west nile virus they continue to soar. we are seeing an increase in animal infections in the bay area local health officials are alarmed because the virus has been found not only in this deals with 20 dead birds that tested positive for the west nile virus. >> mark: officials say since one of the chickens got the disease they believe that the virus has gained a foothold in the county. to bay area communities will be sprain 4 mosquitos today. to give you more news faster let us turn to our solo reporter jacki. >> reporter: good morning mark i am at the natural reserves out here and santa clara vector control is expected to take to the air spraying up to 400 a. of this marshland to eradicate in the steel issue that they are having out here. they say this year it is really bad. the eggs and larvae

have started hacking and millions of mosquitos out here they have sprayed from 7:00 a.m. this morning to try to eradicate the mosquito problem. it is not known to west--to necessarily carry the west nile disease but they want to take all precautions. they're expected to be out here from 7:00 a.m. until about 9:00 a.m. to spring up to about 400 a.. they say this will be closed during the spring but immediately afterwards the will let people come in and they say this is safe for humans, birds, and other mammals. obviously they want to get rid of the mosquitos that as quickly and efficiently as they can. they say here is so and accessible by land usually they would go out there by foot and take care of it but they want to get this in areas sprayed as quickly as possible. i am standing here right now and they're already tons of
