the kron4 newsroom the contra costa county is now working a house fire in concord is one of alarm on st. francis drive. it started around 5:00 a.m. this morning that was just about an hour ago. the fire crews are still trying to put the flames shall we have more information as we get it on the kron4 morning news. >> darya: happening right now in san jose dozens of people are camped out waiting to get their hands on free backpacks for their kids. we are live in san jose, we have been looking at the line and people have gotten their very early for a chance to get some of the surprise--supplies. >> will: actually they showed up late last night. let me show you the front of the line. today they're not passing out of items, such as taking information like your name and then you come back in a couple weeks and then you can get it. it is

this marks the seventh homicide in oakland since friday. for days, kron4 has been trying to catch up with the mayor to comment on this recent crime. this morning we hear from the mayor and the police chief. >> the chief and now are pretty much on target. i will give him all the resources he needs. we have to come together as a city. this is something that he cannot do alone and i cannot do alone, the whole city has to do it together. >> as a department would have to be more proactive and not the acting head we are the active because of our limited resources. >> darya: we also talked with the city councilman and he said the city is in a major crisis and needs to take action. >> we have already passed the crisis point. this council and this mayor cannot do it. nothing is more important than putting cops on the street. i know

we have 643 in all, they're only 270 that are out on patrol. >> in the long term i think this mayor and council has to implement more things in the cities of and save some of these young people. we have to deal with the majority of the shootings and the drug by the way that is gang-related. we have to put orders in place that will prevent people from gathering in groups on corners. this may help to prevent let--next shooting or robbery. if we do not do that i think who does continue to look at higher

>> mark: will come back we're watching the wildfire that is raging to the east of apple facts. police are going to try to evacuate people. the fire is up to 100 degree temperatures. just earlier today it burned 300 a. with 20 percent containment and eight hours later a group. containment is aware 10% complete there are 50 homes in this area that are threatened and about 200 people spent the night in a shelter. i want to show where this fire is if you are driving up this weekend, it will not be affecting traffic on interstate 80. now the you can to the fire to the east of applegate. there are

>> darya: wells fargo is accused of targeting african-american and hispanic borrowers higher fees than pushing them into expensive subprimal loans. the justice department says more than 30,000 borrowers were affected by this. well fargo agreed to a settlement, but the

to this fast-growing scam, they're getting a phone call saying they're eligible for an obama and entered a program that could pay up to $1,000 of utility bills. the problem is the program does not exist. in the victim share their social to charity and credit-card numbers as well as checking account information. this scam has targeted people nationwide including people here in the bay area. >> justine: just in, we're learning that two u.s. tourists have been a abducted in egypt. officials say to americans, a man and woman were taken friday along with their egyptian tour guide. >> justine: we have learned that the u.s. embassy is looking into this kidnapping. this area has seen a series of kidnappings over the past years. all the terrorists are really harmed and usually released we have more on this information coming up. >> darya: we will be back
