>> we begin with the latest on tropical storm isaac. this morning it's not so bad as forecasters are now saying it's going to hit further west of the originally projected path. andrew spencer has an update on isaac's updated route. >> reporter: isaac is projected to make land fall late tuesday or wednesday somewhere between louisiana and northwest florida. wednesday happens to be the anniversary of the worst national disasters of u.s. history. >> we in mississippi are unfortunately experts at managing disasters, just a few short days we will observe the

erica. >> good morning to you. we want to bring up isaac here, take a good look at how massive isaac is going to be to the state of florida. tropical storm isaac brought wind and rains to miami and florida keys so it is expected to strengthen to a category 2 while it's over the gulf of mexico. that will happen into tomorrow. so category 2 hurricane sustained winds upward of 110 miles an hour definitely heavy rains going with it. by tuesday evening heading into wednesday morning and isaac is aiming for southwest of new orleans and it can actually also hit the florida panhandle as well. you can see it's along the screen. so the latest updates. jus seen. >> republican officials released a new schedule for this week's national convention in tampa. the new schedule comes a day after announcing the convention would be postponed by a day.

among major changes to tell you about, south carolina governor nicky haley her speech has been moved to tuesday night. arkansas governor will speak on wednesday. and just reminder, you can watch uninterrupted commercial free coverage of all the major evening speeches from both the republican and democratic conventions on our new 24 news channel that's on comcast 493. now to the latest of all the flurry of small earthquakes that were rather moderate and they rattled parts of southern california on sunday. this is video of the damage near the open by center of 5.5 magnitude quake that was just before 2:00 yesterday afternoon. another about hour and a half earlier registered a 5.3. no injuries were reported you're looking at damage that was seen throughout the area as dozens of floor quakes shook

the region throughout the entire day. a tsunami warning has been massive earthquake in ell salsa core. the quake struck just off the coast yesterday. the quake was followed by 5.4 after shock earlier this morning. there's still no reports of any damage or injuries. now let's find out what our weather forecast has in store. it's monday we want to know what's happening erica has the answers. >> good morning. we're taking a live look outside. and one thing we will notice this week compared to last week is cloud cover so it looks like starting to mix out of it and seek rare conditions earlier compared to what we saw through the course of last week. we do have some to contend with allock the coastline. temperatures in wide range of 50s. as we head into the afternoon, temperatures will be in the 60s, 70s and upper 80s and into

the evening hours looks like the clouds will return. your temperature right outside the door, 57 right now. 60 waking up in hayward and then future cast shows by lunchtime, 60s and 70s for the most part. as they push across by 3:00 p.m. we introduce all of that orange indicating where it will see those 80s. breaking down those numbers for you 70s and 80 z with campbell reaching 77. 76 expected in fremont. could see upper 80s for fair field. 84 degrees over in concord. and relatively mild issues for entire eastern shoreline. looks like temperatures to be in the low 70s there. 79 expected in napa. and we're calling for seven day around the forecast shows pretty nice conditions over all. for the next several days we'll have wet weather to speak of. it looks like much in the way of cloud cover and it looks

like we won't see more mild conditions and temperatures a little bit cooler into the weekend. over in the traffic center no hot spots to tell you about. it's a great ride around the bay area. traffic pretty light at this hour and wait here at the pay gate. for those of you heading into tonight's ride getting down into the freeway, a speed averaging over 50 might be so you can see those taillights hanging out, the bright lights coming towards you headed eastbound into hayward and golden gate bridge for the most part is problem free, not even soggy conditions to report. now we do have over night road work to talk about northbound 101 r -- 101 this tunnel approach things to the boulevard. couple lanes are shutdown i did check our traffic maps and we aren't seeing any slowdowns. >> thank you so much erica. a mother shot in front of her three children all under the age of 10.

this morning police are searching for the shooter. here is the latest. >> reporter: they say the shooting happened in broad daylight attaint 4:25 on saturday afternoon. witnesses say that the woman was standing outside of her car in this apartment parking lot when someone walked up to her and fired. >> he heard at least 6 gunshots. >> i wanted to dive down and try to avoid being hit. >> reporter: kelly said the woman was shot in this parking lot on the 100 block of kathy ellen drive. police say the woman's three children and 23-year-old man were inside her car when she was shot in the leg. the man suffered minor injuries, the children were unharmed. >> it's -- the child was not killed that touched me the most. >> the 36-year-old woman ran across the street to this sidewalk after being attacked, she was taken to a local hospital, treated for nonlife

threatening injuries. local pass store james evans says crimes like these are senseless. >> the one thing that we all think, lock them up and put them behind the cell, the four walls, what's the better solution besides just that. >> the police department has only released a vague description of the suspect, a man wearing a black ski masks. if you have any information that can help solve this crime call the police. oakland police are looking for the person who killed a woman on saturday night. she and a man who was also shot were near the corner of 85th 85th avenue when someone opened fire. the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. police are not sure what led to that shooting. meantime police in sanpablo after weekend shooting are trying to figure out who injured 3 children. there was a 14-year-old boy, 12- year-old girl and 7-year-old

