carjackings. oakland police are pouring over these details. >> we are looking for a pattern to see if we can identify any known groups, individuals who have connections to each of these robberies. we have seen an increase in the last 24 hours. sometimes we do see that. crime will run and patterns or spikes. we will see an increase and that we will see a decrease. >> several carjackings were in east oakland. >> at this point it does seem that there's any specific groups or connectivity but this will be forwarded to or investigative division. a real looking at specific groups? we are mapping a more information with the officers on the street and freeing that information back to the investigators. we are looking at the complete picture.

inland valleys. >> this just in to the kron 4 news room we are tracking a hot spot in the east bay highway 24 is near the 24 in the 680 come together. what happened was a car collided with a light pole. and if it created a significant backup blocking three lanes of traffic nearly all the way to oakland the east on having difficulty. working crews have removed. now there are back open but speeds are very, very slow from a recovery. oakland towards the 680 near walnut creek. we just learned that there was another car collision in this area near pleasant hill road. where that light pole has come down it is not helping. we will stay on top of this developing story. >>catherine: decision 2012. american jobs is a hot topic.

close encounter with a rattlesnake. >> it was a very close. it was not even rattling it was just right along the trail it was shocking. >>reporter: with no predators this rattlesnake like this one on display is on the rise and so are the number of snakebites reported to poison control this year by israel hospitals. >> we are seeing more rattlesnake bites than normal. we have ed six reported which is high. on average richer 6-10 per year. we are concerned and want the public to be alert with the higher-than-average. >>reporter: the park ranger is saying that he has encountered at least 18 on one day. lower than normal rainfall finds these rattlesnakes further and further for food & water. and even going into back yards.

sacramento are currently the largest in california. let us start by taking a look at google earth. it is burning in a menacing no national forests medicine--mendocino. 7 and 5 percent containment and they're hoping to have full containment by friday morning. the other act of northern california fire is near the sierra foothills in near colfax. this has consumed 2,600 a. and it is continuing to threaten world areas from the burn zone. five buildings have been lost. homes are still in danger with the evacuation's still in effect around this fire. cal fire is reporting good progress on getting this one out contr and i control. it is currently 40 percent containment. smaller california

>>catherine: after a week of nearly daily murders oakland is facing a new challenge. with 14 robberies and carjackings between 4:00 a.m. yesterday and 4:00 a.m. today. calls coming in and of one every 100 minutes. investigators are searching for a pattern. >> there does not seem to be any specific groups or patterns that have connections. >>catherine: citizens are trying to deal with the ongoing violence. as crime continues to rise in oakland a growing number are turning to each other and forming a neighborhood watch group. however haazig madyun found 1 neighbors that it is too fearful to take that step. >> i do not want a neighborhood watch sign on the door or my
