueline: showers moving along the coastline towards san rafael and san francisco. we have something going on in the central valley, but a thunderstorm warning with lightning stripes and penney's sized hail. we also have the possibility of more pop up showers. in the bay area another round of rain to the overnight hours. you can see some of these showers and is different than the course of the north bay. we still have showers out ahead of the main band of rain through livermore and the the south bay. and into the overnight, moderate rain and gusty winds will start spreading to the rest of the bay area.

analysts say today's surge was fueled by encouraging economic news in china and positive gains in the european markets. the news is not so good for employment in the united states. the number of americans filing for unemployment in the united states rose. applications jumped 13,000. that brings the total number of jobless claims to the highest level since january. this is some good news, first-time applicants for unemployment remained below 400,000 which is a good sign that the economy is slowly improving.

out on fremont street tomorrow morning doing similar work. anyone driving across the bridge in the morning should check the traffic reports to make sure there is not a huge backup. >> we are monitoring severe weather in the central valley. we're also keeping an eye on showers making a way back into the bay area. light rain through san rafael pushing into the east bay. in the santa cruz mountains, a few more moderate cells. and the central valley, a severe thunderstorm warnings. the cells are producing plenty of lightning. this particular cell is just north and northeast of sacramento.

>> in san francisco, raw sewage is percolating up from storm drains. residents and businesses are stuck in dealing with the mess. it happened here in the mission district. crews have been out here all day long trying to deal with hazardous situation. families have been affected as well as a dozen businesses. the city has lost -- launched an investigation and several businesses could be shut down. >> continuing coverage, the public utilities commission has tried to fix this problem before, but as you can see the area keeps getting flooded. take a look at the video from 2009 when heavy rain caused this mess. you can see the mud and debris. infrastructure was replaced in 2008 into four years later it is still an issue. this summer they're planning to unveil the details for the overhaul of the systems.
