battling a wild fire just east of bakersfield that began around 2:30 p.m. yesterday. firefighters have asked for three air tankers to fight the fire. they are concerned about the dry brush in the area. move hundreds of homes have been evacuated. in new mexico a huge wildfire has burned 42 square miles.

>>jackie: i am at fourth and harrison. the entire city block is already tore up. it will only get worse for people who drive to the area. there are two lanes shut down into a more open. this is all a part of the central subway tunnel plan that is under way, built by the san francisco mta. it is a 2 mi. extension of the meeting new-line. it will be a subway, underground. this is the area where they're starting the tunneling. this is the area where they will be able to dig down for several feet in the that is where they will start tumbling north on fourth street. this is a huge project that

will impact traffic for years in many ways. it will take almost five years for them to build the tunnel. the entire system is not expected to open until 2019 but today is the first step in the process. this is a huge and expensive projects that will cost $1.5 billion. fourth street between harris and into bryant is were the construction is getting underway.
