>>catherine: back to our big story, the movie massacre in colorado, the 24 year-old was suspected of going to a midnight showing of the latest of batman movie and opening fire. 12 people were killed, 59 injured. it is being called the worst mass shooting in american history. since we're getting our first detailed accounts of the moments. this one of the victims talk about what happened. >> we saw him kicked open the door and take a couple of steps forward, he planted

special agent from the fbi. our federal partners have been a tremendous and supporting us. i really want to start by saying how proud i am of the men and women of the police department. the chief of the fire department is also here with us. we want to straighten out some numbers. there are a total of 70 injured in this event. as of this time 12 are dead. if 10 people in the theater, the last of the bodies were removed from the theater a little after 5:00 p.m. this afternoon. i do want to come the correct one thing, earlier rights to the others were hit by gunfire. i now know a handful of people call were not hit by gunfire but suffered other injuries as a result of the chaos and drama in the theater. i cannot tell you how many that is the is a small number. nearly everyone was shot.

it's a little bit of information about our subjects into the weapons he obtains, and the last 60 days he purchased for guns at a local metro have shops and all through the internet he purchased over 6000 rounds of ammunition. he had hundreds of rounds into the internet also purchased multiple magazines for the assault rifle including 1100 around the drum magazine that was recovered from the scene. i have been asked if the weapon was automatic or semiautomatic, i cannot answer that question right now but i am told by experts even if it was semiautomatic the drum magazine he could have gotten off a 50-60 rounds

even if it was just semi- automatic within one minute. as far as we know it was a pretty rapid case of fire. this evening at 4:00 p.m., members of the police department and the many supporting agencies that have provided victims service advocates to support as met with approximately seven family excuse me, 70 members, family and friends who had not had an accounting of their missing loved ones. we met with them for approximately 90 minutes and discuss our efforts. we do the best we could deal with their grief and anguish. we're hopeful that some time in the next hour of