boy. here is more on this story. >> reporter: back home after spending 2 days at oakland children's hospital for a gunshot wound to the back of his neck. he still can't move his neck too much. >> a little bit of pain. >> yes. >> reporter: both of his parents gave me permission to interview him. the 7-year-old tells me he's ready to come home but says he's a bit nervous. >> next time do you think you'll be scared. >> yes. >> reporter: brian was hit by a stray bullet friday night. he was playing right here in this driveway in front of his apartment. >> i heard some shooting. i started running and then somebody like -- i felt something hit me in my neck. >> and then you touched it. >> i touched it and started bleeding. >> reporter: doctors removed the bullet. the shooting happened on sick mother street near his apartment. police say several gunman fired

welcome back to the crime scene morning news at 4:16. a low flying helicopter will be seen flying this week to measure radiation on behalf of two federal agencies. here you'll be able to see a picture of the helicopter which will be flying about 300 feet over the ground in a grid pattern covering 69 square miles of san francisco, oakland and pacific a. this is part of the project being run of the detection office and the nuclear security administration. they say the purpose of this aerial survey is to measure naturally occurring radiation.

>> several people were killed. this happened late saturday night. the sheriffs are saying the plane went into flames upon impact in the wooded area. the accident started on a one acre fire that took more than a half -- hour and a half to put out much of the wreckage from the crash was destroyed by the fire making it difficult to identify the plane and the victims. it could take months for for investigators to determine possible cause of that accident. a 15,000-dollar reward is being offered for any information that leads to conviction in the shooting death of black bear in lake tahoe. the tahoe based bear league and humane society donated money for that reward and many tahoe residents are expressing outrage after the bear named sonny was found dead july 30th on the lake's west shore. the california department of fish and games for a full scale investigation. let's check in with erica for a look at our forecast. >> good morning to you, it's going to be a pretty mild to

warm weekend. we don't have wet weather to speak of it looks like the morning will be nearly as foggy. we're seeing clear conditions as we take a live look at downtown san francisco. we can see the tops of the buildings and into the afternoon expect temperatures to range from the 60s to the upper 80s. breezier conditions as we head into tomorrow. we'll continue to see that sunshine warm to pleasant con conditions. looking ahead looks like we won't see a slight warm up by the end of this week and transitioning into the weekend but continue to see that sunshine. look for details on that coming up in your 7-day forecast, checking out your visibility chart and miles equal clear conditions along the area freeways. looks like yesterday is a little bit foggy down to 2 and a half miles for the view using highway 1 this morning. shows into the 9:00 hour. we will continue to see cloud cover. however, these have been pretty high clouds and they're not

impacting visibility. looks like the layer is mixing out this morning and you can see a full scale back as we head into lunchtime maybe just cloudy conditions along the coastline with plenty of sunshine and blue skies expected pretty much everywhere else. in terms of those numbers 60s, 70s, and 80s looks like san francisco coming in at 65 degrees. could reach 88 for antioch expect it to be the warmest day around the bay area and you can see your seven day round day forecast shows pretty mild conditions and looks like we'll stay out of the 90s, still getting into the upper 80s for your inland areas, 70s afternoon the bay and mid-60s for the coast and looks like we'll see more delay in cloud cover and temperatures a little bit cooler as we head into saturday and sunday. over in the traffic center it's pretty quiet around the area. we do have a little bit of over night work out there. we have been checking with your roadway sun don't have any slowdowns to report. here taking it out to the

approach of toll plaza, just a few cars out there, no wake here at the toll plaza. no problems at the incline and across the upper deck. the drive just 8 minutes for fremont street this morning. here at the bridge you'll see traffic moving in both directions of 92, the drive just 13 minutes from end to end. here at the golden gate bridge honestly not dealing with too much in the way of fog, really not getting any cars on the span itself no problems in the southbound direction and over on our maps you'll see a lot of green on roadway sensors for those of you commuting down the east shore freeway. westbound 24 looks to be a clear shot and towards mcoar which you are yes i have been checking with the chp no incidents to report for those of you coming off the path and emerging downtown livermore. we don't have any problems to report you're seeing in the freeways this hour. >> thank you, in california woman saw her husband --

thought her husband was having an affair. instead she discovered a murder. he's accused of murdering a man. >> he thought his secret was safe until his wife found out. police reports court documents say last month his estranged wife set a recorder in their kitchen for 3 days because he thought she was -- she thought he was cheating on her. he asked the family gardner to help him move a corpse from his old house to this house he rented in south bakers field. he would pay him $3,000 to move the body and $500 every month to keep quiet. he agreed he later told investigators he bought 20 bags of horse manure from home depot to cover up to door.

