in the south bay, sheriff's deputies in santa cruz are looking for an inmate escaped from a medium- security jail outside of watsonville on thursday night. police say that he was discovered missing on friday morning during a routine headcount. he was in custody awaiting sentencing for multiple charges including carjacking, burglary and possession of narcotics. the sheriff's office said he is one in english and spanish and believes he could be headed to mexico or the state of washington. here is his description. he was last seen wearing jail issued a tan pants, a tan shirt and green sweatshirt. oakland police this morning are investigating two fatal shootings that happened with it an hour of each other. the first incident was reported in east oakland as 6:30 p.m.. the two men got into an argument and one man pulled a gun, shooting and killing another. officers arrested the alleged gunman. in west oakland police responded to reports of shots fired on 11th street

and there they found a man lying on the ground. he died at the scene. no suspects have been arrested in the shooting. the oakland homicide total is now at 58. it's an officer involved shooting in oakland on friday night. a driver deliberately tried to run over a woman. the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. your seventh anticly street. a woman screaming for help flagged down an officer. it appeared the driver was trying to run the woman over and one officer opened fire. the driver of the vehicle then collided with a parked police car. the suspect is taken to hospital for evaluation but no one injured by gunfire. investigators are searching for the person who hit two planes with a laser beam near sfo. sanford's as a police along with the faa say they believe the beam originated near palo alto. on thursday night a skywest plane was hit with a beam and minutes later a virgin america flight. pilots say that the laser
