originally contacted him near robert lake. >> three weeks earlier on june 30th, he was detained in golden gate park for smoking. when he gave police the ok to search his vehicle, they found a loaded 12 gauge shotgun and a 22 caliber rifle. the other weapons were not discovered at the time. >> when he was detained at the first time it was for mental health evaluation. it was not a criminal charge. >> the chief defended officers staying at the time he made threatening statements against his family and instead of being arrested he was taken to general hospital for a mental health evaluation. that is why the vehicle was not searched. he still had all of these weapons three weeks later furious >> i think officers have to make these decisions and i think they did the right thing. >> police say in his vehicle