police reports say he helped him dig up the body from the side of the house on grass creek drive. he described it as partially decomposed wrapped in a blanket and burried five feet. he said he unloaded the body into the back of chevy avalanche and took it house. he said they burried the body and he only paid him $1,000 and refused to pay him more. he told investigators it all started in late june when they talked about what they would do to a child molester if they knew one. then in early july he saw him and said i killed him. i killed my brother and burried him in my yard, i need your help. she said she captured recording of her husband on the phone offering someone money to kill her. she said when she heard that she called sister and sister-in- law to tell them about the recordings. sister and sister-in-law filed a missing report with vp.

he said hide and were friends for more than 20 years after meeting in jail. he was incarcerated for drug trafficking and -- she said around 2006 he became power of attorney after convinced that his wife was exploiting him and stealing his money. i received $10,000 per month in indian dividends checks. court documents saline has not been seen or heard from in 4- years during which time he received approximately $600,000 in dividends checks. told investigators that every time she asked to about him. he said he moved to new mexico with an unidentified girlfriend. >> he has been charged with first-degree murder. an autopsy will confirm the identity of the remains. we'll be right back.

goodgood morning, an armed man robbed -- an saturday night. the suspect pointed a handgun at the market's owner before leaving south. there were no customers in the market at the time of the robbery. he searched the area but did not locate the suspect. that former market at the same location that was also robbed in june 2011 and no arrests have been made in either case. and police arrest add napa man on saturday morning after he broke into a car and also broke as many as 14 lights in the apartment complex. officers responded to reports of vehicle burglary at about 2:30 saturday morning near the intersection of south jefferson street. police found 32-year-old travis thompson just a few blocks away from the scene. his possession of property stolen from burglarized vehicle. he was arrested from burglary, public intoxication and possession of stolen property.

republican national convention has been put on hold for one day as tropical storm isaac threatened florida. renee marsh has the latest from tampa. >> reporter: an uninvited guest is trying to over shadow mitt romney's big momentsful the potential threat of a hurricane has delayed the event that will officially nominate romney for the presidency. now it appears isaac will bypass tampa. it's expected to strike further west somewhere between the florida panhandle and louisiana. still tampa's mayor believes the rnc made the right call. >> i think they recognize that while they could probably have gone forward with it, just that minimal potential risk of sustained wind coming across the bridge and having to refigure the transportation logistics, it was the appropriate decision. isaac battered the southern tip of florida sunday, today, tampa is expected to see

orleans. i really want you to take a good look of how massive isaac is compared to the state of florida, tropical storm isaac brought winds, heavy rains to miami and the florida keys over the weekend. with that we did see sustained wind upward of 110 miles an hour. so it looks like it could reach land fall once again by tuesday evening heading into wednesday morning. of course, we came monitoring the paths and have the latest updates right here on kron4. thank you erica republicans have released a new schedule for this week's rnc. the schedule is coming after announcement convention will be postponed by a day. among the major changes speech has been moved to tuesday night. former arkansas mike huckabee will speak on wednesday and former florida governor jeff bush will deliver his remarks on thursday nights. and latest washington postponed now showing romney winning among registered voters by just

well it looks like we don't have nearly as many clouds today compared to what we saw last week. it looks like that will be the story for the next several days. over all pretty clear conditions around the bay area. we do have some costal fog to contend with. in terms of your temperatures we're seeing in the upper 50s downtown san francisco coming in at 57 degrees and 56 waking up in san jose. future cast 4 takes those 50s into the afternoon by lunchtime we'll see 606s through the heart of the bays. 70 for the north bay for some of our inland vallies and for places like san jose as well as we push the clock to about 3:00 p.m. and we introduce that orange indicating where it will see those 80s. so breaking down those numbers for you neighborhood by neighborhood 70s and 80s in the south bay. looks like 85 degrees 70s over in sunnyville. sunshine upper 70s from mount view. upper 70s for santa chara. 82 for the valley.

could see some upper 80s for and over in concord. 75 in union city and again it's going to be another gorgeous day in the north bay, upper 70s expected here. 65 downtown san francisco and low 60s for ocean beach. so we have a look at your extended forecast. it looks like for the next couple of days we could give a couple of degrees. we'll keep high clouds in the forecast. and we do have another a little bit of cool down, another dip in the temperature as we transition into the weekend. and more details on that -- coming up in just a bit. the traffic center getting off the door here, it's a nice around the bay area and don't have any hot spots to bring your attention to. we'll see if a bit more busy here teleplay czar we are seeing more cars coming from all 3 of the approaches. no lights to deal with and

we're being told he was being kicked out of his apartment. police say on friday jeffrey johnson killed his boss which they had been feuding.

lasers.com. thank you for coming in. >> thank you. after a -- over closures and mergers, at least 30,000 kids in oakland are starting school again this morning and many of those kids and teachers are going to be adjusting to new schools. there were some shuffling last week, nearly a third of the district's 76 special resource teachers were assigned to new schools just days before the start of instruction. this year 39 charter schools will be opening in the city. that includes learning without limits and elementary which was one of the five schools that have been slated for closure. >> and they're now heading back to school and can mean more time in the car alone driving to class and after school jobs with distracted driving a major
